I especially like how the Simulator token packs have a "boosted" draw rate for 2** Ares, Cap, Moonstone, and Bullseye.

Not withstanding rounding errors, those 4 alone comprise 48% of a draw's outcome on an event token (let alone the probability for other 2** outcomes ocurring), and **do not** improve with a 10 or 42 pack (although rates on LDaken, Torch, and Sentry slightly improve).

Who told the devs that what the community REALLY thought was fun on token draws were the days when nearly every event draw was either Cap or A-Wolv?
They aren't selling enough packs, so they made the percentages worse. Unparalleled business acumen

I'm hoping this character is featured in PvP soon hyper buffed. And it starts a trend of two star characters being featured. As it is, once you hit the three star world all of your two stars are useless. Players should be encouraged to play with every character and this seems like a good chance to make that happen. Maybe a 2/3 buff instead of 1/2. Level 156 ares would be a ****.
I don't see this trend ever happening. Clearly, they get very little revenue from 2* characters so devoting lots of dev time to it will only hurt their bottom line.
  • What a complete freaking waste of a new card. This is a complete joke. How on earth did this ever get past the planning stage? Seriously are a bunch of brain dead monkeys working there at D3? Because you do realize this is by far the worst reward ever given out right? "Hey guys I know what will make an awesome prize for the next event, a 2* human torch, who has the exact same powers as the 3* but is obviously way weaker" -.-

That is not a prize that is you guys over at D3 giving your customers the finger because you are to lazy to even try to come up with new ideas. Here's an idea instead of making covers for characters you already have in the game, make some new god damn covers for characters we don't have in the game yet. Also if you are struggling that hard for some ideas for some 2* covers, marvel has a whole freaking slew of B and C grade characters you can choose from, hell if we can have a bagman spiderman we can handle The Shocker or Sif or Cloak. You have such a massive massive range of characters to choose from why oh please tell us why do you keep making freaking duplicates of those characters.

If you are trying to make people not play this game you are going down the right path.
  • But tell us how you really feel.
  • Yawn-y Storm.

It was super annoying how many essentials needed 2*s in iso brotherhood, especially when it locked out their 3* lazy versions

Johnny Shortbus... that totally cracks me up... er... I mean, you should be ashamed of yourself for such a juvenile, demeaning name... but, man that's funny!

I think he still qualifies as lazy torch. But hmm.

Actually laughed when I saw the covers... Probably not a good thing.

But, a lazy character is when a lower rarity cover is directly copied to a higher rarity level.

What do we call a character that is directly copied and downgraded to a lower rarity level?

I propose this new subspecies of lazy character be dubbed 'hobbled characters'.

I'm amazed at the amount of whining going on about the rewards and 2* Torch in general.

I used to play a good amount of Magic. Every time a new set would start getting previewed the forums would get filled up with people whining about how terrible a new preview card was, and how it was the worst thing ever, etc. WotC (the company that designs and produces MtG) would often say that not every card designed was designed for every audience. In fact far from it. The ultra competitive types who frequent those (and these) forums were a small piece of the general audience and while they designed cards specifically for those audiences, they had to design something for all of their subsections. They have to make new cards for the kitchen table players who will never play in a sanctioned tournament, cards for the players who like to make weird themed decks, for the players who like to take less desirable and weird cards and see if they can make something cool happen with them.

The same thing has to happen here. It's why there are 2* rewards as progression rewards, it's why there are 2* rewards below the upper tier rewards that most of the people on the forum probably get.

We may look at 2* Johnny and go "Ugh, such lazy design, why would we want such garbage?". But to a 1* to 2* transitioning player who might have a single 3* Torch cover, but can't really play with it, this is great. This is an approachable character to get, lets you get used to playing with his abilities in case you do ever transition up to 3* territory. There are probably 2* players who have wanted to play with Torch but couldn't because of how tough he is to get. Even on the forums I read a few people say they were going to level up She-Hulk in spite of her maybe not being the strongest solely because she's a favorite character and they want to play with her. D3 has said 2* Cap was one of the most popular 2* characters. Not necessarily because he was good, but because people liked him. Those people might want 2* Torch. I think that's pretty cool.

