I was hoping for a little break between PVE events. Guess not0

Well, this is a bit brutal. I can't use any of the boosted 3* characters, as I've hardly any covers for them (1 green Hulk, 1 yellow Falcon, 1/1/1 Shulk ) so I'm having to rely on some very squishy people here. Plus the essential nodes are basically a 2 character show at the moment, although that might get better. I may as well wave bye-bye to Blade right now.0

If it makes you feel any better the boosted characters mostly suck. Falcon is a support character and is terrible boosted because he ends up tanking all the colors with his relatively low health pool. Hulks not bad but his abilities don't do very much damage and his anger tiles are hard to proc when his health gets scaled too high. She Hulk is meh, her blue isn't bad against goons and her red does respectable damage but I'd rather bring a non-boosted power house.
Essential nodes suck. Marvel only gets a 75 level boost so my 4-covered 2* gets boosted from 25 to 100. With no covers her red does a whopping 500 damage against level 110+ characters. She also isn't strong enough to tank any colors so I'm really going in down a character. It'd be nice if she was a least a punching bag to save my 3*'s some health with her enhanced regen due to boosting.0 -

You shouldn't feel bad at all. Aside from the essential character node, people who have low tier rosters consistently place very high in PVE due to lower scaling.0 -
I was a little worried about not having a good powered up 3*, but if your highest level is 94 (maxed 2*s), the maxed 2*s can all put in work. Pretty much all mine are good (storm, obw, torch, ares, daken, thor) at tanking some of the match damage if nothing else. Wishing I had any other covers than two black for Ms Marvel though, I can look forward to my amazing 3 black cover Ms Marvel in the near future!1!0

Yeah, I guess the scaling will work in my favour. I have a very strong 2* roster, all 94s except for Moonstone and Bullseye, although I do have a couple of low 100 3* characters, a level 100 Nick Fury, and a 120 LCap. Hopefully that won't hurt me too much. I could level Cap to 140 ish, but I think that would be pushing it.
Shame there aren't more all goon nodes in this sub. I was having a blast last time round with CStorm/MMag/MHawk getting into crazy power combos. They are just too low health to go up against Daken though.0 -
This I what I sometimes hate about MPQ.
If you didn't get top 200 in the last event to get MM you cannot do the essential nodes in Hunt and so have 0 chance of 70k over 4.5 days to get an MM cover that way. And forget top 150 for Blade.
Yes, you might get lucky and pull MM (oo er missus) from a token from progression, but without her good luck getting 50k for the 2nd progression token.
Those without 3* Cap in Unstable ISO had no chance of a decent score there. There's a chain of reliance that blocks progress and disadvantages those who don't already have a diverse roster.
I could suggest it's just a cash grab to make us spend HP on tokens, but that appears to be a tired refrain here.0 -
Falcon is plenty strong but if you got him at a level where he can contribute then you're likely at a point where scaling becomes a major factor which trumps everything else.
Alaska is borderline reasonable. Florida always sucked and don't see why it'd be any different this time. Savage Land typically has the highest level but the nodes are more reasonable so it sort of balances out. All the essentials are practically 2 on 3 and the advantage of having Captain Marvel is greatly reduced because even at the reduced level/high value, 2on3 is just rough. Don't mess with Daken, and try to avoid Ares, though there are really no pushover combination of enemy in this event from what I recall. Even Yelena is always going to be with someone like a Pyro.0 -

I would be shocked if you can't hit 70k and get mm in time to rb into t150. Assuming you don't get her from a token. Remember she's a 2* so you greater chance of getting her from a token. A progressive or sub token. Not a HP token.0 -

Well, Wolveroach doesn't have her, I'll keep track of his progress in terms of points available and node levels.
Moon Roach (being a profligate idiot) just bought a Hunt 10-pack and got 4 MM covers, so the Moon Roach luck is still running true.0 -

Obviously, you come to these forums. So, you saw Blade was going to be released in the next Event starting on 10/24. D3 ALWAYS (maybe there has been an exception) makes a just released character an Essential in the next PvE Event.
Whoa. What? What are you talking about? The first I'd ever heard about Blade was yesterday on Facebook. I'm on this forums every day, looking for news. You're telling me some of you knew Blade was coming? How? Where was this announcement?
The earliest mention of Blade I can find on these forums is 10/23.0 -

