Once again, once more, EU players got screwed

  • This May have been said before in various posts but I can easily see two solutions to these problems with the time the PVE events more often then not finish especially if we look at the time the Heroic Venom event finished.

Suggestion 1 have all PVE events finish on a Weekend.

Im a EU player and if an event is finishing on a Sunday morning at 4 or 5 am (GMT) I don't mind getting up early or going to bed late as im not going to work later that day so i can sleep in or nap during the day. Im sure most of the EU player base would be the same (your still going to get a few who have to work weekends) but at least then the majority of players would be in a position where they could be competitive till the end of the event

I will take the Heroic Venom event as a perfect example for me the event ended at maybe 3 or 4 am on a Tuesday morning. I had to get up for work at 6.30am so i had to go to sleep at 11pm on the Monday. Just before i went to sleep i was in 3rd place when i woke up i was 247th place.
Now was i expected to stay up and let my job be effected as would have had little to no sleep? but as stated in suggestion 1 if it had been on a weekend it wouldn't have mattered and maybe just maybe i would have got the beast that i had spent 3+ days working my butt off to be in a good place to get the reward i was aiming for.

    Suggestion 2 EU/US Brackets/Events.

Im sure the player base is large enough that you could put a section in the settings where we select what zone we are in EU/US or a way to pull the information from our IPs we play the game from
This then ensures we are put in an event with other people who are also in the same zone, EU vs EU and Us vs US at least this way we are all playing with people who are roughly within our own time zones and when im asleep most of the people im against will also be asleep.

Im sure either of these solutions wouldn't be too difficult to implement and would hopefully improve moral for the majority of EU players.

Well im going to stop babbling on as im sure this post will get ignored by all the devs like all the post from EU players but i wanted to get it off my chest
  • Those are great suggestions mystress1980. But we have not even seen D3P/Demiurge acknowledging that this issue exists for most of us in this time zone, let alone working on a solution.

@DrUnpleasant - I hear you. I used silent vibration-only alarm when I had to wake up in the early morning when I still bothered. Luckily 4am is a pretty deep sleep time for the wife. However, I'm not willing to do that any more.

Went to bed #4. Woke up #225. Bye-bye Beast. The latest entry in a long line of the developers flipping the bird at their non-US players.

PvP is impossible to compete for new 3*'s without an already solid 3* roster. PvE is impossible to compete for new 3*s due to the consistently unfavorable ending times and the damned rubberbanding mechanic.
And now there is talk of the developers perhaps opting to 'vault', i.e. , make unobtainable, older 3*s to make room for the new ones. Great...

Transitioning EU players are just plain screwed no matter which way you look at it.

And like I mentioned in the Heroic Venom event thread; the developers don't care. They seem to be content treating EU and other timezones as the built-in fall guys to fill out the lower guts of the placement ladders.

Yes and no. The introduction of new PvP events like Balance of Power is breaking this rule - there actually 2* rosters dominates - and now it is also part of Season V. So I am kind of hoping for more of such events. But the truth is, as long as you have close to maxed out 'feature character' in standard PvP, your chances for higher placement are sky high.
  • It would just be nice to get some response from the Devs or are the EU player base of no real interest to them??

Especially when we do try and help and make viable suggestions

Lots of people have tried. Personally I've flagged it in the suggestions forum, asked in nearly every Q&A thread, PM'd IceIX, kept this thread visible, highlighted the number of 'likes' this issue has been given on Facebook and Youtube, pointed out the complaints on the Play store review page...

Nothing, nada. I understand they're busy, but yet seem to find the time to post about news, updates and minor bugs. I've given them the benefit of the doubt up until the last week or so but it seems they're just purposely ignoring us.
  • ok then

    CALLING OUT ALL DEVS

As someone who has actually been a Dev and a community forum manger in my past it seems atrocious that they seem to be ignoring this issue.
I know its hard to read every post but come on its not like this is the first one about this issue

So on behalf of all the EU players Im calling you out, come and talk to us before you start alienating all of your EU Player base.
I know most of you if not all of you are probably from the US so you may be in bed or getting ready for work but we are here and were waiting for you
Do you even care about your EU player base? or would you be happy if we all withered and faded away?

They are purposely ignoring us; that's exactly it.
Iirc a substantial amount of time back there was a single throwaway post from 'one of the red names' that flat out stated cost-benefit wise it was not worth it to cater anything to markets in timezones other than the US, because the number of players from those markets was insubstantial. (Kind of a self-fullfilling prophecy, if you think about it...)

