Doing a quick check I see The Best is #5 with Phillipes at 171k in first place for the alliance. Your highest char is lvl97 so you should be pretty stoked to place in the top 10. My bracket is 188k / 177k/ 173k / 171k / 170k for top 5, tenth is 165k so for the amount of effort you put in your position seems about right.

    - No, you can't play less and finish first, unless you join really late, and even then, you're against people that also joined late and will likely play optimally from that point, which you can't match.

Uh yeah you can...in fact it's the entire reason people were upset in Heroic Venom people joined the event sat there for 2+ days and then rubberbanded the end the same thing happens here it's just people rubberband the subs in this one. It's less likely to be successful in Simulator since there are in theory 2+ guys who can keep grinding throughout the entire thing but in practice it seems like most grinders start to scale themselves out.

    I'm 1st in mine with 178884, 2nd is 175636, 10th is 162461, I started pretty much at the beginning.

But now I have to take a break to work, then I can play at a late lunch, then it's missing the last 2 hours. I'll be happy with top 10, but will a 16k buffer be enough? Let's tune in to find out, after these messages.

To answer that question you left out the most important bit of information. What was the points differences at the end of the second sub? If at that time you were in 1st with a 16K lead over 10th then you be safe if however you were 10th then your chances will be between slim and none missing the last 2 hours.

    I meant in this event.

Sure, in the Venom you could go to the bathroom and come back 50 places lower. In this one, other than at the very beginnings of the subs where I've waited to join and the hard nodes are considerably easier, I haven't dropped more than ~10 spots all event, and that was more the EU/USA timing than rubberbanding.

[Sneakily having a tab open while supposedly writing a technical spec]

I've dropped down to about 8th when sleeping, but always crawled back up to lead by a couple of thousand over 2nd. At the end of the 2nd sub I was top, but not by too many. I have high hopes, and will post the updated figures once lunch is over.

And it's pretty easy to rubberband the subs in this event (climbing 50-100 spots on minimal effort in the final few refreshes)...it sounds like that might not have worked in the OPs bracket but then again grinding hasn't payed off to well either since now he's barely able to play the end.

EDIT: Actually looking back at what the OPs current score is 171K ridding the rubber should have worked out about as well for him (I'm at 176K through rubberbanding the subs) so worst case scenario he's still clawing his way back from 3rd but he's doing it with much lower scaling.

If you can clear them. I doubt anyone is clearing the hard nodes at this point with 'minimal effort.' Even the normal now is likely making a dent in your roster as you try to clear it late. Someone sitting 10k clear of 10th is not missing out on his 3 covers.

Clearing them is much easier when you have levels 100+ lower than the grinders. 10K is probably safe to keep Top 10 but this seems to be a complaint about losing 1st which sounds pretty hopeless to reclaim.

4.75 hours to go, just checked, still 1st by 301 points, top 4 are over 178k, 10th is still back on 166817, so my buffer is still 12k.

I should be able to pick up another 10k or so at lunch. Ooh, this is exciting.

With a couple of hours to go, I'm back to 1st at 187481, by 700 points. 4th is 180044, then a drop to 174265 for 5th. 10th is 170771, so a 17k buffer should be enough for top 10.
  • Just playing for top 10 in subs. I've got months to finish Fury before I put any ISO in him.

X-Force is a farce no longer.

My bracket is rough. I have 194,369 points but ended up third. It was a tough fight for Top 2 between john1620b (198,800), ShadowWL (197,316) and me. Fourth place was 183.632. Congrats to those two as I still had a fighting chance until around 10 minutes to go. Then they pulled away rather quickly which was surprising because I was already recycling through my nodes for the second time playing for points that were only 400+ and level 300+ enemies. I think the problem might have been that I was first in both easy and hard subs which didn't give me much points to rubberband to. icon_e_sad.gif

I'd be interested to know what it was like for those two with their nodes and all.

3rd....it should feel like a job well done, but in reality it feels like a punch to the gut.....

Worst part is I don't need the red Thor...just wanted that Fury...oh well, someone's gotta be 3rd I suppose...guess it was my turn....

    Just checked, 3rd. 1st was 192k, 2nd was 193k, I had 187k, 4th was 184k, 10th was 173k.

I'm happy I didn't drop any lower. And I got 2nd in Hard (snicker), so a few tokens. (Update: 4 tokens, I pulled 3 Bullseye, 1 Moonstone, oh dear.)

Got my Fury. I opened up a 6k lead with about 6 hrs left, guys behind me mostly backed off. Freezze from X-men2 finished with 192k, me 182k, rest of top 10 168-175k. Joining about 8 hrs late helped, it seems.

And 5 tokens to boot. 1250 ISO is really the most important part of it all.

Sorry Danae, you put up a good fight. icon_e_smile.gif I really wanted that blue Fury, so I made sure to hit every refresh I could. My scaling may not have been quite as bad as yours (no 400+ level enemies), but I avoided the hard sub at the end because it was killer -- I was only doing the essentials and the Fury + goons node toward the end.

    Best of luck next time!
  • 197K for first. The action seems to be quite subdued as my lead in main was never threatened and 1.5 passes on hard/normal secured 1st in both subs too. Although the brackets are smaller for subs (200), I had pretty big lead for less than 2 passes, though I was down to 2 health packs by the time I was done with 1.5 passes so I guess even making 2 passes in the final cycle is quite difficult now.
  • Congrats, Phantron. We kept trading off 1st and 2nd over the last few days, but you pulled ahead at the end. I had all my nodes at full points with an hour to go, and cleared most of them 2-3 times, but still couldn't catch you. Well done.
