I'd leave it as late as possible, try to get as soft a bracket as you can and grind like you've never ground before!

And for those interested, with 23 hours and change remaining, the CAGvengers hold position 100 with 891,338 points.
  • I like that approach as I have a deep roster, but as I have no idea how my scaling will be when the nodes open that leaves me a little leery to bad cascades. That and you know the bracket may not be fresh. The benefit to joining now and hitting out some nodes and then doing some refreshes tomorrow is that the people joining now probably don't care or won't bother doing refreshes religiously. That and I have read the banding is significant so if I join now and play efficiently I may be able to pull unmatchable headway for most of the bracket.

    choices choices.

Well, as kind of a heads-up...I joined around 24 hours ago, and the bracket is currently at 367/1000. Depending on how many people join on the last day, it's unclear as to whether the bracket will even fill before the event ends.

Certainly possible you'd be sharded into a different bracket, though.
  • Hmm thanks. Judging by that I should probably join tonight and make some headway. Worse case is I still get that bracket anyways and just have that much more of a lead to pull back. Not like I care that much id I don't win any covers at this point anyways heh. I somehow doubt there's a ton of people waiting to join on the last day. There probably is but the risk of losing because I get in a bracket that is days old is lesser if I join now.

If you're prepared to hit all or even most of tomorrow's refreshes and hit the big finish hard it probably doesn't matter when you start. I moved up into the top 10 today with minimal effort from pretty far back just by hitting the high point nodes a few times. Scaling is putting a lot of people out of contention at this point. It's pretty easy to catch up if you've got the horses for it.
  • The classic never-ending-turn combo of Thor, Modern Storm and OBW in jungle environment works quite well in the Congo node, even with level 238 Muscle/Venom/Rags with their 14k health each. After collecting some ap, Venom was at 50% health and the other two were at full. They never got another turn again icon_e_biggrin.gif

That seems to be the everlasting bracket of sharding doom.
I just joined, did a full clear, and the bracket is at 393.

So glad the game accommodates having to take a few days off from PVE due to RL.
    Guess I won't be making T20 then.
  • Eh I don't care enough to join tonight so I am going to gamble. Too busy playing SWTOR and its almost sleep time. Who knows might get a new bracket although prolly not.
  • Well, just did the last clear and wrangled up to 45k points.

Any alliances wishing to break into teh top 100 by adding my score, you have until the 10 hr. left mark to PM me.

STs to HairyDave for spreading the word & the info on 100th place. Thumb for you!

I'd keep the total up to date but our mercenary Hulk pushed us much closer to 50 so I can't see it anymore icon_e_biggrin.gif

    I could kiss you icon_lol.gif

I had to sub Cap in because my both my Thors suck but that worked amazingly well. They all got a little dinged up taking out the Muscle but once the AP gravy train started to roll it was all over (even if it did take close to 15 minutes to chew through all that health).

Hey guys, will the nodes that opened yesterday close, or will they stay open until the end?

If it is like the previous run these nodes are until the end.

Thanks everyone for the tips with loki and mstorm. It's still chancy due to the tiles available, cascades and the ai's choice of abilities to use, but I really enjoy the challenge of tailoring teams to deal with each node. It's probably not the most practical, but I like to do a clean clear of all the nodes each time, then coming back later after the refresh.

A day at work had me drop from top 20 to 179, now I'm back to 32. We'll see how much I drop tomorrow after all the rubberbanders come in for the last hour. icon_e_smile.gif

Yeah, thanks for the tips y'all. For Venezuela Showdown, I found that taking max Cap/Hulk and 55 Loki really helps. As soon as Daken lays down a couple of strike tiles, Hulk's Anger generates enough greens to cascade, wiping the board of any strike and protect tiles. If there's still any, just use a Thunderous Clap. With this setup, Hulk also tanks black for Loki, in case things get out of hand and you need to use Trickery.

Hmm, I guess i'll try this setup. Congo is freaking bonkers! 18k health for lvl 300s! I'm usually out of health packs by the time I clear all the others nodes. Luckily, that puts me in 2nd place. Sure hope I get top 20.

That really helped me! I used Cap instead but it worked as well. Levels were near 260 but it still worked fine.
    Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! icon_e_biggrin.gif

Struggled my way up to 5th in my bracket with just under 56K - be interesting to see how far I fall while I'm asleep.

Fingers-crossed I can stay somewhere near the 50 mark.
  • Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow....

These nodes are becoming too problematic to straight tank, without busting out one of the semi-exploits.

Just barely escaped from one of the 230ish goon nodes, scratching my head over how I could possible do any more damage any faster legitimately.

That said, from this event, I have gained a newfound appreciation for Human Torch in a PvE role. LDaken covers Torch nicely on Green and Black, allowing for stupidly massive damage over time generation.

AFAIK, nothing screams crazy legitimate damage quite like [(Patch + Daken Strike Tiles) + Flame Jet] + [(Patch + Daken Strike Tiles) + match/cascade damage for turn] + [(Patch + Daken Strike Tiles) + Inferno] in a single combat round. Truly face-melting damage. Still, even that isn't enough when needing to figure out how to inflict 15,000+ damage to a single goon in only 3-4 rounds. Meh.
  • I be barely played for the last two months but have been back at it for Captain Marvel.

I just did 7 missions, each had at least 2 of 4 rewards available.... And I received 20 ISO each time. So frustrating and makes me want to put the game away for good.

AFAIK, the 50% chance of a "20 ISO" reward on a PvE node that has been cleared at least once already is still in effect.

I've long learned to stop caring about the node rewards in PvE (Except for Simulation 4 in The Simulator). People play PvE to earn the placement prizes in the long run. Any ISO prizes from nodes on the way there are simply a bonus. Thinking about the situation in any other matter is only going to drive a person insane.
  • I've never had problem doing enough damage when Daken and Falcon can both be used. Now if you can't use Daken... well... Captain America does pretty good damage in this event.
