Honestly, the only thing that the developers will probably respond to is the app rating taking a hit due to the change. Working for a tech company, bad ratings and reviews on an app are what we pay the most attention to, more than forums or online chatter. Social media is a close second, but this game isn't large enough currently that a social media push would do much. Think about how people for the company were tweeting about the number of times the app has been downloaded, etc.

I don't want to advocate a ratings spam on the app, because I don't really believe that will accomplish much. They will see it as a spam and disregard. But if you feel it's a 1 star game after the healing nerf, you should rate it as such. So much of the marketing that the developer does for this game talks about how the ratings are great, and IGN loves it, and it's in the top downloads list. There's no better way to make your opinion felt than that aspect, since the multi-page thread here hasn't done much. A drop in the rating could mean less people would download the game, and that will hit the developer where it hurts.

I personally want to see how it goes now that the changes are live. But I rate apps how I see them. And if I think it's really **** after this, I will rate it as such. And I encourage everyone else to do the same. If you think it's 5 star after, then rate it as such!

On the steam store for the pc version, the game has 82% negative reviews (out of 1,172). Nearly all of the comments are about the harsh p2w/p2progress wall.

They are rather sterling for the iTunes store and Google Play:

off to play TF2 where other players respect me for healing them, like is right and proper, and I can play as much as I want
  • I really think with the direction this game is going, that deliberately getting yourself sandboxed may now be more fun than playing legit. It basically fixes all the stupid stuff and problems. You no longer have to worry about playing at specific times for days on end, you can play exactly as many matches as you want, and you won't miss the story due to scaling. Healing becomes irrelevant, no more retaliations. You get much more team variety, which is far more fun, rather than having 20 useless 5-7 cover 3*s clogging up your roster. The need for tanking goes away, you can take on riskier fights without worrying that you are blowing your chances to win.

While I haven't tried it personally, overall, it seems sandbox MPQ is actually a better game than legit MPQ
  • True Healing needs a new name:

    Faux-Healing?
    Poo-Healing?
    ARPDAU-Healing?
  • We might, maybe, see a bit more diversity at the very top end, where people have 6+ 141s, but the rest of us are not going to do so well. I don't have a wide team that can compete in my MMR: I could barely get 1 cover per PvP, with effort, before, and that was with major healing. And why would anyone play a secondary team in PVP? It just means you'll get retaliated more.

Repeat after me: Mandatory character, Patch, Lazy Daken. The moment you want to stop climbing, add some Sentry.
  • Ostensibly, the only problem is that you miss out on alliance covers / rewards.

Of course, them returning the alliance covers to the top 5 finishers of PVPs and top 10 finishers of PVEs kind of makes that a moot point. That and unlimited HP meaning you only need one cover to spec them the way you want them.

Obviously their "time played" number is going to go way down...people simply won't be able to put in as many hours. But they won't look at that number. The only number they'll look at is the one behind the dollar sign, I don't know if it will go up with people that will buy healing packs.

It might go up initially (not from me, or many here it sounds like), but I bet that healing pack number can't sustain your business. And I bet the number they should look at is the number of people who log on daily, which should drop dramatically from this day forward.

Think i'll spend the time I would have used playing writing bad reviews and spamming them everywhere.
Steam, google play and itunes here i come.
  • Well done, you single-handedly destroyed with one greedy and really stupid patch.

Ofc you think that people are effing stupid, swallow your feces, thank you for it and spend real money to keep playing? I spent money on Char slots and was thinking about doing it again. But not when you screw over your community by your unintelligent greed.

You made the already very flimsy balance between f2p and pay2win a complete joke. Whoever now pays more money has massive advantages against everyone else, as they can heal up while everyone else has to wait for effing HOURS.

And you LIE to players and think we are stupid and pretend it was to save us time? Are you mad? Have you completely lost your minds? Do you really think your playerbase is so stupid? That's just insulting. Everyone who isn't mentally challenged sees that you just want people to spent real money to cut down on waiting time.

Screw you, you lost a paying customer and I won't be the last.

    The internet doesn't forget.

Here's a thought... will a reduction in time played by all players end up reducing the load significantly on their servers?

If so, it may mean that an intended consequence of this is that they no longer have to "fix" the persistent server issues caused by overloads of users.

Of course, this is not "fixed" in a good and meaningful way, but these guys seem pretty short-sighted.

It also amuses me how this change supposed to allow me to play "at my pace".
    ~snip~
    After:
I lose enough health to have team dead after 3-4 battles in 15 minutes, add another 20 because I can revive with regen packs. So, after 35 minutes I get presented with "Fu... nbalance you, go wait 5 hours" screen, the rest of my free time can't be used on game and if I want to stay competitive I MUST come back and intervals set by YOU.

How the hell it is playing "at MY pace"?

    1000 times this!!! Good Point!
  • 3 questions came to mind....

    1) Why did they give temporary healing to HAMMER lieutenants? What difference does that make? I decided it's probably to make us feel better that our healing got broken because the poor HAMMER goons are suffering the same... right?

    2) Does using Patch/Daken and the loaned featured hero count as increasing my roster diversity? I would never have used the loaned hero before! Must count right?

    3) Does this thread count as a discussion? Doesn't feel so much like it to me.... can we get Emeryt back to change the thread title to something a LOT less misleading? icon_mrgreen.gif

What a load of ****..... Sorry 2* guys....
  • I am almost out of words to express how this change just made me mad.

This is clear a way of getting more money, which I have unwisely done in the beginning of the game. With so much rubberbanding in the events, one should have around 3,000 characters to be able to play without healing. Additionally, there is no extra space for the temporary healing effect, meaning that if one character is full of energy when healing is used for one of the members, basically this healing is lost. This ability has become then way too expensive for the game.

It is interesting how they speak about diversification. I could already see that people started the new game with daken and wolverine, so they can play a bit longer. And for the sake of playing the game, when you have a pvp, one character is fix, therefore, when this character is severely hit during a battle, even if the others did resist well, there is no way one would play more. The only diversification I see here is on the number of credit cards flowing money to their accounts in order to buy extra healing packs and people shielding during all the event, as now every single hit means that time will be definitely be lost for healing.

I see that my time in this game might have come to an end. I hope that the developers undo this change before many of us just migrate to another game.

You can steal Lieu's healing tiles with Moonstone, that's why.

Even Hot dog is abusable, but that's crazy! Really crazy.
  • I also registered just to put a note of my "displeasure" (read: freaking PISSED) at this change. I used to play the game at a very slow pace until I got OBW and her healing ability, then I was able to play when I wanted. Now, as so many others have stated, I'm stuck with very limited time, because I refuse to use HP on health packs. Not only will I continue to do that, but until this is rolled back or made into something viable, I will not be spending any more money for hero points.

Terribly disappointed we had less then 48 hours of "discussion" and this poorly received change was implemented without so much as a real acknowledgement from D3 that the majority of posters here thought it was a bad design decision.

I am impressed by the number of people creating an account on the forum just after this change, or posting here while never saying anything.
This time, maybe the "forum addict" are not alone and represent the real community point of view.
  • It's a good thing they had that ISO/HP sale right before implementing the True Healing feature a couple days later.

Good old bait and switch, to pad their pockets before the fallout.

The last bait-and-switch I saw end this badly was when Penn State had a big alumni fund drive that ended right before the Jerry Sandusky child molestation charges hit the fan.

Needless to say, there were a TON of pissed-off donors demanding their money back afterward.