Right, first run through went something like this:
Cleared The Hunt, and Welcome To The North, 1070 points.
Using Thor, Hawk, Mag (all 2*)
Easy Pickins, 142 points, 43/44/43, win, 1112
More Fodder, 174 points, 66/66/66, win, 1384
Clever Girl, 108 points, 53/53/53, win, 1490 (actually 106)
Clever Girl II, 265 points, 80/81/80, win, 1752 (actually 262)
Clever Girl III, 293 points, 87/88/88, win, 2038 (actually 286)
The Hunter, 130 points, 64/64/64, win, 2168 (standard token, get Psylocke blue)
Outta My House, 160 points, 66/66/66, lost
Swap to OBW, Wolv, Storm (all 2*)
Outta My House, 160 points, 61/62/61, win, 2328
Let's Dance, 347 points, 95/96/95, 2668 (actually 340)
The unplayable essential nodes are:
New Guy 340, 58/59/59
Clean Up Crew, 370, 57/57/57
Last of 'em, 340, 57/58/57
For a total of 1050 points
With 2668 he's #129 in his bracket, current leader is Accident-eLe on 8278
Stay tuned for the next exciting instalment, same bat-time, same bat-channel.0 -

I think It's more of the fact that D3 -always- seems to make the 'character won' the 'next Essential character' REGARDLESS if it is an older character or a newer character or what.
In fact, I have a hard time remembering a case where this WASN'T the case. Maybe back in early 2014 maybe? Late 2013?
But Doc Oc was Essential, Psylocke was Essential, Steve Rogers was Essential, GSBW was Essential, etc and ALL of these characters were released as the top 150/100/whatever that number is prize in the PvE that ran previous to it and/or the PvP running concurrently.0 -

That piece of information is interesting. Is your highest character level 94? My node is at 204 and it's rated 'normal', and at first I think that's pretty unfair but maybe a mix of 4*s, 3*s boosted to 196 and what normally would've been a level 256 3* versus 204 is close enough for 134 (94 minor boosted) versus 95 but don't have all the possible combinations. Of course, since scaling in this game seems to be multplicative, when you multiply those levels by 2 the balance breaks down rather badly, but maybe it's supposed to make sense at some point. Just not for very long once additional scaling kicks in.0 -
Wolveroach's second clear when the nodes got to full points.
Keeping with Thor, Wolv, OBW
Clever Girl, 99 points, 52/53/52, win, 2768 (actually 100) (20 ISO)
Clever Girl II, 248 points, 81/82/84, win, 3019 (actually 251) (20 ISO)
Clever Girl III, 279 points, 89/89/89, take a dive with a team of 1 cover 3*, made no difference
Clever Girl III, 278 points, 89/89/89, win, 3299 (actually 280) (500 ISO)
The Hunter, 129 points, 64/65/64, 3559 (actually 130) (500 ISO)
Wait for Outta My House, not quite full
Outta My House, 160 points, 66/66/66, win, 3589 (20 ISO)
Let's Dance, 340 points, 96/97/97, win, 3929 (20 ISO)
Needed 3 health packs, gained 1261 points, 4/6 second wins got 20 ISO, no rubber-banding at all.
The essential nodes haven't changed at all.
61st place, leader still Accident-eLe on 10583
It's not looking too good for the 70k progression award. Still, things might change in 35 minutes when Florida opens up and I get to choose where to play, being unlikely to do both because of not having that diverse a roster and having to wait to heal.0 -

Wolveroach has OBW, Thor and Wolverine at 94, everyone else is lower. His best 3* is 3/0/3 Sentry at 75 but could be 89 if the ISO wasn't spent instead on the 2*.0 -
Yeah the boosted characters have little synergy.
I've got mHawk 134, cStorm 134, Hood (544) 102, LThor (334) 102, Patch (323) 102, Hulk 96 (221)...then all the 2*s at 94, 2* Ms Marvel 90 (021), She-hulk 85 (122), Falcon 83 (210)...Steve Rogers is (145) underleveled and most other 3*s are 2 covers in each skill, give or take.
Been playing for 200+ days, and I can't see ways to skimp on health packs. mHawk and cStorm are weak health, no healing characters are boosted, and the other boosted 2* is new. Having most nodes with 2 or 3 tiles movers means this might as well be a Heroic for me. Boosting an essential 2* so they don't even tank their own colors against unboosted makes it even worse. The 3 Clever Girls are already level 100+, and Venom is no fun at that level with goons feeding him and me with a dud team.
I'm not one to complain often, but these boosts are a joke to even me...luckily scores are so low, even a second clear or easier nodes will get me into top 10 for my bracket. At least I get to know the format for future events when Mags1587 fills in the blank for Episode 2 (and I'm looking forward to new runs of Thieves and Iso-8 Brotherhood for all that sweet, sweet HP).0
