Character Rotations For Season IX (*Updated)

Greetings MPQ Community,

Here's the latest Character Rotation plan set to go live with the start of Season IX on Friday, December 12th. (To see the original post outlining the Character Rotation Plan visit: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=17494).

Loki is back and he's sporting a new, third ability (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20102). Daredevil has also been revamped and is more dangerous than ever! Wolverine (Patch) will be returning to the active fray after a little time off, and he's been keeping up his exercise regimen.

Rotating In: Groot+Rocket, Gamora, Loki, Daredevil, Wolverine (Patch), Thor (Goddess of Thunder)

Rotating Out: Black Widow (Grey Suit), Daken (Classic), Iron Man (Model 40), Psylocke, Black Panther.

Characters that are taken out of packs will start rotating back in as other characters ahead of them in the rotation queue return. We'll always communicate in advance which characters will be rotating out.

Reminder: This allows us to work on the characters that are out of the spotlight.

While I appreciate the effort on the characters, I think they really need to consider locking the characters that are rotated out from at least some events because otherwise there's no real incentive to try someone new, and it's also unfair to the guys who don't have them. For example Daken is out of rotation, and he's a staple PvE powerhouse and even pretty good for sustained PvP grinds. Assuming MPQ is a game that's supposed to be growing and open to new players I think it's just a bad idea that you can join and know that you can't even get a character that's the core of many grinding strategies. On the other hand, I see that they've claimed to improve Loki and Daredevil, so let's say they're now viable characters, which is great, but all my other 166s are viable too, so why should I care? Unless they made those two way overpowered I don't have an incentive to change one viable character for another and of course that'd be another problem in itself.

To be fair, the tier list isn't the only reason people would want to play a character. I use Lazy Cap extensively not because he's a top-tier character (which he clearly isn't ), but because I actually enjoy his playstyle. I know some players enjoy Daredevil's trap playstyle but are forced to use other main teams because he's just not viable. I'm sure those people would be very happy to try out the new and improved Daredevil. Having a wide range of viable characters can only be a good thing for the game in the long run.

A rotation system would cause a forum uproar the likes even worse than true healing. If your a transitioning player and your only covered 3* is Thor, if they rotate Thor out for a season, all of the sudden you're completely screwed. I feel like they can make having character breadth relevant in other ways that doesn't piss off the entire playerbase, such as that survival mode or whatever.

Well, that's what I said 'some events' not all. It shouldn't cost anything to run additional events that have different roster rotation. I guess you'll have people say 'but I can't play them all' but is that really a terrible thing? Well sure if they made X Force 5* on this new mode for alliance winners that'd be pretty bad, but hopefully they won't do something as dumb as that.

Agreed that locking characters out is not a good idea.

I'm very excited about the Loki and Daredevil buffs. When can we expect to hear something concrete about them? Also: note to D3: run a Loki PVP early on with the new skill as the top 100/Alliance prize, please? Not as the top 5? Because that's evil?

I'm curious as to what Wolverine keeping up his excerice regimine means? It would be nice if they tweaked him a little bit as he went from top 5 character to nowhere with the C.Mags rework. If they just made TBTI cost 12AP I would be super happy.

I'm pretty sure it's just flavor and nothing else. Don't think we'll be seeing any changes to Patch.

What would make Loki viable in the top tier? 1-turn CD that ends match? Hopefully it's that.

Daredevil I'm betting places his traps now, with the alternative that all traps are now random colors. Maybe even both. I think power to AP is good on his powers, it's the lack of resolution that weakens him, especially on Ambush. If Ambush could literally be on any match, it becomes lethal for 7ap.

Wolverine I'm betting just goes to the 8500 health class.

ouch BP and classic daken taken out of rotation? please no, how about instead of taking out the good ones take out characters like doc oc, beast, colossus or she-hulk that nobody really likes or cares about.

Glad to hear Daredevil is improved and returning! I've got him almost fully covered, and I hope to get the remaining covers to fully level him

Really? GSBW, BP and Daken? Who comes up with this stuff... better yet why is the horrible idea of lock-out/rotation still being used? You are taking out characters that allow for competitive play and replacing them with novelty characters that won't be used anyways... It's killing the transition players who have no reason to spend money on HP for hops because their 3*'s stay half-covered for months and then the character disappears for a few more months! Put everyone in the pool, cut the % chance on 2* slightly and it gives us a fighting chance... Where is Punisher???
