punisher is too strong when comparing with other 3*

A single 141 Thor just dropped my group of 97s. Had Spider-man, IM40, and Hood. Got him down to 400 health before he dropped all 3. The only problem I had was I could not leech his Yellow due to only 4 covers in blue (debating on purchasing the 5th blur). The hits were ridiculously brutal and it felt like facing Ragnarok in PvE way back at launch when I first started. That was overpowered but nowhere near unbeatable.Just came down to the board in end like every other match.

if he is not op, how come he appear every where in pvp?

what is the reason of this?

It's simple. His covers have been given out repeatedly, and more importantly, his skills mean that he is a great utility character who fits within a lot of teams.

You need to realise a simple truth - a popular character is not necessarily an overpowered character. Punisher is NOT overpowered. If you think he is, you're in for a rude awakening when you start to face Lazy Thor a lot.
  • Punisher has been given out like candy, which would explain why he's frequently used. It has nothing to do with him being OP . He's many people's first (if not only) 141.
  • From what I know, most (if not all) players with 1* roster use IM35. By this logic, is he too strong when comparing him to other 1*?

Punisher is good. He's got everything - AoE, Strike Tiles, good dmg, small board shake-up. He's like 2* and a half - no one helps better in the transition to 3*.
  • Punisher's green helps to amplify other attacks, he has a useful black, and his red is a great way to take down the hitpoint tanks like LT or Hulk, making Punisher good in both PVP and PVE where enemy scaling takes greater effect. All of this is balanced out by the fact that he has a pretty average amount of health (5800) for a 3*, his green could possibly blow up your own utility tiles, and not one of his abilities alone result in "insta-downs".

Pun is one of the most well-balanced characters in the game. In this instance, overuse has no bearing on strength.

OP is someone who complained about oBW being over-represented in PvP, so...
As for the Punisher, that's a very good balanced character (he sure looks balanced compared to both Loki and lazyThor). Sometimes I lose to Punpun/oBW teams on offense and I don't feel ashamed, they are strong and catch silly players off-guard. But in the era of blatantly powerful characters like lazyThor/lazyDaken/Sentry (Daken is more balanced but still ridiculously strong and overshadowing Patch easily) Punisher is the last guy you should be thinking of nerfing.

Honestly speaking, OBW is over-represented but she falls into the same category as Punisher. She has a lot of utility as a support character. To be perfectly honest, if you gave me another character that had a move similar to Espionage, I'd most likely throw them into the mix over her. Not really the AP steal on that but the double tap. Do we even have another character who has a skill that does a double tap similar to Espionage?
  • accordding to d3p logic, overuse = overpower

there are examples happened before spider, thor, wolve, rag....

All of whom were actually OP - If thorverine werent, people wouldnt still use them. And although Rags got super nerfed he was OP before that. Punisher never was and never will be. The end
  • Punisher is too strong? No. The line is too long till the day comes for him to be nerfed. Almost all the recently released characters are way too stronger than him. Not to mention an old one who's on the line for how long I don't know now.
  • If jozier were here, he'd call this thread stupid.

i knew people skip hulk, hood, l thor, c mag matches. but never a pun match. why would he be considered op.

Anecdotally, I'm pretty sure I've lost to OBW+Punisher more often than I've lost to any other pairing, and I will skip them before I'll skip OBW+LThor (as an example). I actually feel more confident in my ability to beat the Hulk than in my ability to beat a similarly leveled Punisher.

Mind you, that doesn't mean he should be nerfed. I'm just saying, I'll skip him before I skip Thor or CMags.

Not true at all. If D3 are only nerfing the characters that are overused, and therefore overpowered, cMags would not be in line for a nerf. He's one of the less common 3* characters that I come across, so by your (insane) logic, that would mean he's not OP.

You're just digging yourself further into that hole by not admitting you were wrong to say Punisher is OP. We need The Ladder to help you get back out of it.
  • Anecdotally, I'm pretty sure I've lost to OBW+Punisher more often than I've lost to any other pairing.

That could simply be because it's one of the most common pairings you're likely to come across, certainly if you're matched against players making the 2*->3* transition.
  • I will admit I haven't read the entire thread but I just thought I would pop on and say Punisher probably isn't even top 5 for 3* heroes and his common usage speaks more to him being fairly useful with any other 2 heroes, having been around long enough for people to have had a chance to level him and his covers being given out like candy a few months ago.

He has 3 fairly cheap damaging abilities with a bit of AoE thrown in there but is hardly devastating. When Ares gets boosted to 125 in PvE I would say he's a better hero than a 141 punisher.

Oh, that's absolutely part of it, but I compare to OBW+LThor because they seem to be becoming as popular.

I don't think there is anything real to my perception that Judgement always leads to a cascade that includes a purple match-5, which leads to... well, you can guess the rest. But it's happened often enough that I don't ever, ever want to see it happen again.

Once again, Punisher is not overpowered, he just hates me. I know because mine is sitting at 5/1/5, because those are the covers I've pulled. See? Hates me.

I dont know who thinks Pun is too strong. Just about every team has a green character whether its Punisher, Thor, Hulk, etc. I dont ever look at a 141 Punisher alone and get skerd, its the OBW that is next to him that has me worried. The computer doesn't have any idea what its doing when laying down strike tiles. Usually it will put em down and then immediately match them away. I think its just that a lot of people have max covers for Punisher and so he just became their first 3 * that could be leveled up.
  • i just had a thought today about his nerf possibility, according to d3 practice if punisher is nerfed they can increase their revenue by a huge amount. i dont see any point they dont want to do it. people have punisher are easier to get their target cover ie no incentives to invest money...
