They probably put Deadpool on that node with X-Force and 4*Thor for the sole reason of preventing people from dropping instant win Whales Whales Whales.
Also, facing level 300+ X-Force is definitely better than facing a level 300+ Juggernaut or Ares

Guess they do read forums and how people were dealing with previous Gauntlets. In next one, final node will have Deadpool redflag.png TU to block it, calling it.

I hate to say it, but I'm guessing the safest route to node #42 is boosted Sentrybombing with Hood (obvious) and probably Black Panther (blue to reduce match damage, yellow as an alternative to sacrifice, black to finish).

    +3 green/black AP
    +3 all colour AP
    + Decent Team Up

Target 4Thor (due to health), drain/match green as priority followed by black then yellow. Pop BP blue pretty much straight away. Use WR as soon as available, drop BP yellow with 1 tick to go... and then use black either for speeding up WR or Black Panthers AoE.

If that doesn't take everyone down then fingers crossed that Sentry's red is ready to go and it's definitely lights out for the horrible combo.

Prioritising black/green means X-Force shouldn't get his powers off, while deadpool won't get enough AP to use whales. If 4Thor does get a blue away then just use the charged tiles to fuel Battleplan and/or Supernova.

We don't talk about her green, which actually just is a complete joke.

Except when it goes off and I laugh that she only healed for 400 something as I'm about to finish off her team. And then say **** happened to my 20 blues????

Why the hell do you have 20 blue if you care about blue?

Why do people think Sentry Bombing isnt still amazing? It just takes a couple turns longer, it still completely destroys.
  • This also sound like why I have held onto a couple 166 World Ruptures and some 5-cover intimidations in TUs.
  • Manage to clear the full 1st sub last night and got halfway through the 2nd this morning. I figure the last one is going to devour my TUs, Health Packs and boosts, so I'm trying to get to it as fast as possible to give myself a lot of time to die. MHawk, CStorm and MNMags are working overtime in this one. I can usually get 2 nodes out of my LCap before I have to heal him, too. So glad I haven't brought anyone up to 166 yet, though, as my scaling is already starting to hurt. No clue how I'm going to beat the last node without Whales. My Sentry isn't very high level.

Was saving up to wipe the whole team out. Was going to go: Green Patch, 2 CMags Blues, then CMags red. Didn't want to use Patch too early and leave all the AI strike tiles out. I had just made my last blue match and was ready to go my next turn.
  • I was playing on my phone mid way through the 2nd level on my way home from work and got wiped to lvl 140ish enemies so when I got home I picked up my ipad and started playing on that - only to find that the levels for that node had been reduced to 40/15/15! icon_eek.gif

Of course I quickly ran through as many nodes as I could but it only took about 5 nodes before the system figured it out and set them back to normal (~165) levels. It's not like I wouldn't have been able to beat the 140s or anything but man did it feel good stomping through some "seed teams" midway through the 2nd level.

Tried switching back and forth between devices again but no luck. It was like a temporal scaling blackhole. Weird.

Bout halfway through the 3rd now and not looking forward to that last node at all.

it is still amazing but I get wiped multiple times before a match would go in my favor as the 3 turn count down significantly makes my WR less effective and by the time it triggers I have lost half of my 16 placed tiles. You really need some luck and the ability to pull it off quickly. sim 42 was easy because your really only dealing with deadpool that is OP, a level 249 4thor and xforce is not over kill comparing to a level 200 jugg or ares. Another unit to consider is using the buffed Cstorm for its AOE and 4 turn stun. I actually find a level 238 (in my match) spiderman much more difficult to deal with than other offensive characters.

Just beat Sim 42. After several failed attempts with different teams, this one was the winner for me:

Hulk in the middle, then Sentry and Hood. All AP+3 boost plus r/y and g/b ISO boosts.

Hulk tanks black and green, and anger generates enough green (particularly if a bad board for green) to get WR going. Also helps preserve Sentry health for Sacrifice.

