Once again, once more, EU players got screwed

New low for the devs this time. First two subs for the Hulk event lasted 12 hours during which the average UK/EU player is probably active for 2 or 3 (if they knew the event was coming).
I my case I checked my phone at 10pm last night, saw the event and checked the forum - turns out I was already 2hrs into the 12 hour sub. I ended up deciding to join the sub in the morning, which had 45m left when I woke up at 6:45.
So not only are the dev's ignoring this issue, they're actually making it worse. BRAVO. Still, with this 12 hour lark they're not going to win any friends with the US either.
Oh, and of course the main ends in the middle of the night, obv.0 -
Frankly, this time round, a lot more timezones are very bad and not just the EU. Unless you're the type that happen to be awake at 2am in the morning, the hulk event is bad for Asia as well as for Eastern US. The first sub ended at 2.40am EST and the second will end at 2.20am for me. The only region that comes to mind that isn't affected by this PvE are those on the West Coast or have a 12 hour difference from PST.0

Pretty much. I had time for one pass of the subs currently running, cramming in 20 minutes before 8am EST. Won't get another shot at it b/c I'm a Steam user. And certainly lost ground between 11pm and 2am last night too.
This event is pretty much for students/teachers/vacationing who can forgo sleep for 4 days.0 -
Just like America isn't the only region where players are, the EU isn't the only region where players are.
1. People complain the end times need to be shifted.
2. They give some shifted end times.
3. People complain on the new shifted end times.
I'm close to being done with the forum except to check announcements. It used to be productive, but now it's just a whine fest.0 -
Well these subs are perfectly timed for all those people living in the middle of the pacific ocean. . . .0

I hope you are joking. Since the game is worldwide someone will always be screwed. Shifting the end times to where almost everyone gets screwed is a legitimate player complaint. Also whining about the whiners is as bad as whining in the first place..0 -

No kidding someone will always get screwed. That's my point. There doesn't exist a set of end times where everyone will be happy with it. It's impossible.0 -

Endtimes that screw everyone is as good as they can do. When endtimes mess up everyone, there should be no complaining. While I fully admit, the PvE endtime needs to vary from midnight Eastern (ie middle of the night Europe), having the subevents end at 2am Eastern, 2pm Eastern, etc levels the playing field for all.0 -
event timers for Hulk are terrible for CST as well..
i think the pacific ocean poster had it spot on0 -

Read this thread. There are numerous suggestions that involve people not being screwed, and even examples of other games that use those systems.
It's REALLY simple - just offer 3 choices to players entering the event. One using the standard timings, one that is -6hrs (starts 6 hours earlier) and one that is +6hrs (ends 6 hours later). People can select the time that suits them AND it reduces spikes on the servers.
The downside? You'd have to wait a bit longer to get rewards if you're in the earlier start times.0 -

Nevermind, I take back all the kind words for the devs. Pointing to 4 straight pair of subs finishing late night in the US and during sleep time in Europe. Nothing new on this front.0 -
Managed to finish top 10 after consecutive nights having to wake up during the night (2am approx) and again at 5am in order to keep up with the leaders. Only missed one 5am where my alarm went off, waking up the wife, but I fell asleep again (dropped 6k points and almost out of the top 10).
All in all, even with the Nick Fury reward I've never been more inclined to think that I need to give up this game. The wife even said to me this morning that we'd have had a fantastic weekend if it wasn't for "that game".
- 2.5hr refresh times are TOO OFTEN. 6hrs apart should be more than enough.
- While some subs were in 'EU friendly' times, the majority were terrible - especially the 2nd half of the event.
So, for what it's worth (not a lot, but think about all the other EU customers), this next season will definitely be my last unless something is done by the devs to reduce the NEED for UK/EU people to wake up at 4am in order to be competitive for the top prizes.0 -

I had to wake up today at 4:30 am to secure my top 10 position (in the end I finished 3, but It was really impossible for me from very early on the event to catch the first two players), but it has been the only day I had to wake up at this time (I tried to syncronize as best as possible all the other refreshes and it worked).
My girldfriend got really upset with me this weekend too, three 1-2h sessions of play each day is going to cost me a break up :S :S :S :S :S
And once again, not one event, but two (hulk - spiderman) and the season finished at 6-7am for EU. I don't understand how people from other territories can complain, when 80% of the events (main, not sub) finish at 6am in EU. This is ridiculous0 -

Thought I'd try the lazy way and join a bracket on the last day, found out I got into a stale bracket, and just thought fk it. I'll wait for his covers in PvP instead.0 -

I think we all can agree that everybody is happy as long it's the children in South Africa and not us.
The Hulk Event was too much of a mess to pinpoint a single screwee. As long as MPQ doesnt introduce new servers for Europeans, there is little chance of EU Players getting the same end times as the US. Which is fine since it's a US company. Actually I've been fortunate since I haven't had to use a single 8 hour shield yet. So it could be a lot worse for me (European).0 -
Sooo, about a week ago I sent the following to IceIX. No idea if he's read it, but it's been a week (on top of the months waiting for a response through official channels) so here's what I wrote:Hi Ice,
Sorry for sending you a PM about this issue, but it would be greatly appreciated if you or another member of the team could respond to the serious issue of event end times. As I'm sure you are aware it is a common topic on these forums and posts on social media about the issue often get the most 'likes'.
The current situation is that MPQ customers in the UK and some EU countries are in a position where they have to wake up regularly at 4am/5am in order to maximise their points totals and rank well in PvE events. Failure to do so ends in significant ranking drops, especially when high rubberbanding is in effect.
We appreciate that fixing this issue may incur significant development time, and therefore is either not a priority or maybe even considered unviable on a cost/reward level for D3. At the moment we can only assume that D3 doesn't care about Europe based players and quitting is the only option available in the medium/long term.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Of course, the current PvE has now made it's regular midpoint switch from EU 'friendly' time to EU 'horribly unfriendly' time and this time around I didn't even bother to set an alarm so dropped quite a bit in the rankings overnight and will again over the last couple of days.
Anyways, quitting at the end of the season if nothing is done and won't be spending another penny.0 -
Yup, which is why I haven't bothered with the main for this PvE. After they switched over the PvE subs end time I basically stopped caring about placing and just played for iso and standard tokens.
I won't quit MPQ just yet cos PvP is still where I get most of my covers from and I can shield in PvP. But PvE...no, just no. I refuse to have my well-being and sleep dictated by a mobile game. Anymore.
And ++to not spending a dime any more on this game.0 -
The timezone constraints might go down when Magneto is nerfed. I have been charting the points I've been getting and I've noticed that while nobody can touch the guys who grinded every 2H 24M for the duration of the event, if there's any variation from the optimal path the time where you can't play is relatively unimportant compared to the number of cycles you missed. That is, missing a cycle in the very beginning is only slightly better than missing the very last cycle (this assumes you did all the nodes mutiple times during the second to last cycle). From a health pack point of view, I don't think it'd be possible to never miss a cycle without Magneto involved because sometime it's getting awfully close even with him.
Increasing refresh time/reduce number of stacks would make it easier to not miss any cycles though you'll have a lot of virtual ties this way since Magneto can come close to not missing any cycle already so any reduction on the frequency of cycles will make it much easier and that could be problematic too. Of course it can be a very long time until Magneto is finally nerfed, so the suffering is likely to continue for quite a while too.0
