Token Previewing

So can we talk about this issue?  I know I’ve personally sent multiple tickets, direct messages spelling out how this is being done, and yet, this is still a fairly widespread issue where players can preview their token pulls and decide whether or not they went to spend that HP/CP/LT based on the potential results.

is this “working as intended”?  If so, can we add this feature for everyone so we can all be as well informed and need to gamble less on our pull results?

Is this considered cheating? If it's not, then everyone should have access to this knowledge. I suppose it's a higher level thing.  B)

To the best of my knowledge, it is considered cheating.

I would think so because if I posted the step-by-step walkthrough I have, i would get warned/banned, but I’ve never heard/seen anyone receive any type of recourse for their actions.  Kinda dissonant that I would get in trouble for posting *how* to do it, much more so than actually doing it (which I’ve never done).

I have no doubt that there are folks who have unknowingly done this (though it’d be a stretch given the circumstances needed to stumble into doing it) but I know for sure that there are players who do this regularly, and it’s more than just a couple.

And that’s also not getting into that there’s now a new preview with re-rolling vaults as well.

Limit each account to one device if it matters that much. It’s easy for me to do it many times as a mistake as I have it on 4 devices. My tablet and phone and my sons. I often message him begging to do clears or deadpool for me and there’s often overlap.

Forget covers the biggest benefit is for supports if you are that way inclined to get them.

I think the benefits are really small to be honest. Only really useful in special stores. I went 1 for about 60 in my last hoard break, previewing that would have made little difference. Previewing in a limited special store might have you spend a token or three but nothing major.

I got a warning for positing, in a pretty oblique manner, how a similar exploit might be performed. More as a thought experiment than anything else, in my defence. Based on that experience I would say that it’s unlikely to be a legit topic for the discussion boards.

It wouldn’t surprise me to find that there are a few different types of exploit out there. It’s up to you if you want to seek them out and use them. There will always be people who are willing to skirt or break the rules to get an edge so the playing field is very rarely properly level.

I’ve wondered, on occasion, whether I would be willing to trade a big stack of resources for life in the sandbox. Usually I end up concluding that I like my alliance and would miss everything that comes with it. Horses for courses, I guess.

Well, at the end of the day, you do what you gotta do to sleep better at night. I've come from one of the most corrupt country in the world, so I understand some people's mindset. The competitive nature and the willingness to do whatever it takes to win might be good for certain jobs or roles in life. But, that's not going to get much respect from me.
Could we have a poll to guess which country it is?

I thought this loop hole was fixed awhile back? Or are you still asking for the ban hammer for those that exploited it?

***Mod note: Just for the sake of clarity, no you are not allowed to provide details on how an exploit works, whether it be the token exploit or any other exploit you may run across.  We ask that you contact Customer Support. With that said, you are free to discuss the issue of token previewing and what should be done to address it.

No, previewing is unfortunately still a thing, and I agree with the OP that if they dev team isn't going to do anything to address it then it should be made available to everyone.

My impression is that it's an exploit in that demi/d3 don't want players to be able to do it.  But it's also a very hard one to fix without completely trashing the app's mobile performance (i.e. the most obvious solution would absolutely tank batteries).

To be fair, even if I searched how to do it I probably wouldn't use it. I like the poor-mans rush of opening a token and not knowing what I'm going to get. That split second of hoping for that Juggs cover to show before seeing that 2* storm cover....

When I thought that I hadn't been awarded a cover, Customer Support asked some questions that strongly implied that they knew about the preview exploit. That's enough to make me think that they consider it cheating.

Of course they don't like it.  Loot boxes are legal gambling (not sure why it is so hard for everyone to grasp this idea).  What casino would let you see cards before placing your bets in blackjack?

That’s kinda my contention - if it can’t be fixed, then the house needs to give the edge to all of us, not just the chosen few cheaters.

Which would be doing something, so the proposition is a paradox.

Using the blackjack example, "counting cards" isn't cheating, but you will be at best "strongly encouraged to leave the facility" if you are found or suspected to be doing it in a casino.

Off topic I know but I did always wonder why counting cards was frowned upon to the "asked to leave" level in casinos. You are only observing what has been dealt out.
I mean maybe that is it they only want to part drunk folk from their money, people paying attention is bad for business.

(Unless there is more to counting than that)
