This character...seems like he will be very strong. I can't quite tell if he will be the new Chasm or not.

I'll be the first to admit that my initial impressions have hardly been perfect, but he seems like a beast.

Looks good. But I'm a bit surprised he doesn't come with an anti-revive mechanic.

Hmmm. Interesting. Black seems actually pretty weak - it does damage, sure, but not a heck of a lot unless one of your opponents has a good passive heal. If they do, though, this would be a decent counter - it reduces it and feeds the damage on the black. I'm not sure if the numbers would justify it, I guess we'll have to take him against one of the really effective burst healers (May perhaps? M'Baku?) and see if he counters them well. It seems to be one of the things he's designed for.

Purple is... strange. It's a pretty nice stun for cheap, and reduces that character's max hp (neat, particularly against a regenerator who would also trigger Mephisto's black,) but it also burst heals the whole enemy team which is a bit of a setback. Only two turns though (it doesn't go up with additional covers.) The passive doesn't suck, particularly with...

Blue seems... honestly very good. You start with 3 of these "hellfire" tiles, and at the end of each turn they probably double so long as they have basic tiles to spread to, and do one "tick" each time they spread (I assume each time each one spreads.) You can make more for cheap, and they also "tick" when matched by either team, though they don't when destroyed by, say, a match-4. They suffer from most of the vulnerabilities of anything that relies on "tiles on the board," (i.e. MThor eats his lunch,) but still, that's some pretty good passive damage under many, many circumstances. They also fall from the top up to 1/5 the time, and he can make more.
That's passive damage that kind of make Gorr and 5Magik look like amateurs (which admittedly they both do other things.) I definitely like it.

I'm not sure if I see "overpoweringly strong" in this kit, but I think he does some things pretty well.

The Hellfire thing could be strong, but note that only two tiles will tick per turn. You can get more ticks by matching them, but not destroying them, so he doesn't really work with m'Thor.

He's very good at countering healers (and damage preventers, to some extent), and that was something we needed to counterbalance some of these guys. His black power will be very, very strong against any team that includes a healer.

Are you talking about Chasm? I thought the same thing at first, but...he doesn't actually heal THAT much anymore, and he's way easier to kill now in general.

Mephisto would've been great against pre-nerf Chasm though!

Okay, this is wild. Yesterday I was hoping we'd see a character that heals the enemy team, in order to emphasise permanent damage from characters like Kaine. Then...speak of the devil, I guess?

I don't see him making a huge splash in the current meta, but I'm willing to try him. Shame about his colours overlapping with most of my champed 5 stars though. I was thinking red and yellow instead.

Oh no I'm just being silly and off topic

The children's show Bluey is about the Heeler family.

In my defense, that's actually a pretty good nickname for Chasm!

It still throws me off that he's blue and doesn't have a blue power.

Ah, yes, I didn't note that it's 2 per turn. So it looks like you get a spread (2 Hellfire tile spread onto an adjacent tile) at:

    • the end of your turn
    • whenever you fire the power

And you'll get two hits of damage at the above times, and one hit whenever either you or the enemy match one of these tiles. At a bit above 2K per hit at 450/5 covers, it's definitely not bad but it will only be a lot of damage with enhancers such as Okoye or Apoc, or with strike tiles.

I'm thinking he's going to be decent, but not move the meta particularly. Still, having him in the same legendary pool as Agatha seems like it will be a good time to pull. I guess I have to decide just how much Hotpool I want (he'll push Hotpool out,) how much Nova I'm willing to get, and how much I want Mephisto and Agatha.

Nova is pretty weak, I think, so I'm guessing once I get my Hotpool to the level I want him, I'll be done pulling until Nova is out and ?? is in.

Black doesn't seem to care who's team is doing the healing. There's a lot of healers that could get out of hand.

Looks pretty good. 15% healing reduction SOUNDS a bit low though, even though it adds it to himself. Like...when shang heals for 50k mephisto is only taking off 7500.

Purple question: Wording is vague, but I'm guessing it means his damage is permanent/unmitigatable specifically AGAINST those stunned people? Or does he just get the buff if any enemy is stunned?

Also, what exactly does "can't be mitigated" mean? Just protect tiles? What about supports like eros arrow, omnipotence city? Can Mayday dodge it?

Years back I made a prediction that Hellcat would be Hela's feeder based solely on the idea that the name had the word "Hell" in it.

I was wrong then but now's my time to shine!

Hellcat. Because I know nothing of comics Mephisto and she has "Hell" in her name

Well, he adds the missed heal to his Black damage. That may add up with characters who do a lot of burst healing (or regenerate) but probably not a whole heck of a lot.

The strictest reading of the power is that if any enemy is stunned, damage Mephisto inflicts on any opponent lowers their max hit points and cannot be prevented by anything - that should include Protect tiles, Scarlet Witch's damage reduction, Colossus' match damage reduction, Eros' arrow, Mayday's dodge, etc. I'd say it's not impossible that they messed up the wording of this and it's only against the Stunned opponent, but we'll see I guess.

Oh good, a cp store with Dr. Strange in it. I was getting worried when we hadn't had one in a couple months.

I realize you're being sarcastic but there's one going on right now.

I find this very disappointing - at this point there are a ton of supernatural people they could have put in his stead.