So this tournament and this new character isn't for you. Big deal. The last uhm.... all of them since I've been playing, pretty much have been for you. I've been playing a little over 120 days now, and have 4 maxed 3* characters, the ability and covers to max a 5th, and I'm quite pleased with this event. I'm not the target audience which means I can take it easy, do enough to get the rewards I'm interested in (42k sentry), and have fun playing. Simulator is usually one of my favorite PVEs because of the diversity of opponent teams and the odd buffed characters which allow you to experiment with teams different form the usual min-max optimal teams. Being able to do that without the pressure of having to play optimally is a nice change.

Edit - added a bit more.
  • Torchling rewards.... wack. Why do simulator when you can do seasonal simulator instead?

Except when they introduced ares (and patch for that mater), they had him as rewards for the subs, so you could easily have him fully covered in the single event. Whereas this time you have to do top 5 overall for the 2nd 3rd cover.
  • People stop complaining. This is one event you can take it easy on if you're in 3* land and just play for fun and possibly for Sentry, if you need him.
  • Not sure if it's been said, but Flo98 is going to love this pve. icon_e_wink.gif
  • Instead of bringing that weak **** torch they should have made a 2* juggernaut, now that would have been interesting

Starts off complaining about the amount of whining, proceeds to whine.

That's magic though, this is something similer but quite different. Also you go on to talk about 1* players transitioning to 2* players, that's nice on all butttt those players you are talking about still need to finish in the top 150 by themselves and the top 100 in their alliance. Sure some will but the majority won't. Also since this is a reward card so it's unavailable in any of those token packs, they can't get it then either. That's to say if they even bother getting those token packs and then if they do are lucky enough to get that cover, and then are lucky enough to get repeated covers of it. Eventually it will be a lower event prize, but god knows when that'll be. As it goes it's a pretty **** reward, if as you say D3 cares so much about these other players then they would have made it a lower reward and also had a new 3* cover reward aswell, how much more better would that be? They are still catering to the lower rung players by going "here you go guys here's a new 2* for you to get, and it's within a decent range for you to get it" While still catering to the more competive bunch as well by going "Here you guys go a brand new different 3* for ya's" It's a total win win and something completely in their range to do. Hell as you said some people may like the human torch though and so they can relax and chill for a bit because they want the lower prize because it's their fav character. Either way a set up like that is massively better. Instead the are giving out a **** prize that not many of the players you say it's aimed for will get and what a lot of the competitive players don't need.

That's why people are making decent complaints about this. Because it's a really dumb set up.

Posted this as a bug but wondering if anybody else is seeing this as well. I did the 2 nodes in the main to open up the subs and when I went into the subs it was showing 23 mins until the nodes were at full points. I haven't even played them yet, how are they not already at full???

I don't see any whining and I'm not sure how long you've been playing the game, but the last thing most of us want in this game is another 3* to build.

    i do not understand this.

can anyone venture any reason why we would want to play this event.

    im literally dumbfounded.

ill join each sub late and do next to nothing effort wise. and if i dont get this character...

i dont give a kitty. maybe this is OUR independence day gift from the Devs...they are freeing us from caring about this idiotic run on tbe sim.

I think they mentioned (IceIX ??) that they were considering the idea of tournaments with restricted * level for the teams. If this ever happens then suddenly the good 2* will have a place in our teams, although these tournaments would have to be very common and not once in 2-3 months. Until then, I suspect most will just ignore 2* rewards.

I'll do the same and join after 2-3 days have passed and go for that Sentry cover. My Sentry is still without yellow thanks to the reward structure in the events that had him as reward, but with this cover he will be 4/4/0. Still not worth leveling without that yellow though.
  • The 2* roster probably needs a guy who can actually do decent damage that isn't on the Storm class HP, though they could've just fixed Hawkeye too or raised Storm's HP.