Now usually the last (and admittedly most ugly) resolve you have as a group of disgruntled customers when faced with such a statement is to cause a big enough shitstorm to force the other party to address the issue anyway lest their reputation take a blow. However, the developers here have gone on record as not giving a toss about that form of complaining on the forums or a toss about their reputation either here on these forums or on reviews in app stores. They have infact admitted to willfully ignoring that kind of thing until it eventually simmers down and dies out. ('This too shall pass', for those familiar with the quote.)

Their nihilist take on community management means that you as a customer are quite literally at their mercy, and that you probably should not count on them having any for you. Scary and sets a very bad precedent for all other things to come with this game, especially if you take into account the overreliance of these people on their self-devised metrics.

So the real question should be what do the EU players have to do to get their attention?
Start a Were EU and we wont be ignored so listen to us thread?
    An on-line petition?
All stop playing the game or stop paying for anything in game?

But then again i guess we all know even if every EU player said they would stop playing they wouldn't as we all have responsibilities to our alliances and we wouldn't want to let them down icon_e_sad.gif

God Damn you D3P just take us EU players seriously and talk to us

As they do not reply to any kind of crowd-complaint or protest campaign, your only resolve is to vote with your wallet and stop spending. Ofcourse, by the developer's own accord the EU segment of their audience as a whole is already small enough that it doesn't contribute substantial enough earnings to warrant an additional server, so good look on making a dent in their income with a few of the vocal complainers keeping their wallet shut: the developer would probably just ignore and dismiss the minor dip in income and move on as is.

My guess is you are Mss1980 and not Mrs1980; kids still wake up at 8:00 spot on weekends, far worse than going to work!! icon_lol.gif

Gogo Option 2 for we poor parental players!
  • The last PvE was the absolute worst kind for EU players. No subs with full rubber banding right to the end BUT tapering off at a couple of thousand points behind the global leaders.

This means not only would you absolutely need to be on at the end to maintain your score BUT you need to be on for the last couple of refreshes before the end because you can't just make a frenzied last minute dash and hope to out-speed people. So that's sleep in 2 hour blocks (which is not much use) or lose places even if you're willing to wake ridiculously early.

On one PvE event they had subs then main nodes with zero rubber banding. Although not perfect it was massively more fair on EU players because you couldn't just be overtaken by any old American (or other similar timezones) player who turns up for 3 refreshes in the evening and maybe goes to bed a bit late if they're on the east coast.

I don't know what their reasons are for repeatedly unfair PvE designs but I can only imagine it's some financial metric which takes priority over good game design, any sense of fairness or treating your player base well.

i must confess that woke up at 4 am to ground 270 venom/rag/daken to compete for a meh character is not my definition of fun.. but hey.. im the one who woke up.. D3 didnt ring up my phone up to force me to play.. its completely self inflicited.. to be honest, it will be certainly more simple to have beast covers in pvp.. but i feel you.. grinding all day to insure top 10 until 5-6 hrs before finish.. and see you re out of the top 100 the morning after is a very frustrating experience.. As of now, the only choice left is going for it in the last hour or so, or igoring pve with rubberbanding altogether.. cause the devs won't adress anytime soon these mechanics that seemed to work "as intended"..
  • A thought for you all....

What do you think would happen if..

everyone, Man, woman and child turned of their games for 48 hours, didn't play, didn't buy any HP. Players from all over the world showing that we are the people that make this game possible, without the players, the people that compete in event after event their game would be no where. That we demanded that they take our issues seriously and listen to us and respond to us openly and whilst not just thinking of how they can line their pockets with our money.

Do you think they would listen?
Do you think they would be bothered at all?

I suppose devs need to see how many EU players are playing this game. Maybe we should make one thread, where we - EU players - post something about us? E.g. our country. Just to see numbers.

Not a bad idea, but it wont work. Only a small % of players actually read the forum. Also, not everyone would stop. Some would see it as an opportunity to play unopposed while everyone else has their game off.

@ DrUnpleasant, be careful waking the wife with your alarm. I did that once. Once! Afterwards she beat the living **** outta me. I still can't walk staight, and I get jumpy everytime I see someone holding a baseball bat. icon_e_sad.gif

Pretty similar to Marvel: War of Heroes, suggesting no play or expenditure for one day to make Mobage witness their own greed, look how well that turned out (the idea failed even with good intention).
  • I know but a girl can dream
  • I was 1st in my bracket in Venom PVE 7 hours before end.
    I finished 245th.
sorry but this is really **** up.
