  • Rubberband is not defined in strength relative to progression reward. It's defined in its strength relative to the overall leader. Getting 20K in a fresh run is nothing when you joined a bracket where the bracket leader has 40K that you'll never catch, who in term is never going to catch the overall leader who is probably sitting at 50K. I'm not sure how people missed it, but they have changed progression reward to the '1 easyish 3* cover for everyone' from quite a while ago. They used to try to make them challenging, but then we just end up scenarios where nobody had even half of the points needed for the top progression reward and that was very dumb. Even when they're sort of close it'd be like say The Hunt where HT cover is at 170K and the highest score was like 152K, so that's closer than 'nobody had half of the points needed' but that sure still doesn't make people feel good.

Has anyone been able to take Daken down at all today? His nodes are so tempting being worth a juicy 2000 points but seeing his level 200+ makes me run and hide - especially when he's sitting next to Ares.

I've taken down the lvl277 Daken in Who Is This Clown quite easily several times, just deny blue and try to destroy strike tiles. Full Stop is joining my "do not attempt" list as it doesn't seem doable unless you have a full health Thor ready to go. 16k Jugg and 11k Ares means several abilities are going off before the end of the fight.

Could anyone say when the current bracket is full? I feel it might be at 500+ already icon_cry.gif

Its @527 right now, so adding roughly 100/hr

This Event has a bit of a points tweak so that missions are worth more base but rubberbanding isn't as strong. Definitely going to look at it as the Event goes on and dig into post data, but the idea is to encourage people to play more at any time instead of waiting for rubberbanding to catch them up.

Anecdotally, I'll say that with the weaker rubberbanding, I've actually been able to get good nights' sleep, and not drop too far down the ladder. I'd say that this is good for people who can't play in the last 4 hours or so, because if they build a big enough lead, it's secure.

On the flip side, I was able to play most of the refreshes, on account of it being the weekend. I wonder if I'd like the weaker rubberband during the work week. I might find myself out of the running, with no way to catch up.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the refresh time got a slight lengthening. It takes 36 minutes to regen a health pack, 3 hours to get back all 5. At the very least, shouldn't the refresh rate match the health pack regen rate? And actually, an extra health pack would be nice, too. That would up the refresh timer to 3.6 hrs, and mitigate how much us working stiffs get tinykittied.

So, for now, I'll say: weak rubberband is good, with the caveat that I'd wish for an increase to 6 health packs, and longer refresh timer.

Quick question as I'm genuinely unsure of the answer:

The person in second in my bracket only has a lvl68 3* Thor from the list of allowed characters. Is he being given 2 loaner champs every fight or allowed to use anyone on his roster? He's got a lvl94 2* CapAm and Ares and a bunch of single cover 3*s.

    Full list in the spoiler:
    2* Ares 94
    2* CapAm 94
    4* Wolv 86
    4* Fury 78
    2* Mag 70
    3* Thor 68
    3* Psy 50
    3* Sentry 43
    3* Spidey 43
    1* Jugg 40
    3* Beast 40
    3* CapAm 40
    3* CapMarv 40
    3* DD 40
    3* Dr. D 40
    3* Torch 40
    3* IM 40
    3* Punisher 40

He's also listed as being in an alliance but isn't showing up in their alliance roster. Bug or cheating?

There is 100% sharding going on. I entered a bracket #997 with the leader over 42k pts.

    This is complete ****

if he only has 3* thor and no one else on the roster list, then he shouldn't be able to play any nodes. but i think he has a few.

it's because his level of opponents is way lower than his super buffed thor and can easily wipe the nodes he's playing.

His Thor should only be level 158 and because he has a level 94 character (even if its not an event char) his scaling shouldn't be that low. I listed his full roster, he has 0 1*'s besides Juggernaut. Been like that for a day, isn't roster inspection instantaneously updated?

    10th place in my bracket has a lvl50 3* Thor (0/0/2), lvl23 2* Widow (2/0/1), lvl17 2* Hawkeye (1/1/0), lvl17 2* Wolv (0/1/1). Ugh.

    This is complete tinykitty

You were expecting to join with less than a day left to go and to then score an easy win with the same rewards as someone that joined on day one and actually dedicated multiple days to the event?
Sorry, but that really says more about you than it does about the game.
  • A level 68 Thor is effectively level 158 and it we assume it just scales linearly he'd be fighting level low 100s enemy even on the highest nodes which Thor can handle fine. If he has no other hero to use he'd only be using Thor for every fight and the game does allow this. I remember seeing some teams that only had 2 characters in the DA only PvP event because that's all the DAs they have on roster. It won't work for essential missions but in this case Thor is the essential character so it wouldn't matter.

That'd actually be much better than having even a high level version of the other heroes because I find the problem of this event is that your supporting characters die very easily. Even if Thor tanks everything there's no shortage of Rockets in this event.

If that's the case that's pretty **** as it doesn't allow us to start a fight with a downed hero or two.

Yeah that's actually pretty messed up. A lot of the time I think I'd rather just start shorthanded in this event because it's not worth the trouble to revive someone compared to Thor.

I hate this event so much...
I can barely play it. I've got a level 124 Thor, a high level Hulk and a max level Hawkeye and a smattering of other characters and I can play a few rounds before my team's exhausted.

Most events I start at the high earner and move my way down, taking maybe 30-60 minutes to go through the whole board. This event...not a hope. Most of the fights take forever, assuming I even win, because it seems whenever I go up against the healing minions there are next to no yellow tiles on the board. One time I went ten minutes, not even kidding, and the enemy was still at full health because I couldn't ever remove the 2 turn healing countdown timers before they fired.

It's so dull and so tedious. I feel like I'm chewing my way through a wall to make any progress. And now the non-Thor-required nodes have his level 190 I feel the urge to bother dropping quickly.

I wish they'd stop introducing new characters on "Prologue hard mode!" because I rarely get above top 40. The levels ramp up so damn quickly.

Currently 931 players in my bracket. If you're planning to join soon you might want to hold off an hour or so. Will post again when it fills if I'm still around.

We're up to 978 so it'll fill in the next half hour or so I imagine. Will come post when it's full unless vudu or seshoma or Vairelome beat me to it

Edit: or bowgentle or tramtris, didn't mean to leave you guys out icon_e_smile.gif. Also, up to 986

With the really short events like this one, what's the best timing to join up?

With bigger events I normally wait 2 days, and one day for the smaller ones. Should I just wait two days regardless? Would I have had a better time just joining today and skip the previous days?

It depends what kind of rubberband they are emplying. Generally Main Nodes have more rubberband than the subs. Events with only a main Node used to have very strong rubberbanding, see the Venom Event. But for this one they turned that down a notch. So if you land in a stale bracket, you might not be able to climb up again.
  • At this point, you've left it to the last minute. Unless someone posts a "bracket filled" or "new bracket available" message, you're rolling the dice from here on out. It ends in 5.5 hours after all.

Start late and earn 20k in one run?

That's disgusting. No offense to you.
No offense taken. You know I don't like this situation neither.
Welcome in the world of rubberbanding / scaling / sharding / timing icon_twisted.gif
With rubberbanding I was able to join top50 in one run, then top 25 in 2nd run 2.5h later then 3rd and 4th run... to stay in top 25!
Soon I will be off to bed and tomorrow I will be out of top 150.

In summary, rubberbanding allows to fill the gap not to take the first place in one shot.
without rubberbanding I should have played a lot more to gain these points but I would have lost less ranks during my sleep
Anyway as I knew I will not play the last hours I chose to rubberband quietly today rather than gring for 2.5 days
