That's how dumb he is. Most teams can be screwed by a bad initial board, but not Gambit. In PvP, the only reliable way to beat him is with your own Gambit. That's the definition of OP.
Curiosity said: JFC, just fought him at 0/0/5 with Spider Gwen.So within 6 turns I was one character down and in permanent stun lock. Her pink stun works stupidly well with him. Not sure I can counter that in 4* Land.so I vote nerf on the battery.

Sooner or later it will happen to gambit too, the trouble is so many people have got comfortable with their thanos panther team a new meta upsets them. Power creep is just part of the game. Its a long game, sooner or later they will bring someone out to address the concerns of vultures being airborne and a gambit counter will come out.In a few weeks the complaint will be about someone else. Yes his 5 black is utterly broken, that I agree with.
Ok, I'm going to chime in on this one. I have a 6 cover Gambit (3/2/1) and played with him extensively when he was featured in PVE. I soft-capped him at 345, as I suspect I'll be able to cover him completely without real problems within a month or so.
Yeah, he's OP. I've fought him enough in PVP to learn to just plain avoid him, even with Panthos. After the third turn he starts spamming his red pretty much every turn (sometimes he gets to skip a turn,) and does big damage as well as generating some random AP. His purple is less of a threat, but makes it really hard to counter him with certain characters like Hawkeye. He's virtually unstoppable unless you can stun or down him quickly.
Playing my own version was kind of interesting, though. Since I had a cover in all his colors I had red and purple locked out, but since I only have 1 black he didn't generate much AP (1 purple/turn.) It allowed me to come to the following conclusions.
- His Red is still damn good even without being fed by the black. Combine him with Bolt and he generates a hell of lot of AP and damage. If he is not fed, I don't think it's OP, but it's a solid power.
- His purple is fairly mediocre without being fed. It's not awful, but it's a bit expensive for what it does if you have to generate the AP yourself. It's great for mitigating enemy specials, though. Mine was fed, but only a little.
So my opinion is that it's the black that's the real problem - it makes his purple go from "meh" to solidly awesome and his red go from excellent to Oh-my-tinykitty-what-is-that-thing. I think if they're going to change him, they should change the black entirely. Let's face facts - it's a problematic and boring power as it is.
I do think if they change it to a different power then purple will be underpowered - possibly they can make some kind of purple generator? Or better yet, make it be an active (but cheap, maybe 6 ap?) generator of charged tiles - start with say purple, then do black, and finally do red since the red is already really good. This way his black lets his red feed the purple, and gives it the boost it needs to be good.
In the absence of a purple-generating power I think the cost should be lowered a point or two.
