This all seems destined for disaster + roster slots. The 5/3 ended up eating my dupes so basically I am staring down the barrel here. Great.

I'm less terrified seeing the notice... They seem to have our thought into it... With each tier being their own thing they can be adjusted.
Roster slots will be an issue though I usually sell a maxxed character as I'm rostering the new for building.... This seems like it'll require multiple dupes going at once.

Unless you already have multiple sets of max-champed 4* sitting in the wings, it is going to take a LONG time to 550 a 4* at a 4:1 level ratio. I think we'll see some jumped up 1* juggernauts relatively soon though. If those dirty "ascended N* " required nodes ever go live there'll be a ton of sad players locked out for sure. I guess I'd like to see an Ascended reward tree to understand if it's worth it to lose out on the swap ratio. 5* rewards are pretty good, but missing out on lower tier feeder rewards seems impactful.

And why not for 5* players a "overpower system" from 550 to "i dont know". The health bar and base damage is the same but the powers increases with the levels adition.
For me no rebalance in needed, good charachters have their own mutiples nemesis. Al this people go to 5* so no problem with that. If a problem exist with a to strong character, create multiples heavy counter to him.
My wish is the developpers upgrade the current 5* charachters to another level with a stronger match damage and more powerfull and usefull ability.

If you look at that list almost all the problematic characters aren't on it (3DS, Thanos, 3Gambit, 1Juggs...) they have to either really fine tune those by tier or rework them in some way to make them make sense, and I think the locked list is an implicit recognition of that.
The only characters that looks problematic right away are Valk (because she gets worse as she levels), and Rouge. The later I am really surprised to see her on that list. She is going to be a beast, but like you said it will be a while before we see her.
1* spiderman might be a challenge, as he is powerful when boosted, but I think that is in the "wait and see" what his 5* scaling is category. They are 100% going to need to do some tweaks to some toons, but I'm glad that they can tweak by num *s per each toon.

Not sure I'd ever pick 1* Spider Man over Shang Chi.
Doubt boosting Dr Strange all that way would be worth the effort either even though he'd probably be better than his natural five star incarnation.
Still waiting for the real destroyer to emerge from this - I'm sure there will be one (or more) and I'm quite looking forward to it.

The 1*s on the list are the ones with three powers, and thus can be raised to level 50.
In the Search Roster QOL thread, we see that they are testing adding a third power, perhaps there is some difficulty getting the ascend feature to work on two-power characters at level 40.

I saw that it seems the 1* who don't have three powers might be getting an extra one. Makes sense I guess otherwise they have a massive advantage cover collection wise.

2 power 1-Stars can still get to 550. But yes, we would like to update all of the 1s with extra powers.

So far it's a big nothingburger for us PvE players at least (thank goodness). Mostly just a disappointment that you can't take ascended characters to speed up the DDQ

Has anyone changed their opinion on this now that we're into the second batch of ascendable characters?
Have to say that for me it has breathed a bit of new life into the game with most tokens and covers now having some added meaning, and some medium / long term goals to aim for.
