Unless you're holding on to a pack you bought it won't matter the individual ones have been 1.5% for Sentry, Beast, and Daken for all three subs.

Pretty sick. Didnt think points would inflate so much. Wish i started later.

I wonder if this is a different version or rubberband in a sense that you can catch up on progression but isnt as bad as pure rubberbanding like we saw in the previous PvE.

I;ve been holding a 15k lead on 10th spot for much of the event. Which tells me, the only way I will slip up is if I stop playing completely. Perhaps this is the right balance in terms of if you put in the time and lead I should not be afraid of people catching up to me. But those who wish to play and relax can be assure that they can easily gain ground on progression. Not too bad if you ask me

Why are people always crying about stuff that doesn't matter? If you can actually pull that kind of points, you'd be close to 120K right now and either comfortably leading your bracket, or locked in some kind of hour to hour deathmatch. Either case the knowledge of there being a ton of points don't really matter to you. If you missed the first sub, you'd have to average the equivalent of 34K on the first sub in order to finish with 120K with only 2 sub's worth of points, which is an awfully high standard for the average guy (that score might've been enough for a top 10 in my bracket, and it'd definitely be enough for top 10 in some brackets). If this event increased by 25% per sub like it used to you'd need a pace of 32K on the first sub which most people will miss. The increase in points put the pacing at 26.6K on first sub, which should be comfortable doable for a top-10 capable player but it's hardly a walk in the park for people who are not at that level.

Nothing has changed. The points of Simulator usually increased by 25%, so if node 1 is 100 point in the first sub, it's 125 point in the second sub and 150 in the third sub. This time it's 100/150/200 instead. A 15K lead now is roughly the same as 7.5K lead in the first sub assuming you don't do something like not playing at all in the last day, so that's a sizeable lead and it should hold. If we're on 100/125/150 your lead would be 15K * (225/250) = 13500, and it'd be worth an equivalent of 9000 points (13500/1.5) in the first sub, so the lead would've been even harder to overcome under the old system. This is expected since 100/150/200 is a bigger jump than 100/125/150 which decreases the value of the early lead.

Ah, thanks. I guess I just missed the single pack odds when I looked at them a little bit ago. Oops.

All gone a bit quiet in here. How's everyone finding the final set of subs?

Currently sat on 107k so pleasantly surprised that I'll end up with another Beast. who knows, maybe even a lazy thor too

This event has made me fall in love with Ares. What an absolute champion he is. Wish I'd got his covers earlier, he'd have been my first maxed 2* if so, I'm sure

I went to bed in 2nd with about 117k, but it's a 4-way fight for that spot. (I think 1st can't be caught if he tries, but also think he jumped up by taking advantage of EU timing, so maybe). I grinded the hard down to nearly nothing before bed, trying to get as many points from there as possible before scaling kicks in and slows me massively down. I'll open the normal some time today.

I'll get 3 Thor (no alliance) with little hassle, just a question of whether I can outgrind for Fury now.

I'd say 90% of what I've been doing has been the essentials. Have a run through of the regular nodes when I first open each sub, but then really just stick to the essentials unless I'm bored. And that's been good enough for top 40 in my bracket, pretty consistently.

Suppose I really should have a proper grind tonight to try to get as high as possible as won't be around for the finish
  • I hit 120k this morning, plus I've got workdays for the rest of this thing, so I'm going to have to take my foot off the gas a bit. I did a single pass of everything yesterday, and I'll probably just hit essentials until tomorrow evening. Tomorrow evening I'll do as much as I feel like. I don't need the covers, and my alliance will be cleanly in the 3-50 zone regardless of what I do at this point, so there's little payoff to hammering this thing tomorrow, especially since the next PVE will likely introduce a new character, and I'd like to keep my scaling down for that.

I had the good fortune of starting PVE this morning with a fresh bracket--I entered in 125th place. The second sub ended a half hour ago and the bracket still only has 318 people in it.

If anyone is thinking of starting late to go for the blue Fury cover I'd suggest you wait until my bracket fills up.

I'm currently in first with 62K points and you'd never have a chance of catching up since you'd be behind a sub. I'll post here again if/when my sub finally fills.

EDIT--4 hours have passed and there are still only 420 people in my bracket. It may never fill up at this rate.
This bracket has been open for well over 24 hours and still only 849 people in it.

I repeat, if you are trying to join late to nab the blue Fury do not start yet. You'll be in for a world of disappointment.

    EDIT--almost full. Currently at 953.

Given that rb is pretty strong in this event, is it possible for a bracket leader to have built an 18k lead without employing ummm.... "innovative" play techniques?

Easily so. There's more points in these subs than the first two, and optimal play > rubberband. If they're having an easier time clearing the scaled-up hard nodes, then the advantage is even bigger for optimal play.

There's also a timing issue, different time zones will do their final wipes at different times, so 18k may only be because they did a final clear before bed and they won't budge for a while.
  • im currently in Pos 1 with 15.2k with a 30k lead over 10th spot. Hopefully this is enough to secure 3 Lthors covers. Getting a nick fury will be a bonus to me.

No, it's not that. I've seen this guy before, and he always wins PvE by huge amounts.

... and he never seems to go to bed either...
  • I'm a bit disappointed in the "repeat" nodes in the subs this time around. Playing the same node for days sucks! That's why previous Simulator events were awesome!

You mean where the enemies in Normal are transitioned to Hard in the following sub? That's called LazySim(TM) and it already happened last time

Prior to them rotating the enemy teams, I think we faced the same teams in Normal and Hard subs at the same time. So this is better.

We did...I'm not sure this is better but it's certainly no worse.
  • I'd say it's less monotonous, at least.
