    IceIX,

Given that BW and SM heal are now, stop gap measures, can I ask what the point of temporary healing really is and whether you intend to redo the whole skill (also indirectly blue stealing via espionage)?

Just having a game of her now and she's half dead, may or may not end up close to healed but will then be half dead again. Why bother collecting blue.

    Honestly, what's the point.

    Thanks.

ps. Just playing some simulator, got all my decent 2*s wiped out in 2 matches. Got no one else to take on the appearing 80 - 100+ characters I am seeing but I would like to play more now. What do you suggest I do?

I feel like this is a damn awful propaganda article to basically to put lipstick on a pig.
This only actually affects three characters: Modern She-Hulk, Classic Spider-Man, and Original Black Widow.
no, it affects all characters cause now there is no way to heal battle damage unless you are either patch or daken. once you are down to near nothing you have to use health packs.
in the few days following the change, Black Widow teams have become far less common.
maybe cause OBW was locked out.
Similarly, there's another incentive to keep a large stock of healthy characters: without a way to heal your heroes, you'll need fresh cannon fodder to keep your play session going once your favorites go down.
that would be nice if you had 30 playable characters fully covered characters, but if you have 1*/2* roster where you have 5 to choose from, you are sh!t out of luck "go buy health packs".
"True Healing" simply makes wait times shorter.
yeah instead of doing one prologue heal run you get to wait 2.5 hours for health packs to regenerate or 4/5 hours for you character to.

    Why true healing is excellent?

When your characters are damaged, you can still freely heal them as much as you want. You just need 2-3 Medkits after every round.

If for some unknown or made-up reason you don't want to use your free Medkits, you can just look at your 30+ character fully leveled roster and choose new heroes to fight.

Again, if you refuse this logical step too, then after 2 rounds you can go and do something useful instead of wasting your time playing games on your computer.

If you feel that 2 rounds/day is not enough, you can log in any time, from anywhere during the day! I'm sure your colleagues at work or your teachers at school won't mind. Remember, in this fantastic upgrade, you characters heal MUCH faster! Now Ares needs only 2 hours to heal up, instead of 4! That 2 hours is nothing, it flies away in minutes! (well, in 120 minutes)

And for those who don't understand sarcasm:
The true healing is excellent (for the devs) for these reasons:
    - you are forced to buy Medkits to be able play more than 2 rounds
    - you are forced to keep a large team to be able to play more than 2 rounds
    - you need to buy more roster slots/Iso-8 to support the above strategy
    - people use their servers less, significantly lower the load on them
    - it doesn't cost them anything, they won't even give proper respec/refund for the destroyed characters (noone would have leveled an OBW with temporary healing)

    Win-win!

This game is like SWG, it was a great game, then the greediness of the developers killed it. IceX is like the Iraq Communication minister, he knows he is bulls****ing everyone, but he has to (hopefully that's the case, because if he is believing the **** coming out of his mount, the he is also hopeless).

How does this healing affect me?

I have a 30+ roster, but only five 2** characters at 85. Above that a couple of 3*** at various stages, only 1 above 85 (a 89 Patch). My usual routine was to log in after work, play some (from 5 minutes to grab the daily gift to 2 hours to participate in events). I had means to reach top50 in events if I had the time to play, so I could go for 3*** covers (it didn't always work, because I'm from EU, but I had fairly good success rate).

Now I log in, play 2-3 rounds, use up all my Medkits, maybe try a different team (another 1-2 rounds since I don't have any more Medkits). A round is around 3-5 minutes, so I can play a whopping 15 minutes before I'm forced to stop or buy Medkits. Since I refuse to pay any more for this greedy bunch, I have to stop playing after 15 minutes.

In that 15 minutes I can probably get like 100 points in a PvP event, but if I do that i can't participate in any PvE.

Let's say I played 5 PvP Rounds and I was extra lucky and got 700 Iso-8 for it. So now my character progression slowed down to a crawl, because I can't get enough Iso to level them up. If you checked the new planned changes, they will raise the character level cap. So in their bottomless greed now they give you more reason to buy Iso-8, because they know exactly that you won't be able to collect enough on your own.

But back to me. So the bottom line is:
    - my playing time is severely reduced (by the developers)
    - my character progression stopped. Basically there is no reason for me to play anymore.
    - I'm automatically locked out from events (except if I'm forced to use my lower level characters, because my main ones are locked out)
    - my gaming schedule is being dictated by the developers
    - my frustration is all time high

    How it should be:
    - I should be play as much as I want
    - I should be able to play in every event
    - It should be fun to play. Now when an enemy Ares collects any of his colors, I see the healing timer increasing an hour or 2. Or any better cascades from the enemy means automatic Medkit use at the end of the match. It was annoying before too, but I could combat it by taking risk and stretching out the match til I can heal my team up a bit, but now it is a gamestopper event, which comes randomly, I can't do _anything_ about it.

