  • I pulled a yellow fury from a token the first day, kinda puts things in perspective. I'm gonna work to pull tokens from each sub and forget completely about the main event.

My first Fury (blue) from an Iso-8 token! Plus 3 3-stars, these are the tokens of life!
  • One Fury cover would lock in the Green Patch I really really need from this event. Been bouncing between 10th and 13th without access to the Fury nodes. 0 for 12 and counting

It's those damn tokens! One fury cover is one thing, but 30+ chances to draw one is another.

I've gotten around 10 tokens so far, no Fury, no 3*'s. I do not remember the last time I even got a 3* from a token. I get lots of 2*'s that I get drops in PVP, Shield Training, and Lightning Rounds, and are also progressive rewards in PVP's, Shield Training, Seasons, and PVE's.

Yea, working hard for nothing is supposed to be its own reward I guess. In which case, I'm getting just as or more "rewarded" just than the next person.

As a player stuck in 2* land, it is the only mode I can excel at now. PVP is immensely frustrating, as no matter how hard you push, you are pretty much capped at a certain level by all the components of the system. Back when I first started, with solid effort I could place top 10. Now if I push hard, top 50 is about the best case scenario. I've been close to top 25 a few times (#27 only recently). So, I'm now 'stuck' getting a single cover from pvp events at best.

The only other alternative was to try to shift focus to pve, and while they are a long slog, I'm new enough to the game to still enjoy it, as well as all the base rewards that roll in from doing them. I liked taking #1 in The Hulk event. My wife laughs at me whenever my timer goes off indicating its time for a node clear session, but to date that's all its really required during waking hours where I could play.

Plus, with the time in between pvp events, and how often any one character gets put into the mix as a reward, it'd be eons before a character could be finished. Events that give out one of each color for a [pve] monster toon like lazy cap really feel worth it, even if it is long.

Unfortunately for my gaming habits, I started a new job today. It starts a lot earlier, so no more late finishes. I get less break time also, so no more clears during work at all probably. *sigh*. It was fun while it lasted. icon_e_smile.gif Perhaps I'll still be able to manage top 20+ finishes, even if #1 becomes out of reach due to work schedule. I mean, I took 2 days off to take my wife to northern Maine (complete cell phone dead zone where we stayed), and I only dropped from 7th to 39th in the main, and since climbed back up to 30th.

Toughest part about clawing back up in this one is that there doesn't seem to be an ability to do more than one pass before bed/work, etc. Ares in yellow colored nodes is just owwies. He seems to wreck MnMags pretty much every node he's in.

So what is the scaling currently tied to if it's not the amount of damage you take?

Current scaling is too tame for any meaningful test to be done. That is, back when stuff scaled to 395 it's easy to see what made stuff go up a lot and what did not. Right now scaling seems to max out at level 150 which isn't anything special to people running maxed rosters so it's also hard to figure out what makes it go up. If I had to guess I'd say it's a higher of (community scaling) or (your PvE event points scaled by some factor). You can pretty much grind away with impunity now in terms of scaling and that seems only possible if scaling is based on PvE points instead of number of wins.

I wonder if they're testing new scaling algorithms and this is what scaling will look like in the future. While we still have broken combos in higher levels of play I enjoy being able to use more than just those pairings. Plus it feels like I'm being rewarded for having multiple viable 3* than punished for doing well and scaling being driven so high. Probably just being optimistic, but I'm hoping this is a legitimate change because I think it's in the right direction.

It's not so bad when you think of it as 9 1-day grinds for ISO/HP/lotto tickets.

I think the people in my main have given up. I've just been keeping pace for Top 50 and there's hardly been any movement since the Russia sub ended.

Either that or the 12 hours shift changed things. I have moved up a lot today and I haven't played much more than prior subs
  • Had a change of minus 2K compared to #2 and #3 since I was not able to play until about 4 hours left to go with the sub (plus some token points I got earlier in the day) and dropped down to #2.

While I don't like heavy rubberbanding, this 'grind every 2H 24M for 24 hours' deal is getting a bit crazy at the top. Maybe they should consider reducing the number of stacks in a mission or increase the time it takes to refresh.

I'm not entirely sure how it happened but Thunderkittens has turned into a PVE capable alliance...

No need to grind to excel in this event. These last four subs I wait till about 6 hours left. Do two clears and then a few of the highest nodes right at the end. I've gotten top 10 twice and top 50 twice. Really, not putting much effort in and I'm top 10 in main right now.

Fallout has two who quit the PvE and we are a few spots ahead of you guys (for the moment, heh). So far, this has been a fun and easy PvE. This is how I wish the game was most of the time. Really just wanted a match 3 game to pass the time. This PvE is more to that objective actually. Just come in play a little, get some rewards.!

The Colombia sub-event, there's only two repeatable nodes besides the essentials, right?

This may be true if you're in the one true timezone (TM) which is anything American.
If you're in Europe, you're SOL because the second half of the subs and OF COURSE the end of the PVE ends at 5/6 am for you.
So there's zero point in even trying to do well if you're not prepared to get up and grind for the end of the subs and the end, which is why I don't even bother playing this PVE.

Yes, Europe _can_ place well if we skip an hour of sleep (or 2 if there is more than one sub) but I'd hardly call it "come play a little for some rewards" for the second half of the event.

The perk of having a newborn is that I'm awake in time for a last minute run through the nodes. The downside is I'm a complete zombie

Yes, I noticed that they seemed to have accidentally made the 3rd node non-repeatable.

I've gotten nodes as high as the 190s in this PvE. Still not killer, but a lv190 Sunder is no fun.

That really stinks. That's the Goon only node in that sub. I'm not sure what they expect me to do to raise my score when the scaling starts sending out Uber-Hood and his cadre of Muscles.
