They can only have one of those up at any given time no matter how much AP they got, so you want to leave them up as long as possible and only match it before it goes off. It's actually pretty tame as goon power as long as it's not paired up with another green user, since these guys generate green AP but can attack for no AP.

Half the Florida nodes are one and done?

Obviously, you come to these forums. So, you saw Blade was going to be released in the next Event starting on 10/24. D3 ALWAYS (maybe there has been an exception) makes a just released character an Essential in the next PvE Event.

Whoa. What? What are you talking about? The first I'd ever heard about Blade was yesterday on Facebook. I'm on this forums every day, looking for news. You're telling me some of you knew Blade was coming? How? Where was this announcement?

The earliest mention of Blade I can find on these forums is 10/23.

    September 27th.

    Wolveroach's third clear:

Florida is open, so let's take a look.

    The Chariot, 130, 33/34/34, win, 4059
Call Him Colonel Fury, 130, 43/43/43, win, 4189
    Not Very Subtle, 100, 55/55/55, win, 4289
Thou Shalt Not Pass, 160, 62/63/62, win, 4449
Divide and Conquer, 160, 64/65/64, barely win, 4609

Total, 680 points, Dead Wolverine, Thor and OBW at death's door. Luckily I have 2 health packs left, oh, only 2.

Now we have 6 more repeatable nodes to choose from. Let's take a survey:
Jump Jets, 310, 83/83/83 - Goons, should be easy
Jump Jets II, 370, 95/96/95 - oh dear
    LMD Assault, 280, 76/77/77 - Ragnarok, avoid
Knocking at the Door, 310, 82/83/83 - Ragnarok, avoid
    I'm in Your Base, 250, 77/77/77 - oh dear
    Ares, 400, 102/103/103 - oh dear

Total, 1920 points, a clear will probably be impossible, let's try, break out Hawkeye and Mags as they've healed, maybe I'll get an early match-5.

    Jump Jets, ok.
Jump Jets II, almost dead. Moonstone's photon blast takes out Hawkeye before the speed shot goes off.
LMD Assault, Thor, Mags, boosted Storm, boost blue/purple x3, what the heck, I've got 23, boost all AP x3. Double-dose of wind storm and a win, but expensive. That's enough pushing of luck for minimal gain.

    The essential nodes are:
    Stragglers, 400, 59/60/60
    More Stragglers, 430, 63/64/64
Eyes on the Prize, 340, 53/53/53
1170 points for a clear, the opposition is at a lot lower level than the normal nodes.

By now I'm at 5569, in 39th, the leader is at 16831. I guess he has MM, let's go check. But now he's gone! Accident-eLe has left the bracket and the leader is now chicnwaffles on 10232. Whafu? Is this sharding in action?

    A review of Alaska:
    Clever Girl, 113, 51/52/52
    Clever Girl II, 282 , 82/82/82
    Clever Girl III, 316, 90/90/90
    The Hunter, 147, 64/65/65
    Outta My House, 181, 66/66/66
    Let's Dance, 384, 106/106/106

    New Guy 358, 58/59/59
    Clean Up Crew, 418, 56/56/56
    Last of 'em, 384, 56/57/57

So, points are starting to climb, levels are pretty static with the exception of Let's Dance which has jumped 10 levels. But consistently, the essential nodes give more points and are lower levels than the other nodes. I really don't see 70k happening.

Wolveroach has to heal now, and will do another clear before I head to bed. I don't plan to report on points and levels unless there's an outpouring of interest.

Strangely, Accident-eLe is back in the bracket at 21736, gofyk 2nd with 16403 and chicnwaffles 3rd with 13954.

Where did they disappear to and why did they come back?

After the last clear, well no one said don't do it, so that's good enough for me.

