    A bit ominous the team has presumably been at work for a time and no comment yet that a fix is on the way (even without a specified timeline).  Maybe they’re in a Monday meeting. 

    At least we can put to bed the awful idea of a character who passively deactivates passives. Or, iow, a character who
    makes the game really unfun.

    We know Chasm is intended to stop start of battle effects like BRB and Rocket. The devs said that much. 

    It is possible that it is stopping more abilities than intended. Until we hear from the devs though, it is conjecture to say which are intended and which are not intended. 

    It is clear this character is doing something that has never been considered before. This power may have some bugs to fix, but that only means that we are breaking into new territory with what is possible in an ability. 

    This is definitively a good thing. We want new ideas and new mechanics. Complaining ad nauseum or demanding someone be fired is incredibly unwarranted. Internal testing is extremely limited compared to the amount of playtime a character gets on release; just give the devs some time to figure things out. It's been literally not even two business days.

    I think we need Dev clarification on Chasm. Whether he is working as intended or he is bugged.

    Is this the first 5 star that is 100 % new devs? If that the case I guess they went big on their first outing hahaha

    Everything after Gargantos. They said they only did the art for him, as it was during the transition. 

    I could be misremembering, but I believe it was in Q&A.

    Clearly not working as intended - read the character blog and what it says about Shang Chi. If they had intended him to (randomly) shut down a bunch of passives then they would have mentioned it. PVP has been okay so far, but very dull. I am grinding away with colossus and ihulk. Potentially part of a new defensive meta that will make the game slower and less enjoyable.

    Updated first post to add reported issues with Adam and YJ. 

    Broken Circle is in CA, it's only about 11 am there on the first business day since this was identified. And it looks like they probably have to debug each character's power interactions. IIRC there were multiple character engineers, and clearly similar powers don't always work the same way. New dev team, and all that code is new to them. 

    I'm sure they will implement a fix and clarify what is supposed to work this way and what doesn't. Just trying to list the interactions so people don't waste more health packs figuring it out. And maybe it helps troubleshoot on the dev side by having a single list of known issues.

    ... They specifically did mention that it shuts down a bunch of start of game passives. Also, the blog does call out that Chasm is intended as a Shang Chi counter. So again, we do not know which interactions are intended and which are not.

    @AdeptusRevolt I agree that it is beneficial to track everything for possible reference by the devs. I'm complaining moreso about the people that are being overly negative. There's a lot of Karen energy coming out here and on reddit with this character release.

    He was intended as a counter to Shang Chi by reducing his AP gen and minimizing cascades by introducing special tiles that generate no AP.

    "wreak havoc on heroes like Shang-Chi with abilities that align with Chasm’s strengths. Denying Shang-Chi’s purple matches and flooding the board with Abyss tiles can stop him from launching those devastatingly huge matches that win games outright"

    Not eliminating the essential component of his play. The same goes for Big Wheel. It is clearly a bug in the interaction on not what was intended when reading the dev blog.

    Yup.

    I suspect that at the start of battle, characters have their passive powers added to a passive list of some kind that gets checked during the game to see if the passive triggered. Since we know Chasm created a whole new level (pre-pre battle) my guess is that this is preventing the list from being generated correctly (maybe because everyone starts stunned). What will have to happen is every character is going to have to be manually checked to see if their passives should be added (SC for example) since they happen during the game or not (start of battle stuff like BRB/Grocket).

    It also says probably a lot more character powers are broken than anyone realizes simply because those characters are so rarely used or would not be used against Chasm.

    It would be best for balance purposes to fix them all at once or none at all rather than piece meal. Not everyone comes here to find out which characters are broke and which are fixed and the lobbying for the order will be off the charts annoying.

    To be honest, the hotfix should really be to disable Chasm's passive power entirely (ie comment out the pre-pre battle code). Virtually no one has him covered so having him have 1 useless power for a week or two matters far less than having all the above characters (and more) be useless.

    You can add Scarlet Witch as well. Her green isn't working properly. Even with her repeater tile on the board she takes the full damage of an iHulk aoe in this garbage event.
