I'd like to thank the developers for this change as now I can spend more of my time on more constructive activities. Or on Dark Souls. Either works. I was playing this game more than I would have liked.0

One of them continuously, brutally punishes you as you play it
The other, of course, involves dying to invasions hundreds of times0 -
Alright D3... you got us... I enjoy a joke as much as the next man. It was very funny, and I appreciate and recognize the balls y'all must have to MASS PRANK all your players/consumers in the name of comedy. I mean, at first, I was SOOOOOO baffled as to why a company would choose to wreck their entire operation and send their players and profits down the drain. I mean, there was NO WAY y'all couldn't have recognized immediate backlash a slap-in-the-face like this would inevitably lead to..
1. You all are in the gaming business, you know how players are, they're probably a lot like you all. People, for the most part, set aside time in their scheduled day to commit to gaming. Who really plays for 30m, walks away, then in a couple of hours repeat that process.
2. And, just like you all, they enjoy the freedom to make up their own minds, to develop their own style of play, to find characters, teams, usage of skills, etc... that WORKS FOR THEM.
and 3. Again, as I assume that all good game developers probably are gamers at heart, they understand that the reason their F2P game is enjoyable, the reason they have people WILLING to commit hours and hours of their lives devoted to playing that F2P game is that, if you put in the time, and it's not unreasonable... they WILL BE ABLE TO COMPETE w/ those users who simply buy their way to success.
Honestly, would you all enjoy playing a game where literally, because of the mechanics of the game, you have NO CHANCE of long term success as your ability to learn, to lvl up, to figure out ways to handle those MONSTERS w/ too much money, because they simply are not able to put in the time, in the long run, to keep up w/ the whales. Having such a small window in which to gain the ISO, to compete for rewards, to play around w/ team compositions just will NEVER equal up. The 'snowball effect' of falling behind will simply grow and grow and grow as those in the position to win, due to having the money to stay in the game longer, will win more and more rewards, gain much more ISO faster and simply 'brute force' beat down anyone who can't pay their way.
So... knowing that you all must have known all of this... cause y'all are gamers, you're in the gaming business, you surely know what keeps people coming back is having some freedom to play as they want to play, when they choose to play, and to have the potential to succeed in their endeavors.
Thus, the obvious and ONLY reason, this would have been done, was you're simply having fun, playing a joke on your loyal fanbase. And again, to have the courage to sink your product in the name of comedy... on such a grand scale... kudos. Very funny.
So... can we all just admit it was a joke, and go ahead and put the product we love and enjoy back out their for your dedicated fans to once more consume, and just forge ahead in the name of proper, fun, addicted gaming? I don't know what your scheduled date of revealing this prank was... but... I think it's been long enough. I fear a lot of people may not have picked up on you all's sense of humor and before long will disappear... never knowing it was just a clever ruse, at our expense, to get a couple of laughs.
So... I know I, and many others, are ready to go ahead and get back in the fray... let's do it together.
Much love, - B0 -
So everyone who is unhappy with this change, remember to go to your relevant app store and rate (or re-rate) the game appropriately! And take a look at the other reviews and up-vote the ones you agree with!0

After sleeping on this a few nights, I have to say that I'm glad for the change. I was bored with the grind and now the playing field is leveled.
I do think you should change damage to affect 'untrue' healed health before actually knocking off real health. As others have mentioned, it makes it sort of a shield and rewards skilled play by not making healing a priority power.0 -
Like many others here, I play this game ALL the time and really think it's one of the most addictive and at times, most rewarding ones out there. Well, this all changed with the "true" healing update. I've been playing this game regularly throughout the day for nearly 150 days straight and have made purchases but interestingly - not until today - ever created a forum account. Well guess what, I came here solely to voice my frustration. So, why can't I grind through events so that I can play more? Who exactly is that activity boring for? Every game I have ever played where I can develop my characters, I grind. I grind because I enjoy it. I enjoy building a hero/villain from nothing and now you have effectively crippled that. And you know how this is going to change peoples' behavior and which characters they use... people will play less, pay less, and still use the same characters. They use them because those are the characters they are effective with. What a clear attempt at gouging your customer base. It's disappointing when you invest time AND money in something only to leave feeling ripped off. Thanks.0

