Season IV - July 18 - Aug 17

The rankings in each bracket are based on: your combined score from completed PvP tournaments (Psylocke/Steve Rogers so far) and your current score in both still-running PvPs (currently Black Panther) and SHIELD Training.
Lightning Rounds and the occasional Elite tournaments do not count.0 -

For the moment they're running events with prizes people actually want, so yeah.
We'll see how much people care about their season scores once they eventually revert to running tournaments for characters like Rags and Loki.
There's also the problem of the disparity in reward structures. I'm glad that they've made it so that solo players can get all three covers now, but the covers and the ISO seem to have skewed the standings at the very top.
I didn't need any covers for Cap. I didn't need the blue BP cover. I don't need any covers for Sentry. But I got top 5 in PSY and Cap, and I'll try for top 5 in BP's pvp. Why? Because there's a 3000 ISO difference between 5th and 6th. If you don't need the cover, it's a 3500 difference. If I can get top 5 without a lot more work, especially on days where there are no LRs running, I'll likely try.
Top 10 versus top 25 isn't as severe. Still the same covers, just a 1k ISO, 50 HP difference.
Now, this is just one person's observation, so it certainly could be different with the ability to see the entire player populace, but in my brackets during season three after the reward change went in I saw a change in the makeup of standings.
Top 6 or so were much more fierce unless player 5 had a significant enough lead that 6 stopped trying. But generally 7 and lower were scoring less than they may have previously when it was top 10 or bust.
Now that the sharting has started to nudge a lot less gently, the last couple events have had the entire top 10 positions looking a lot more fierce.
If they have messed with the way we're bracketed again, I'm hoping they go back to how it was during season 3. Brackets were competitive, but not so clumpy.0 -
I'm gonna let you guys in on a little-known secret. Quire a lot of people who post here on these forums and others who don't but still place well in tournaments actually like this game *gasp*. When you complain that Beee or Ghast or whoever (I know you're not using actual names, but these fit the bill as well as many others) is taking up top spots in PvPs, I would ask, what is their alternative? They enjoy playing this game and let's face it, there's not all that much to do in the game. So, they sit down and play PvP for an hour or so, and whaddya know, they already hit 1000 points (I have no doubt it is pretty much that easy for them in most cases). Might as well play 4 or 5 more matches and hit 1100 and shield til the end. Gotta keep that alliance score up. I don't blame them (i.e. anyone "at the top") at all for playing the game the way they want and getting whatever rewards come to them.
The way I see it there are two ways to possibly change things. One is to rework the reward structure. That could mean offering other ways for people to get covers they really need, or splitting tournament offerings into ones with greater iso rewards (for the vets) and ones with greater cover rewards (for transitioning players). The other way is to provide vets with something else to do in the game that is worth their time. Shield Sim can be fun to try out different team combos and fight against different teams as well, but it's far from "end game" content. I know it's been said ad infinitum, but there needs to be something else for people to do in this game besides the endless stream of essentially the same PvP and PvE offerings week in and week out. If there were an endless mode (pick 3 chars and see how many battles you can win before getting wiped), or a much expanded story mode (new challenging boss battles, etc.), or an *actual* PvP queue where you could wait for your chance to play against a real live human being, some of these vets who want to go casual, might actually be able to, instead of "casually" top 5'ing every PvP cause there is just nothing else to do.0 -

I have to agree. I love playing this game. I am on day 213 and I keep going strong. For me with the seson 4 brackets I think it has been more of a shock with how strong of brackets I have been in. I went from no shield hopping and a 3 hour shield for top 10 to needing to do multiple shield hops to get into top 10-25. I would love to see a larger variety of game play from MPQ. I thiink Balance of Power was a fun 1 time event, but there could be more done. I don't want a true PVP beucase it puts such a strain on servers. I think PVE can go add a boss battle mode, or just go back to 24 hour subs. In PVP they can do more no holds bard, and balance of power, no mans land once a week to create something differnet.
I try and look at the game in this light. Ok something has changed in how I have to play to win. What is the change and how do I adapt. If I need to use a shield hop and can still only spend 150 HP with my alliance I can still come out ahead with HP. If I need to spend 300 HP then I know I have to do much better in PVE to earn the HP needed to shield hop. If I can't do either then I know I need to take a couple PVP off in order to gain some HP in order to compete. I love this game becuase I really like Marvel, I enjoy the competition, and I keep perspective that it is a game.0 -

At least it's not quite as insane as last season's bracket of doom, but since Flo is probably in there too there's no point in trying for t5.
So I'll just cruise to some Bagmen ten packs and enjoy not having to fight for Fury covers.
Flo? What Flo.....?0 -

Daveomite I see you in 4th...always kickin butt!
There seems to be a few in here..... but don't stress. I know you and know you can kick butt too! Keep in mind, a lot of people already have a bunch of sim points, so that can make their season totals deceiving. You got this!
I'm in there too! Made a big push last night just to see my name in the top 10, since I know it won't last Counting on you to take it home, Daveomite, don't fail me!0 -

Now goes by Flozier (and appears to have had a SIGNIFICANT upgrade)0 -

uummm..no. That's not him. I'm 100% positive Flo98 had bought covers for his Fury and leveled him up. And let's face it, Flo would have a much, much higher season score. Although the name Flozier does seem to be a stab at someone...
I did not see his roster under any of the 4 X-Men alliances at the top of the allinace of the Season IV alliance rankings. It is possible that he is under their 5th alliance, if they have that many.
Edit - deleted "pretty much"0 -
I got curious and posed the question to Psykopathic and WorldRunner - Flo is flozier0

And he's not in there, either.
Well, maybe RL caught up to him finally and he's taking a break. Or his HP ran out, lol.0 -

As already stated flo is now Flozier. In other news 'Worldrunner' is no longer and will soon be.... Well you'll see.
How did he level down his Fury?0 -
In my bracket, leader is over 4000 already. That seems insanely high for this early. Did I draw the fun bracket or am I just paranoid?0

haha...I will try not to fail you! Seriously...just playing the pvp's as they happen. Not trying to be this high right now.... and well, that just sounded wrong...0 -
I've noticed a new member of X-Men (forget which one exactly): flozier.
I can't promise not to attack them, but hot damn. I take off my hat!
Edit: I'm not the only one who noticed, but hope others found it as amusing!0 -

from what I understand, Flo98 bought kingsuckram's account/roster....renamed it to flozier... and since then, Flo's original account has been null.0 -

Well to be more specific, Kakko bought it for Flo. Too bad Flo can't move the nearly maxed fury over.0 -