Postmortem on first PVP event post True Healing change.

I finished with about 100 more points than what I average and won more HP than I spent.

Yes it was more of a grind than usual, but I'm sure it was for mostly everyone. I just stated earlier and played a bit more often. It was actually more fun than how I'd play before.

Playing the game beats reading the thread in amusement value at least.

Played for a few hours today. Noticed the change. Not really figuring what has changed that "forces" you to buy healthpacks to be competitice. I bought none and took top 5 exactly as before.Seems like a huge lot of "the sky is falling" in comparison to what actually changed gameplaywise to me.
    Newsflash:
Player, responds to only the most extreme irrational posts. tells everyone how much cooler it is to play game than post in forum --and then posts forum! Has surpassed the OBW stage of gameplay, possibly has a good mmr, never bothered with prologue healing, never bought health packs, and /or is in cackwalk brackets, sees no problem! Come back at 11 to hear them tell everyone how ridiculous they are for not being them.

Good for you man. I'm glad things are working out well for you. Its important to have fun when you can. I hope someday when i grow up i can get top 5 like you. Your tale has inspired me to do better! icon_e_biggrin.gif

That is one (or rather two) ways to interpret my post, so thanks for listening I guess. The point I was making was that gameplaywise I do not feel I needed to pay for healthpacks at all to be viable, despite taking on teams of my own strength for a few hours, which people in this thread seems to make out as being impossible. It might be far more of a problem for those with less width in their roster, this is a fair point. I just found the current PvE playable with my 2* and PvP playable with my 3* with one or two subs every little while.
  • Hey all, I'm yet another longtime forum lurker who registered just to post their experiences with the healing changes. I'm concerned the proposed changes to character levels might shift the discussion away from these healing changes, and hugelion that! I want healing addressed... I want to play the game again!

So. I sent an email to D3. It was polite but said nothing you all haven't heard over the past 54 pages. This was the response:

Thank you for contacting D3P customer support.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience that this issue has caused you. We are thankful for the feedback you have submitted regarding Temporary Healing.

We take our customer's feedback very seriously and we will certainly discuss it with the rest of the team and take it into consideration for the next updates.

I have personally added your feedback to our pool. Thank you for your time.

    Best Regards,
    D3P Customer Support Team.

Form letter? Yes. But it's a nice, shiny one with the promise of taking "customer's feedback very seriously". Maybe you'd like one just like it in your inbox? http://www.d3p.us/Support.asp
  • I've been a comic book collector for almost two decades. Through my PC with Bejeweled and its successors and then through my smart phone I've been into various gem matching games like bewjeweled and then the next generation of games that combined gem matching with other things (puzzle quest being one of my favorites). When Marvel Puzzle Quest came out... I was hook.... I've spent more time in this game than any other game on my phone. I barely PLAY other games on my phone these days. When I have a free moment and the battery life to support a session I'm usually in MPQ. I've also spent more cash on this game than I ever planned on spending.

Thanks to this healing change I'll be spending much less time and money on this game.

How can you say you've created a feature that among other things is to encourage cover diversity yet one of the things you DON'T do that would help cover diversity would be to make the coin based cover redemptions adjust themselves to the characters you are actually using currently? I'm not going to try to use my Iron Man if the current PVP or whatever event I'm using won't give me drops to help me build up that character. I've got to go with my built up teams.

I've dealt with the other changes switching my teams as you've buffed and debuffed various characters once I had the covers to make another character viable, but this latest changes pretty much guarantees that I'll spend less time in MPQ.

Thanks for breaking my addiction D3. I didn't ask you to. I didn't ask you to take less of my time and money, but apparently you want to. Fine with me.
  • This is the worst change ever and it seems like this company is only interested in making things worse. What is the point of taking away the healing and making people have to wait in between fight that was an absolutely pointless change and I hate it. Way to give the computer another stupid advantage. As if this is Game didn't suck enough money for everything else now we have to start buying health Packs are you kidding. This game is about to get deleted from my life after all the money I've spent I don't understand why things just have to keep getting changed for the worse. This is absolute **** icon_redface.gificon_evil.gificon_mad.gif I guess P3 doesn't take into account what your customers like or want. You know it's funny every time they make a change they say it because it something people have requested but I cannot imagine people have requested that the healing goes away.
  • I can understand the reasoning of wanting multiple teams to play with and all other explanations they chose/chose not to give.