In regards to the true heal maybe the developers would like to do some true work and finally fix the Sunder bug. Players losing that extra health on top of normal battle damage is stupid ridiculous. This bug basically cripples the character up front and now someone you have around 80% health before and very usable for another fight is way too battle scarred to carry on causing players to swap out to a lesser combatant. This in turn opens you up to more attacks now that other players see a weaker defensive team. You can see this as a straight money grab by these lazy developers.
The goal of this seems to be:
Sell more health packs
Keep scores lower so that they don't have to give away as many rewards
Force people to buy Hero Points for shields as you need to shield more often
-which equals more money to the developer.
Heres a tip developers: If you have no customers because your product sucks or your customer service sucks then you cannot make money.0 -
If this is permanent.. And it's a horrible one, reduce the pack refresh time to 10 minutes.. Because that's how long it takes to burn through all 50
-
And bump up the pack limit0
-
Ok, it is enough for me. I gave this change a chance. Right now, I had time to play.
First, when starting the game: -150 points in widow pvp, while I was under 600... Never happened this low before.
First fight, ok, very little health lost. Second fight, punisher almost dead, one health pack. Third game: COTS, Molotov.I win, but 3 health packs. fourth: unlucky cascade once more. Last pack gone.
So I am here, only 30 minutes later, with time to play, without character to play. Still not at 600 points, already out of top 50. In 2h, when I will be allowed to do more than 2 games in a row, it will be 1am here in Europe. I will be sleeping.
Needless to say that I did not started pve, nor daredevil PvP.
D3/demiurge: what I am supposed to do? How is your game supposed to be played now? I am not complaining, only explaining my style of play. I really gave this new heal a chance, but it does not work for me.
I did not even notice opponent variety, because at my low 3* level (opponents between 115 and 141), there were diversification since a long time. I play with 141 punisher and 102 lthor because I have nothing else at this level. Should be the same for my opponents.
So I asked Google to refund my recent purchase (you know, the sales right before announcing this), which they did. They are far more competent that your CS.
It is your right to change the game for an issue I did not care about.
It is my right to get my money back, as I would have never paid for the game I now have.
Good bye. No waybmy alliance mates makes me stay this time, as I can't play anymore as I want.
App uninstalled as soon as I will be able to thank my alliance0 -
What is killing me is... they want to break peoples addiction to OBW and have more 'diversity' in team selection. But, the only way I've found to survive, and not feel my time was wasted, and to try and keep up w/ my normal level of productivity, IS TO HAVE OBW IN EVERY SINGLE BATTLE.
From move 1 my first goal in every fight is queuing up OBW's heal, so that 'boost' health is getting attacked over actual HP's... it's the only way i've found to not fall into the inevitable slide to hours of downtime while trying to preserve the Health Packs for the serious issues.
Instead of having 2-3 mixed characters i can 'diversify' with... I am required by the change in mechanics to absolutely depend on her in actual PVP/PVE to not get screwed. In the past, she was there to help out after battles mostly, and sometimes thrown in the fight... but now, that option of NOT including her when building my squad... GONE.
So... let us celebrate diversity... CHEERS.0 -
pz_n_qz wrote:I've also signed up to the forums after almost 100 days of continual play to air my ... displeasure? disappointment? frustration? (I'm not entirely sure what I'm feeling at this point) about this change.
With the change actually in effect now, I'm finding the PVP event (Hollowpoint Kiss) more engaging with the different character combos (rather than the usual OBW/**Thor or OBW/Ares combo) to use and compete against. So the change is working on that front. I'm actually enjoying using **Cap and **Magneto combo or **Thor and Moonstone (!I know!) combo with MBW among others. That said, realizing that one using a **Storm/**Mags combo is going to be crushed if that's your last out (buy shields!!!) is equally unpleasant.
The frustrating element for me, though, is that being able to heal makes continuous gameplay nigh impossible. I appreciate the accelerated healing time, but it's not enough to make it fun, it makes for, as repeated often on this thread, about 20 minutes of gametime, every 3-4 hours. Blitz/wait/Blitz/wait/Blitz/wait is far more frustrating that filing through an endless slog of OBW/Thor or OBW/Ares combos.
I would say perhaps to help ease the pain, an increase in standard # of health packs (10) and/or a reduced restock time for health packs (15 minutes) would make this change far more palatable.
I enjoyed splitting time between the PVP and PVE events but without a healer the ability to engage in both and to be well-ranked without the cash drop is going to be far more difficult.
I'd like to believe this isn't a straight cash grab, as it's not a very bright one if so. I've certainly never dropped $ on a health pack and I won't start now. I've only ever dropped $ to get coins to buy more cover slots. I could also see maybe dropping $ on certain character covers if they were cheaper but 500/1250coin is way too much. Perhaps a scaling (buy your first add'l cover at 100coin and double for each additional) would find people spending and buying more coins to purchase-level their characters (especially at 2* -> 3* transition where it's so painful and time intensive to earn or highly improbable to randomly get a *** cover), and being able to accelerate the growth of certain characters might have them playing with more variety...
BTW no one can use OBW cause of it being GSBW tournament. but when you enter daredevil, you will see daredevil/ OBW/ thor ares to yur heart content and if your MMR high enough daredevil/ patch/ 3* daken. then you can complain that u can't heal after matches cause AI OWB destroyed your health with espionage wittling you slowly and can play 5 matches at a time.0 -

