Disabled PVP Supports

The following supports have been disabled in all PVP events and will be reintroduced in the future once we've had a chance to rebalance them.- Leapfrog (Amphibious Transport)
- FantastiCar (Four Seater)
- Eros's Arrow (Lovestruck)
- Thanos-Copter (Villainous Vehicle)
Additionally, PVP Lightning Rounds should have ALL SUPPORTS disabled. The recent enabling of supports in Unity was unintended and we do not have future plans to enable them in Lighting Rounds in the future.
Quick update:
For the events that are already made like Elsa's Ray Gun Madness, the supports are still in there, but all PVP events in the near future should have them disabled. I believe Quicksilver & Spider Rex will have them enabled since I see their event info in my tracker.I personally think any support that can initiate a turn-one winfinite should be disabled (that bloody green fruit that gives riri the chance to aural assault on turn one with coulson is ridiculous).

Just bring your own coulson and multiple man equipped with the stepford cuckoo support and ap boosts. Every time MM fires his free yellow he'll steal their ap.

Eh, I think they've set a precedent here. If (or probably when) the free AP supports become the dominant metagame then they need to look at those too. I don't know that we're there yet.

The first time players had the taste of free ap abuse was during the Gambit fiasco. Then Gambit was nerfed to oblivion. But this situation of support related free ap 'exploit' is different because this will tempt us to chase those supports, which is a huge money pit. Chasing character is much easier.
Thus i personally will not expect dev to do anything about it.

The Heavy Metal offered some temporary egregiousness as well. Turn 1 ludicrous voltage from Victorious, which could be countered by a turn 1 mega Unibeam from IM40.
That's 13 red AP at the drop.

I don't have 5* coulson .......... Plus I'll still be stunned on turn one and be doomed

How would you be stunned on turn 1? If you fire off MM yellow on each color on turn one, you will have stolen all of their ap and riri can't stun you. Do you mean they are paired with chasm? Bring your own chasm to counter it.
Coulson doesn't need to be ascended for this team to work, it just makes it much faster to get the ap to reach MM alternate win condition.

Unless they have Chasm, you can shut down any starting AP with MM and Cuckoos

If those supports are removed from PvP,
Low Level AI (advanced Programing) should be removed also.0 -
It begs the question.... What do people want supports to do? What's powerful enough to matter at that level but not so powerful that it outright decides most matches?

Some of them are just "you win the game immediately," a few are massive, game-breaking powers, and the other half are things like "50% chance to create a strength 10 strike tile when you make a match-4, can only be equipped to Black Panther."
So it's not at all clear what they're actually meant to be. They're hard to acquire and level which suggests they should be strong, but most of them are truly awful.

It supports (harhar) anyones strike tile game, which is quite a few chars. Agree, doesn't seem egregious (heh) at all.

"We are excited to share a brand new feature we believe you will enjoy called Supports. Supports will be arriving in Marvel Puzzle Quest next week. What is Supports you ask? In brief, Supports brings all the elements of the Marvel Universe to Marvel Puzzle Quest in the form of bonus items, vehicles, locations, and sidekick (companion) characters, which will be equipped to your 3, 4, and 5-star characters, giving them access to increased stats and new powers and abilities! "
Basically, even back then it isn't clear quite what they are and how powerful they should be and nothing has really changed much in the seven + years since.

Back then (at first) I remember basically thinking they were almost a joke, for quite a while. Eventually they started making ones that seemed to matter a lot more.

It's just very weird. Are they supposed to be Ancestral Plane, or Yaro Root, or Leapfrog? How can all 3 of those be the same thing? The balance among supports somehow manages to be worse than characters.

They aren't supposed to be the same thing. You are rating them with a PvP only point of view.
Leapfrog looks fabulous on defense in PvP. But it's an entirely different support in PvE where it rarely matters or even on offense in PvP it doesn't much matter esp if you are winning turn 0/1 running a winfinte etc.
Same with Yaro root. If you aren't running a team that uses / needs green it's basically a pointless support. On a green team it's invaluable.
How's that markedly different than the characters in the game? Polaris may be fabulous on an SAP team but she's essentially as useless as a Yaro Root on a non-green team when she is on a non-SAP team.
They were meant to complement certain characters (the ones affixed to characters) or affiliations or even certain teams (starting AP supports), not be general all around usage items.

Now do Ancestral Plane, Sharon Carter, and the Carol Corps.

Disagree. They were a nonfactor for years. Impossible to finish and near zero impact on any game mode. Being a joke, no one cared, beyond thinking what might have been.
Then they became obtainable, and impactful, and player passions were aroused.
That's a heckuva lot of change.

I was referring to what a support was supposed to be. Not that the collection and acquiring of supports hadn't changed.