Targeted DP first (dead after first WR), then xf and 4hor last. Hulk anger after Sentry strike was out was beastly, and generated enough green for a second WR. Was basically lucky that Sentry strike tile stayed on the board as long as it did.

Did I do something wrong? I struggled to go through Wilderness Survival, and did the essentials with Captain Marvel, but ended up some eighty points shy of the last progression reward (Moonstone cover). I mean, I'm not trying to build Moonstone yet, but I can't get any more points from this section.2014_12_11_00001.jpg
  • Yeah, sim #42 is pretty much a joke to me now. The guys are close to level 400, my team are punching bags against them. Oh well
  • I've come to realize that arguing with people on the forums with a superiority complex is pointless. Not saying scaling isn't tough. Never said that.

Basically saying one node isn't difficult because you happen to be having a hard time with a different node that I and at least 37 other people before me didn't blink at is the definition of arrogance.

And for the record, every time I saw jugg in the 3rd tier, he was level 300+ which is more than enough to be dangerous. Here's a tip. Deny green/red and bring a cheap stun.

Here's one more tip. Don't downplay someone else's opinion because you feel you are superior in some way. You just come across **** an ****.

Mine did the same thing - I'm stuck at 1811 points - and all the nodes have been completed.
  • It's that time of year again where we all praise the Gauntlet to high heavens, and the developers look at all the positive feedback and decide that we won't see it again for a few months.

TAKE THE HINT, DEVELOPERS. THE GAUNTLET IS THE WAY OF THE FUTURE.

meh, I never liked the Gauntlet events and probably never will. Probably all depends on where you are at in this game, people with well developed rosters probably like the Gauntlet more and people in the transition probably prefer regular PVE more.
  • Yes. Transitioning players can't score high in pvp to get 3 star covers so we have Pve geared roster. when gauntlet takes away our few good combos (mags storm) we can't complete gauntlet. can't compete gauntlet means no Loki. no Loki means poor score in next pve with him as essential. poor pve score means even fewer 3 star covers. fun...

thanks for the she hulk 3 star tho!!!

    ...
  • I both love and hate the Gauntlet and am a solid 2-3 transitioner.

I love that I don't have to grind to keep up with other grinders in order to get rewards so I can play at my own pace and not worry so much if I miss a refresh. I also like how you only have to play a node once as it keeps it fresher than going back over the same one time and time again just because you need to to keep up your rank.

I hate how difficult it can be for those of use that may have diverse rosters, but aren't covered enough to make that a good thing. This combined with how difficult the nodes can be, especially when the node uses one or more of the few fully covered characters you rely on to advance, means that I am essentially still "grinding" every 2.5 hours as I'm waiting for healing to be able to tackle the next one with fingers crossed.

I also wish the reward structure was different. In the usual PVE's I have always come away with at least 2 3* covers (One from progression and at least one but usually more from placement) along with a couple Heroics depending on the event. With Gauntlet, I will be lucky to get one Heroic and super lucky if I can manage to get one 3*

At the very least, I think that the end reward for the first part should be a Heroic and that either scaling should be lowered a tad (not much cause I still want it to be a challange) or that more (possibly all, making it the BoP of PVE) characters should be buffed considering you will hit many nodes where you cant use certain characters. (much more than the usual PVE)

Nah. I have a pretty good roster and I find the entire "Try and beat this impossible node once" aspect of the Gauntlet a great time. Less profitable? Yes, but so what. The day the game itself stops being fun and all I play for is winning hp and covers is the day I go do something else where I actually have fun.
  • I'm firmly in the grip of the 2-3 transition. I have a few 3* with max covers, but none at lvl 166. I love Gauntlet. It allows me to work more or less at my own pace, and it's a fun challenge to not be able to use the same characters I always do. Usually I just send out Patch/LCap/OBW. Now I'm forced to try different combinations and come up with new strategies in order to win. I've never really focused much on BP, Captain Marvel, Hulk or Psylocke, but now they're becoming my lifelines when I can't use Patch/LCap/OBW or CStorm/MNMags/MHawk.

Plus it's nice not having to play the same node over and over (unless I can't beat it).
