Is it just me or is the hard sub pretty brutal this time? I'm having bad luck with the enemies getting the cascades from hell, but high level enemies (all over 100 on my second run through, I have a 2* roster) and overall the points in the sub I am in are super low (like 5k on the top guy dropping to 3k for 10th).

Seems kind of odd that an event with a reward mostly only 2* and lower players would be interested in (other than the collectors) would be harder than any of the other stuff recently?

I've wiped out on 4 of 5 fights on hard mode. I really don't wanna use my higher level characters but storm/thor/obw just aren't working for me right now. Getting real unenthusiastic with this event. icon_e_sad.gif
  • So... is it even worth playing this event? I played the two "Unlock the Subs" nodes, then was going to wait a day or something to start... but is it worth it at all?

Sentry progression reward is worth going for. After that? meh.
  • That's true... and it would be nice to get a couple Bagman Packs to see if I could get lucky enough to get a different 2* cover I don't need... been a while since I got a Bullseye. icon_razz.gif

Iso mountain is worth it too. That's like a placement's worth of ISO every sub

Starts off complaining about the amount of whining, proceeds to whine.

That's magic though, this is something similer but quite different. Also you go on to talk about 1* players transitioning to 2* players, that's nice on all butttt those players you are talking about still need to finish in the top 150 by themselves and the top 100 in their alliance. Sure some will but the majority won't. Also since this is a reward card so it's unavailable in any of those token packs, they can't get it then either. That's to say if they even bother getting those token packs and then if they do are lucky enough to get that cover, and then are lucky enough to get repeated covers of it. Eventually it will be a lower event prize, but god knows when that'll be. As it goes it's a pretty **** reward, if as you say D3 cares so much about these other players then they would have made it a lower reward and also had a new 3* cover reward aswell, how much more better would that be? They are still catering to the lower rung players by going "here you go guys here's a new 2* for you to get, and it's within a decent range for you to get it" While still catering to the more competive bunch as well by going "Here you guys go a brand new different 3* for ya's" It's a total win win and something completely in their range to do. Hell as you said some people may like the human torch though and so they can relax and chill for a bit because they want the lower prize because it's their fav character. Either way a set up like that is massively better. Instead the are giving out a **** prize that not many of the players you say it's aimed for will get and what a lot of the competitive players don't need.

That's why people are making decent complaints about this. Because it's a really dumb set up.

I don't see any whining and I'm not sure how long you've been playing the game, but the last thing most of us want in this game is another 3* to build.

Really? because most of the other comments here seem to disagree. Since nobody wants a useless 2*. People would much rather a useful 3*, Hell it doesn't even need to be a new 3* I was simply making that a suggestion. Here's an idea maybe just maybe they could have made the top prizes the 3* Human Torch and the lower prizes the new 2* human torch. If people really want the 2* then they can easily get it and for the people that want a usefull human torch they will go for the 3*. There problem solved. Also I have been playing for quite awhile and I can honestly say that I would prefer a new 3* over this new 2*. Now in saying that If the 2* had been a completely new cover character and new powers I would much prefer that and would not have any complaints. But all they have done is brought out a weaker cover of a cover already out, they took a backwards step in this rather than a forward. Which is lazy. So I don't know how long YOU have been playing but most people I know who play the game and most people on this forum would have rathered a new 3* over this weak 2*, or like I said at least it could have been a new character 2* which would have been most preferred over everything.
  • SOOOOO...

To bring this conversation back to the event itself, rather than the new cover that happens to be the reward for the event...

I REALLY like that the Normal and Hard subs are featuring different fights. That definitely helps break some of the monotony of grinding PVE. I hope this carries through to future Sims as well!

I'm amazed at the amount of whining going on about the rewards and 2* Torch in general.

I used to play a good amount of Magic. Every time a new set would start getting previewed the forums would get filled up with people whining about how terrible a new preview card was, and how it was the worst thing ever, etc.

Dunno what you read. On MtgSalvation forums most comments I read were quite the opposite. And the few MEH comments easily ignored -- or in rare cases well justified.

WotC (the company that designs and produces MtG) would often say that not every card designed was designed for every audience. In fact far from it. The ultra competitive types who frequent those (and these) forums were a small piece of the general audience and while they designed cards specifically for those audiences, they had to design something for all of their subsections.

Err, do you actually assert that compare to MtG makes any sense at all? Where we have what, twenty thousand cards? 300ish in a set, 600ish in a block and multi-thousand pool for tournaments? Where a set MUST have a deal of weak cards if just for sake of sealed/draft?

Is that a good compare to MPQ where we have very few characters to start with and 3 goes in a team?
    j12601 wrote:
... The same thing has to happen here.

The hell. If you mean it, explain WHY exactly, when we don't have quite anything from MtG.
    j12601 wrote:
We may look at 2* Johnny and go "Ugh, such lazy design, why would we want such garbage?". But to a 1* to 2* transitioning player who might have a single 3* Torch cover, but can't really play with it, this is great.

A */** player will not count with *** versions. He will look how to create a */** team. So compare with the other characters in the potential pool. And will be happy to have Candle if he fits well in a team with that pool, be good on offense and defense. Now this is the point he will say ****, "I hoped for different color set, more health and better synergy". And "Yeah, he beats bullseye or bagman and some other folks I never considered for play, but just joins that club still".

And it still beats me why new ** is created before the existing ones brought up to shape -- and even after that why not one that fills some gap. icon_e_sad.gif

People stop complaining. This is one event you can take it easy on if you're in 3* land and just play for fun and possibly for Sentry, if you need him.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, and finally we have DIFFERENT stuff in normal and hard sub, less repetitions. Taking it really as experimenting on the opponent variety and try out your less used characters for the fun of it is a good idea.

We can actually enjoy the **** PVE rewards like with last IM40 case.

Though that does not invalidate fury of the other sub-thread on why the opportunity to improve the game through good characters is wasted.
  • The more I think about it, this gives me a chance to focus on leveling up my 3*s, and means I can take this one and probably the next PVE (since it shouldn't be a new character) relatively easy. I won't take Lazy Torch above level 20 for the foreseeable future, but I've still got a lot of 3* covers I got lately, and a lot of leveling to do (She-Hulk to 114, Sentry, Human Torch, and Lazy Daken to 127, and Falcon and GSBW to 135) before I start back on my varsity team.
  • Is it me or this pve have very high lvl opponents? Hard mode has lvl 100 at minimum and lvl 150 on some... Is this the case for everyone or my scaling went too high last event?? (Which I didn't grind much...)

All the nodes with high level Sentry, Juggs, Laken and LThor. I have just the one black Laken and he heats himself to death every second fight. My poor babies can't take that much of a pounding and fight pvp too. Not sure how I'm going to manage this time.

I observed similar -- starting levels at least 50 above expected from last events. I hope it will come with lessened scaling up in compensation.
  • 150 Sentry, Daken and Psylocke...... just can't do it. Tried so many times now to do this was various teams and nothing seems to be working. How the hell are people doing this. I keep dying and it's increased in levels since i first started.

    You have Magneto? icon_rolleyes.gif
  • Not a levelled one no, only lvl 89 and missing covers

EDIT - Well it seems that the lvl 89 CMag was enough so thanks for the suggestion. Set off Punishers green then CMag just basically finished the rest on his own.

I always just assumed i would need to have CMag at a reasonable lvl for him to be usable but as long as you get the strike tiles out there he works just fine. His powers aren't as cheap as they could be but if you collect a few up at the beginning it's fine.