On a related note:
Today for my first time ever, have I been forced to take Daken back into the prologue to have him regenerate health, just to save those precious few health packs for recovery of other characters now that in-battle healing is no longer a thing. It was arduous, it was boring and it reminded me of those dark weeks before I had laid hands on some OBW covers to get some real healing done and actually go places in PvE and PvP events.
So... let us celebrate the end of prologue healing... CHEERS.0 -
Adding to the chorus of not in favor.
Having characters that actually healed let me play a lot longer and so I'd do that. Now it just means I treat it like any other timed game, play until I can't which is now a much shorter period and call it day. I'd been playing long stretches nearly every day since I started (tomorrow will be day 237). I've recently found a couple of other games that are holding my attention hence it taking me a few days to even realize this was a thing that had happened.
I usually am very much not a fan of the I'm going to take my ball and go home posts and that's not exactly what I'm saying. But I am saying the new game mechanics literally encourage me to play less and go elsewhere because I don't want to spend money on health packs. And I need to be choosier about which events I participate in, I guess. I have spent money on opening new slots if I have a new character but no place to put it. And I would get new characters fairly frequently because I could have built up a healthy roster at this point and I could spend a while playing in various events/tournaments because I could heal characters. Since I can no longer do that and am therefore less likely to place well in events and earn cards I don't already have (I'm at the point now where I can easily go through 20-30 tokens including some heroic tokens and not get a single new card) I'm now less likely to spend any money on the game than I was before. I doubt very much that was the intention of the change (presumably the intention was to encourage people to buy health packs) but that's the actual effect it is having on this player, for what it's worth.
I do understand the need to make money on the game, I'm not faulting the company for that. But people are more inclined to spend money on games they enjoy and can play for a longer period. And I suspect most people are more inclined to spend money on something with a lasting effect, e.g. new character slots, tokens, and depending on the level of impatience even ISO. Most people I know don't really object to optional microtransactions, it's when you feel like they're necessary to just play the game that people become unhappy.
FWIW, it also takes away a feeling of having actually accomplished something. I remember in the early days when I'd run through packs very quickly and have to stop playing for a while. Once I leveled up OBW I actually felt like I had a more powerful roster and a more powerful player level. Now I'm back to feeling like I'm a fresh player who can only play a few rounds at a time. It's a less powerful account wide feeling, if that makes any sense.
Just one person's opinion but it may also be worth noting this is one of the very few times I've felt moved to actually post a response to a change even though there have been changes in the past I haven't necessarily loved.0 -
I still think they are still laughing their **** off in D3 offices, saying this was for diversity. they implement this during a heroic with it's limited roster, so they can see how many desperate "idiots" would buy heath pack so they can still play in heroic juggs to try and rank to get a sub par designed she-hulk (nerfed before released, insert more laughing in office). then 2 days after they do another heroic (with limited roster once again) with a much longer grind of 6 and half day (2x longer than heroic juggs). so where is our diversity in PVE. For PvP now that daredevil started every team is still OBW/ Thor or Ares for my MMR. and now a call of the storm or onslaught/sunder will make most people only be able to play 4 matches. and if anyone would use any team other than their "A" team they will lose point faster than gaining them.
The least you can do for PvP is to let us a set defense team option so no matter what team we are using the one that is representing us in the computer MMR is our "A" team and not our "forced" diversity **** teams.0 -

Yeah, I get that (just poorly stated on my end). I don't think it's a coincidence that they rolled this out during a PVP event w/in which you can't use OBW. I'm just stating that without her in the mix it does add some variety to PVP that I like. If the intent is you will drop out of your OBW/Ares/Thor rut into some of your other high **/mid-*** for extended PVP play I really think it's a good change and lead to more mix in the PVP. It's just that when health would run low I'd go to a PVE event to recharge and gain points (mostly! I'd often go in and have my **** handed due to some unfortunate drops or countdowns) before going back to PVE. It consistently allowed for a good, solid 45 - 90 minutes of game time which I think we're going to miss now. But I honestly enjoyed not having the OBW crutch and constant OBW opponent in the PVP, just would prefer some compensatory recharge option. The accelerated character health just isn't enough. The health packs need to refresh at double-time I think to get back some of that balance.
I'll have to see how the Daredevil PVP fares (as well as this new Dark Avengers Heroic PVE which seems to be designed in part to test her out with "True Health")0