Another quick review, Wolveroach hasn't played anything yet:

    Alaska

    Clever Girl, 137, 51/51/51 (easy)
    Clever Girl II, 343 , 84/84/84 (normal)
Clever Girl III, 384, 92/93/92 (normal)
    The Hunter, 178, 66/66/66 (easy)
Outta My House, 219, 66/66/66 (easy)
    Let's Dance, 466, 109/110/109 (normal)
    1727 points, average level 78

The New Guy 466, 58/59/58 (easy)
Clean Up Crew, 507, 55/55/55 (easy)
Last of 'em, 466, 56/57/56 (easy)
    1439 points, average level 57

    RB working its magic slowly.

Florida - Turns out some of those I thought were repeatable were one-offs.

Divide and Conquer, 160, 64/65/64 (easy)
    Ares, 400, 103/104/104 (normal)
Not Very Subtle, 100, 54/55/54 (easy)
    I'm in Your Base, 250, 78/79/79 (normal)
Knocking at the Door, 310, 89/89/89 (normal)
    1220 points, average level 78

    Stragglers, 400, 69/69/69 (easy)
    More Stragglers, 430, 72/72/72 (normal)
Eyes on the Prize, 340, 60/61/60 (easy)
    1170 points, average level 67

Without MM that's 2500 points per clear unavailable in matches vastly easier than the non-MM nodes. Unless something amazing happens with RB, or I accidentally "suffer an illness" and become housebound for 4 days so I can play every 2.4 hours, 70k is looking a long way away.

For contrast, Moon Roach is doing only the essentials and occasionally easy other nodes, has 11604 points (twice as many as Wolveroach) and is 4th in his bracket without really trying.
  • Has anyone joined a new bracket recently? If so, how many players were in it?

    Thanks icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I guess I spoke too soon when I said that I was probably waving bye-bye to Blade, just looking at the boosted chars and comparing it to my roster. I must have lucked into a bracket where no-one has MM or something. Top is 15896 (me), but top 10 is way down at 11k.

We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I can keep my lead, although doing 2 subs at once is hard when none of the featured characters have any health.

Here's my conundrum. I'm traveling for work starting Monday afternoon and won't be done until after the event ends. I'll be able to play a bit, but definitely not every node, every 2h24m. When's the best time for me to join? Jump in now and get as many points as possible in the early subs? Or wait until closer to the end for a slacker bracket even though I won't be able to play much during that time?
  • So virtually no rb this pve?

You have a 15% chance at 10K to pull a Ms Marvel which will dig you out of that hole. I doubt you get another chance at 50K. The other options is to throw the dices and by the Hunt Daily deal. If you can place top 50 in all the subs - something I cannot see happening with Ms Marvel you would get most of the 200 HP back assuming you feel lucky.

The rubber band is basically the same as the last 4 or 5 events.

Usually you can place well in The Hunt by playing just the last hour of every sub. (I do that every time, and always place well enough for the top rewards.) If you can do that, you should be fine.

Otherwise, I'd say wait as long as possible if you can't play at the end of the subs consistently. It's more risky, but if you join early and don't play late, you're almost guaranteed not to place well.

I'd say join as late as possible for your main bracket then. If you join now, all the people in your main bracket will have the chance to play every sub, that you won't have a chance to play much. That'll put you way behind. You could end up a top finisher, if you were able to get into the last main bracket and were playing against people that had about the same amount of time as you.
  • Florida has so many nodes it drives me crazy every time I play it.

I haven't thought about the structure of this event but since the points do not increase you need to try to figure out the time where you joined a bracket with as few people that already have an entire sub's worth of lead on you because that is almost certainly impossible to be made up. I don't think it'd be possible to find a time where nobody has a sub's lead on you after the first sub ended, but maybe there's a point where the number of such people are minimized. I'm assuming you're not going for any progression reward, since you won't be able to hit them all if you join late looking at the current points but there doesn't seem to be anything exciting there either.

If I had to guess I'll try to join sometime after Florida ended because Florida has historically been the worst sub so maybe it is less likely for people to have a ton of points from Florida to carry over to the next one?