I have only been playing for about 2.5 months and really liked the game. It was a game I could actually spend a few hours on (prologue healing or not, i don't give a ****, just want to enjoy playing)
With this change, the game has turned into yet another 13 in a dozen 'get in, do ur daily chores and get out' kinda game.
It still is a good game and i won't stop playing but for me the excitement is over.
I hope they have the common sense to come back on this poor decision. (hope is eternal, after all)

    A very disappointed player

I'm more disappointed by the **** **** Heroic PVEs they've been dumping on us than I am bout True Healing. Maybe this was their way of distracting us from the fact that PVE is getting worse and not better.
  • Heroic to get She-Hulk was 2 days :

Opening the Event : Cool ! A 2 days PvE that won't be boring and we'll get She-Hulk faster ! They innovate !

Closing the Event : I'm completely stressed out after a sleepless night grinding like crazy to remain Top 10. Tons of boosts used, Health Packs...

And thank God I did. She-Hulk is buffed at lvl 231 for this PvE. If you don't have her, how do you clear the nodes with bagman and yelena ? icon_e_smile.gif
  • True healing is fun.

We want you to use a broader roster.

Oh look we limit the cover you can use in PVE.

No, no we swear we are not doing this to force you to buy health pack.

Please take the time to 1 star this game on the markets. I don't see any other way then to hit the dev where it might hurt for them to consider changing the game.

i wouldn't mind seeing featured character/ OBW/ thor, ares or wol, on every team if i could play longer than 5 matchs. actually getting hit and losing 80 points in pvp is so disheartening cause now i have to use this session just to get the points i lost without making progression further in pvp. thx again for "true healing"

It was actually about the same amount of grind as usual. Since I haven't started the pve yet, I didn't even run out of medpacks!

Really, it's probably fine of pvp, since you can largely play it on your own schedule, and then use shields if necessary. The real health crunch is for PvE, which you have to tightly schedule, where if you run out you're either going to have to leave points on the table, or throw off the rest of your schedule for refreshes. Also, because of shields the "final hour" of pvp can be anywhere in the last 3/8/24 hours, fitting into your schedule, and you can shield hop to delay it if you need more healthpacks, whereas if you run out of them in the last hour of a pve, you're pretty small felined

Did anyone besides me notice that true healing characters will heal through temp heals? You might have with the new pve. You can AGD Wolvie and then match yellow to heal if his actual health is below half. Now apply that knowledge to Ares, Daken, and Patch.

Yeah, it'll even heal through the temp heal when at full health. I have a 2* wolvie below half health, used AGD to heal him up to full, matched yellow and he true healed anyway. Glad to see it atleast works like that.

To every single one of you ranting, just shut it.
    ...
I get the WHY of what has been done (top of the list is smoothing out the utilization curves and laying the groundwork for future monetization schemes), but the HOW is a serious issue.

Very unfair and rude to talk to the ranters like that when pretty much everyone in this thread (including you it would seem) is in agreement on the same issue. In fact to use your own example, you are behaving like the cranky old man.

So many people are so passionate about this game and so upset/angry by the change that ranting is thenatural course of action, it makes you feel better to vent your anger sometimes, maybe you should try it.

And I wouldnt waste your sympathy on IceIX, save it for the screwed over players that you feel should just shut up.

In retrospect, I see that I was harsh, and for the record I duly apologize to anyone I may have offended. Thanks for calling me out.

I think what I was trying to get across, unsuccessfully it seems, is that emotional pleas do nothing to sway business decisions. Rants are easily dismissed. In other words, you're not going to get the cranky old man to let you back in his store by shouting in his face, calling names, assembling a mob, or any other emotion based tactic. That typically will only reinforce his opinion that his initial decision was sound.
What has a better chance of working to change his mind is positivity. Constructive criticisms are one example. If you choose to see this as a negotiation rather than a decision to be reversed, you open up a world of possibilities that didn't exist in the binary state.

I hope that clears things up a bit, and if not, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Thank you for the apology, it's very decent of you to come back and say that.

I do agree with you that ranting and angry, emotional outbursts dont usually have any effect. however when there are so many of these posts it would be a very short-sighted company that ignored them. unfortunately they have shown themselves to be that company time and time again.
And the trouble with trying to change their mind through positivity is that there is nothing to be positive about concerning this change. I wish that what you say was true, but I dont think that any amount of constructive criticism (of which there is a lot in this thread) will sway them any more than than angry outbursts will.

This change is here to stay and we all have a choice to make. pay to play or, well, dont. I am not paying to play any more, i will see how it goes as to whether or not i continue to play at all.

yeah when i want to play i choose to and not on a health pack/ character regeneration schedule, i know i will never put another penny into this game and just play when i can, instead of when i want.
  • I would say this change feels overly aggressive. It's understandable to want to prevent the abuse of healing abilities (which I'm guilty of myself). But why not just prevent teams from ending a match with more health than they started with? No more healing up in PVE, but at the same time if I start a match at full health and manage to end it that way also, I'm not penalized. Seems much more balanced that way, and much less drastic a change to adjust to.
