I think he will be as good as his green, that is going to be his defining power. And at 2/2/2 even Gambit is quite meh too, I think you really need green at 5, as you get an extra repeater tile AND it goes off every turn, that is a BIG difference, red and black have just incremental updates so those ones are much easier to judge.
