I do not care for defense since I'm not the AI, you see...

But the AI does play defense for you 100% of the time. Sacrifice isn't the skill I fear Sentry pulling off when I'm fighting a team with Sentry. Depending on what else is going on, World Rupture isn't the scariest thing either since it can be planned around. Supernova usually destroys EVERYONE on both sides.

And I fear Sacrfice. The amount of damage that one Sacrifice can do before you can get rid of the tile is oh so much worse than Supernova. All the AI has to do is cascade a few times and you just tok an extra 600 x 5. It's usually enough to wipe a few guys. Supernova is lethal but easy to deny, sacrifice not so much.

It was pretty stressful to see the damage from WR when you were just expecting to shield again...

    Open your eyes.

It's faster for everyone using sentry = sentry is even more OP than he was before. Just when there were a few semi-viable options to sentry bombing, they go and cut his match times in half.

    Most Excellent!

I also believe this is a precursor to his damage being nerfed. Significantly.

Then just wait for the boy who cried wolf and then cried rags to cry SENTRY!!

It's an overall quality of life change for the better.
I find it hard to complain.

The fact that sentry happens to be even more broken due to it just puts more pressure towards nerfing him.
Maybe the inevitable Sentry nerf will get bumped up to the year 2015 from 2016 icon_razz.gif

Well that would be true if the majority of my points weren't still coming from my own victories. I guess I didn't say it very well but Sentry works Very well when it comes to what he does. Max Sacrifice and Rupture isn't exactly needed to get that done even if you're just using WR and Sacrifice. It helps, but no way is it unusable. It's still very effective.

P.S. My Hood is still at 5/5/3 :/
That's the correct Hood build if you only have one.
I dunno, you can't use Supernova while climbing even once since you need healthpacks after that, for Hood for sure. It's not a bad skill but WR + Sac is the way to go while not needing healthpacks after every single fight. Supernova isn't, it's very simple.

I complained about animations taking too long. It's my fault.

Supernova, either the AI or the player one, happens maybe in 1/100 games in mirror matchups of Sentry/Hood vs Sentry/Hood. I dunno. It definitely doesn't happen often in my games, I suppose same stays true for most other Sentry players (shieldhoppers, to be exact). If I only ran Sentry to have a scary defensive team, then yes I could think about maxing Supernova since I am not running Sentry the way he works best anyway.

The devs are like a cursed monkey paw. They will grant your wishes, but you have to be reeeaaaalllly specific or something horrible will happen.
  • I'm glad my sentry is slowly getting more covers. I like 3/5/5 definetly more.
  • It's not so much as Supernova is a desperation move but that green/yellow dominates the game right now. Let's say you're hypothetically given a 5/5/5 Sentry so you don't have to worry about the tradeoffs to begin with, you still need to deny your opponent green/yellow immediately in any matchup against a top tier character because green/yellow are the choice of attack colors. Even if you just used a WR with no strike tiles the value is more than just the damage done by WR. It's the value of your opponent likely not having enough green to do their WR/Call The Storm/X Force. Similar case can be made for yellow. It's a move to use if you happen to have enough red before you have enough for a WR but 11 red don't usually just fall into your lap when you're not even trying to collect that color. Even if they nerfed WR to say never interact with strike tiles and Sacrifice was changed to suck, it'd still be hard to max out Supernova because you got to defend against moves like Call the Storm/X Force/Thunder Strike/Battleplan so you don't have much of a choice there.

Im pretty sure that their microscope says that 10/10 top teams in the current PVP are using Sentry......

They will re-evaluate after this PVP as now people have more covers, meaning more use of Sentry in the wild so a better data set to look at. Give them an evaluation period, then some design/tinkering, followed by some testing (Im optimistic they do it) followed by delay, communication, more delay and then we will see the change released. Dont worry, its coming. Just not very soon (for good/bad reasons).

I know, right? But I won't be satisfied until they buff boosts.

I want to have the option to be able to purchase a full stack of boosts. I don't mind if I have to do it in increments of 5 or 10.
I use boosts to save time and help me win faster. I don't feel there is any benefit to showing me the boosts I'm using prior to the start of a fight. Now that World Rupture is faster than ever, I need those precious seconds. Informing me which boosts I will be using before I fight (before breaking shield, after selecting boosts) would be useful. An option to remove all boosts with one button would be awesome. If I neglect to select boosts/select TU's it's because I don't want to bother with it. I wouldn't mind an option to randomly place teamups in empty slots.
  • Just started the PVP for Sentry.
Before the last PVP where I got 3 sentry covers and the 1 cover I got from the PVE, My Sentry was 1/1/4, so I've never used him.

My Sentry is now 3/3/4 and boosted to level 156.

I've long been an advocate against Sentry because of how brokenly strong he is.

But I had no idea how strong....

It is so fun getting 7 green and 8 yellow and just watching the enemy team melt.

I'm sorry for being so judgmental to Sentry users. If I'd been winning games like this for so long, I'd have probably forgot how to even play the game, so I can definitely understand why you all don't want him nerfed.

It makes complete sense to me now. It is a lot of fun effortlessly winning games!
  • I guess their microscope showed them that they needed to speed up his World Rupture animation and leave everyone elses alone.

I guess Mr. Sentry gets special treatment.
  • Just a reminder: "It's broken for everyone, therefore it's balanced" is not good game balance theory.

    NO.

So are you volunteering to play banjo?

I am staking out the uke on this one.

That would be an interesting gag. Change the in-game music style to match folk-music of various cultures.

What I don't understand, and makes the whole thing feel really like an intended buff for an already broken character, is why it doesn't speed up in defence.
  • I'd laugh if Sentry's World Rupture animation is elongated to the point it's like the animation from Final Fantasy 7 when you cast Bahamut Zero. Remember how long that took? To refresh your memory, just envision replacing the dragon in the below clip with Sentry:

That'd be a clear message (or April Fool's joke) from the devs. icon_lol.gif

The thing that baffles me is that some person or group of people at Demiurge actually sat around in a room and decided that a Sentry tournament with Deadpool as a prize was the best way to finish the season.....
