Why ruin this cool new event with stupid objectives?

I completely ignore the supports when it comes to deck building. Once you do that, the objectives aren't that bad. I dont like not getting points just for winning though.

@ILikePancakes I edit them regulary? Don't get your point there (second half of your post).

Generally, I agree.. Some secondaires just don't feel right. Also, I want to add that it is really confusing to have the same secondaries as in old events with a new wording to them.
    Nevermind. I had a moment.

You know all those people who defended the weak tinykitty cards of ixalan and said it will feel better when you play them during the events because of all the boosts going around on each node

Well how do you feel now?
If it's limited to Ixalan only it would be OK. The only card I play from that set regularly in any event is river's rebuke.

I was optimistic, willing to give it a chance. I'm completely underwhelmed and disappointed now.

Actually, I wonder if they didn't made those nodes to be almost sure no one is able to score perfect ... One of the problems with HOD was precisely that it was required to score perfect or close to it to remain in top 25 ...
With this kind of nodes players are very likely to miss a few secundaries ... The event being rewarding the best scores, and not the perfect ones ...
       That's just a supposition though.

As Bil said I think that was their goal. Also to make sure that the decks that used to work (or were OP/braindead) would not score as before and force us to make new decks and choices.

Even though I've scored quite badly (even quit a Starfield match after 45 minutes) I really like it this way (for this event, I don't mean for all events) because it makes it stand out from the others.

A very unnecessary event. Objectives are not as hard, as they are simply tedious, taking forever. Also: I am playing exactly 1 XLN card. Why? Whatever they tried to achieve with node bonuses, it is not working. Even with bonuses XLN can’t match any of the standard sets by far. That something would be broken (coalition ranking), that was so clear, that we placed bets for what it would be. I put 10 Euro on “starting the event will erase Canada”. I lost obviously.

I like this event quite a bit too. The only real objective that was unfortunate IMO is the blue less than two spells because the node buff is specifically to cast spells to pump Merfolk.  I’d say either change that objective or the buff.

The others are creating the spread in scores you want to see. There’s one perfect score in my Platinum bracket at the moment and the second and third slots Also have one player each before the ties start to hit in fourth place. That’s what we should expect. If you can navigate and manage to get a perfect in these conditions, you should stand alone. ;)

Maybe unique objectives for the set like “find 4 treasures” or making the Summon 5 creatures tribal could be rotated in too?

I dislike most of the choices made for this event, but I do appreciate the attempt to make the objectives more precise. Cast 5 creatures is a better choice of phrase than summon 5 creatures for what the actual objective is, especially if you know paper terminology. I've only played paper with other people's decks, but I know a bit of the terminology.

Yeah, I can't say I'm enjoying this event either.  The lack of coalition points for even winning makes it possible that if you fail to clear an objective, you're not netting any points for yourself or your coalition.  Think I might sit this one out.

I don't mind the not getting points on win only without objectives, it makes it fun. What I do mind as many stated, is that nodes buff on ixa cards aren't tasty at all compared to the cards were used to. Plus many aren't playing more then a couple ixa cards as they are underpowered. Also well the broken coalition points...I like free easy stuff (if the event goes without any change), but there is no challenge. Last but not least....some nodes objectives make noooooooo sense. The Green node is just impossible. Ok some samut may handle it but not in many scenarios. Overall....meeeh?

Elephant in the room. Would people still be enjoying this event as much if they couldn’t just cycle for some of the wins? Make us play the tribal cards, not just avoid using them to fulfill objectives. I’m sure once you see a logjam of perfect scores or -5 in the top ranks, maybe people will agree cycling is the problem. Haven’t seen much of Omni in this event. I know...wrong thread Bken

Is anybody else experience numerous crashes on match start? I already had 3 of those and one crash while I was tipping one of those new minus-support ...

    @adman149

I personally have no cycling decks in this event.  I'm also not flawless, either, however...  -60 at the moment...

I agree that some objectives for the clans / mechanics of this set could / should rotate in.

The "Kill 5 in less than 10 turns" is achievable, but hard.  I'm using Kiora with Turn to Frog, the Dagger, and lots of mana ramp with the objective of beating the opponent in the last rounds with a 7th or 8th round giant octopus. I also have the bouncing merfolk that I use to kill the tokens I'm giving Greg.  No cycling there.  Have missed the kill 5 objective a time or two, but made the less than 10 turns each time.

I actually had another bug, being unable to rearrange nor exile cards in my hand.

About ixalan cards, its better if the secundaries do not rely only on them ... Some players have almost no cards from the set ... Some players may have pulled only useless ones ... If the set had been designed better that could have made sense though.

You’re kinda making my point for me right there. You didn’t go the cycling route and are -60. And I applaud you for that. But I’ve run into way too many decks that happen to have a very high score in the event and one of the first cards the AI plays is Drake Haven. I don’t need to see much more than that to know what is being played. I don’t think every high score is guilty of this because I know some of them to be very good players. But it stroked my curiosity about what this event would look like if you had to cast pirates, merfolk, and dinosaurs. Not much room for cycling decks in that type of landscape.

But -60 has me in top 50 ranking (top 2%), so not getting everything is suddenly OK again...  Unlike when AMK first hit and cycling did force us all to need 100% to have a chance....

I would argue life total objectives should never be used until this (very old) bug is addressed. Why should we have to deal with bugged objectives?

My thoughts on the fact that the new cards are not too useful is a reflection on the poor set design, not the event design. Making an event where the tribes get a boost but are not 100% required to meet the objectives is a pretty interesting idea. If you have the cards from this set it helps, if not you can still get there with older cards.

If they take one other common request and change these objectives every time the event runs we have a new challenge every week!

The feedback I’ve seen from early players is they didn’t have the crystals stockpiled to plunge into getting the Mavrens or Hostage Takers of the set.

Points for a win without objectives is a problem for the newer players though.  I can agree we should get ribbons for winning without meeting what used to be optiona objectives.

I also think the biggest blow to all of us is the end of progression rare card rewards. This should have come down to silver and maybe even bronze rather than having this taken away from gold and platinum. Maybe taking out the individual placement rares is an equalizer but the basic progression one doesn’t fit that narrative.
