I like BoP as a concept but not as part of a season - the last one left my MMR seriously screwed up for over a week after it was finished.
Because the last one was off-season there was no SHIELD Simulator to use for tanking. You should be able to manage your MMR this time around.

Seems like an advantage to have fully covered unleveled characters since they'll be back at full health very quickly.
This is brilliant. I might create a new level 1 Juggs and use him instead of my level 40 Juggs.
  • Wow this tournament is fantastic for me. I have probably 2/3 of the characters max covered, but only handful leveled to a usable place. Time to get my mad scientist experiments on!

First up: Deadpool, 2* Storm, The Hood. Active in every color with no overlap so the AI will play it properly, extra healthbar for the squishies, and highly potent AoE attacks (6500 for DP and 5000+4 stun for storm).

I assume level 1 Juggs doesn't get the AP cost benefit.

Definitely bringing the IM35 - Bullseye - Falcon troll defense team back for this one.

He does if you have him fully covered. I'm rocking a 5/5 level 1 Juggernaut right now at level 270. It's amazing.

I see your IM35 and raise you a Loki!
  • My 5/5 lvl 8 jugs is by very, very far the best character in my roster. I'd go so far as to say that it's the best character in this tournament straight up.

Removed my previous post. Somehow I missed that EVERYONE was leveled to level 270, not the same way as last time this ran.

Tanking wasn't the issue - it was as if I'd tanked the entire time in BoP. The first couple of events after it I could never see anyone with better than a L50 character until I'd gotten close to 700 points - and when they're only offering up single digits for a win that can take a while.
  • Juggy/ares/tinyDaken. Probably the best offering I can field at the moment given the required characters for the pve. I really liked Ares/obw/tinyDaken in the first iteration. The plus side is that headbutt at this level really is everything everyone said it would be. I might even like it a little better than double dipping espionage off of 6-12 strike tiles... icon_e_smile.gif

The caveat is that sunder really takes a bite out of more matches if that countdown doesn't go off due to ending the match early, or it being matched away.

I would agree with you if not for the fact that my 5/5 level 1 juggerman is even better. 20k health? Oh yeah, I'll be ready to go again in about 12 minutes.

I'm really sort of annoyed I juiced mine up for Combined Arms now icon_mad.gif

Just did my first match with Torch/tinyDaken/Hood - it was glorious seeing Flame Jet busting out 3.5K damage every turn plus the odd 5K Fireball icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • People seem to like OBW/Ares/Juggs but the problem with that is how squishy OBW is and she tanks so many colors. She constantly needs healthpacks.

As someone above mentioned Ares/Juggs/Daken seem ok to climb. They only cover 3 colors really but I don't think I would want to fight that team.
I'm grinding the Simulator a bit for Juggs covers and I am thinking about making him 4/5. That way Ares fires off his green instead of Juggernaut. Is that good or is the shakeup better? Speaking about defense here.

Actually fielding a lvl 1 Juggs and a lvl 15 Daken icon_mrgreen.gif So technically could cycle through my whole roster as the third before needing a healthpack.

    I'm using OBW/MStorm/Juggs

Use OBW Blue to heal Juggs after a 6k+ butting of heads, OBW Purple keeps the opposition HP down, feeding green and yellow to Storm who then mostly gets into a positive feedback loop. (And team-ups actually become useable.) I had a memorable match where I took down Thor and Hulk in one continuous set of special moves / match-5. Makes up a little for the cascades of doom that usually come the other way.

Climbing to 500 has been fairly easy; overnight I lost about 30 points but got a lot of defensive wins. Looks like people underestimate this combination, including a member of X-Men 2. Priceless.

    I like this tournament.

Between this event and the alliance team-ups, it's a weird metagame they've set up, where it pays to have fully covered, min-leveled characters.

since everyone is boosted to level 270 all you need is money to compete for him!
Might as well just buy the cover, rather than spend a ton trying to shield-hop this nonsense. Trying to build a score in this event is like trying to run in quicksand.

That kind of pre-supposes that you already have a Fury Blue. Though I guess if you're able to compete for 1st you're in a top 10 alliance and so probably do.

    I like this tournament.

Just going to say this in defense of the Xmen... I usually rejoice when they hit me early when climbing, since that generally means 50 points later in the tournament once they're at ridiculous totals.

Some of them (Worldrunner) generally seem like quite cool people. You may now burn me at the stake.

    Heretic. icon_e_biggrin.gif

But lately I've taken to checking out who attacks me, and that's the first time I've ever got a defensive win against any alliance whose name I recognise. It wasn't intended as an anti-X-Men comment.
  • I just wish I could actually win fights, get points and not lose twice that much during my fight... It's near impossible to progress. A mechanic they really need to work on. As a minimum, I should get at least as many points as I lost in a retaliation, probably a slight gain because if it being a retaliation.

Or maybe limit how many people see me in their stack at once...

So frustrating that I cannot climb past 600 because of it.
