Known Issue: Event and App Loading Issues (8/29/17)

Hi Everyone,

Some of you might be noticing either a "Something Went Wrong" error, or a continuous loading screen, when attempting to load into an event or the app itself. We are aware of this issue, and are currently investigating to determine how to alleviate it.

Once we have a better idea of what's going, and how to address it, I will update this post. Thank you for everyone's patience.

    Update: Players should now be able to load the application, as well as join events. If you are still unable to do so, please wait a few minutes before trying again, as the fix may still be in the process of propagating to all devices.

    @Brigby the problem have started to reappear this morning. Same loading forever then something went wrong.

    Hitting the retry button keeps bringing up the Something went wrong.  Hitting the Cancel button, however, seems to allow it to continue.

    It isn't as bad as it was, but it is still an issue

    Still can't enter training grounds. Something went wrong. Even after force-close the app and restart. @Brigby

    Have you tried force closing, then restarting your application? If so, try hitting Cancel instead of Retry, like Steeme suggested.

    @Steeme
    Thanks for the help! Do you notice that prevents it from popping up again, or do you find you have to hit Cancel each time?

    @ElimGarak
    Are you only unable to enter Training Grounds, or is it all events?

    I have not been able to get the app to load at all this morning.  It times/errors out during it's initial connect "Checking Connection".  Phone has been rebooted as well.

    Android in Eastern US if that makes any difference.

    I tried everything. I did finally succeeded to get in. And yes it's not as bad as it was yesterday but still a problem. However couple of hours later app seems more stable and doesn't produce that error

    I've only gotten the Something went wrong a few times this morning.  Clicking retry keeps it stuck in that state.  Clicking Cancel allows it to continue.

    It seems like something is triggering an exception on the server, but it's at a point where my match has been complete already so nothing gets lost.  Clicking Cancel just makes it give up on the current request and refresh the event screen.

    Just logged in now to test it out, got into training grounds, played a full match, completed successfully.  No error.

    If you're encountering the "Something Went Wrong" error after it times/errors out at that stage, please try selecting Cancel.

    @Hesturk @Steeme
    I'm glad to hear that it's gradually getting more and more stable. Hopefully there aren't any more encounters in the future, but please let us know if you do end up getting the error message later on, and I can inform the rest of the team. Thanks!

    There's no "Cancel" option.

    Other apps that require connections appear to be functioning normally.

    No worries.  I'm in no rush.

    It appears to be only training grounds, I could join HoR. @Brigby

    Hmm...that's peculiar that it's happening for random people at random areas in the app. I'll pass this information along to the team right now, so they can investigate further. Thanks for being so patient everyone!

    I would not have posted but the "something went wrong" error actually created a loss for me in Hour of Devastation. Unfortunate.

    It started on the evening of the 8/29 (Korean standard time, KST). There were intermittent "something went wrong" errors for approximately 8 hours (start time being roughly 7-8PM KST). Did not think too much of it as it resolved itself after 1-2 clicks of the retry button. I do not recall if I restarted my phone, but I did clean my cache. Also I am unaware of how long I had the app running in the background (as sometimes having the app running in the background for an extended period of time, regardless of the app self-logging me back in, causes this error on occassion). Then at approximately 4:44AM (8/30 now), a coalition member stated they couldn't log in. It affected me as well as 4-5 other members. I do not recall the end time exactly but it persisted for over an hour, everyone assumed it was an update. I had no issues, until approximately 8/31 4AM in which one or two error messages were seen but resolved without any issues. Then 4:18AM, as I started the a match in the green node, the error message reappeared, attempts at the retry/cancel or the "back button" on my S6 andriod edge did not resolve the issue (sometimes the "back button" would cause resolution without issue in the recent past). I force quit my app, cleared my cache, restarted my phone, cleared my cache again and haven't had issues.

    What was really peculiar was that I have not seen a start match error in a very long time. It is usually after completing a match if anything. This last instance, only affected me and there is a high possibility that it was due to my app running for an extended period of time. I cannot confirm. I probably should have restarted my phone when the first 1-2 errors started appearing but with the improvements in the reduction of error messages as well as points still counting even in the event of error messages after a match, I took a risk and.. I felt lazy..

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

    My issue resolved itself eventually.  Oddly it seemed tied to my location in a manner I don't quite understand.  It worked again when I went home for the evening and accessed from there.  Weirdly, MTGPQ was the only thing "broken" while around the workplace.  As mentioned other apps/browsers/etc were working fine at the time.  This morning it appears to be functioning while at the workplace again.  So I have no idea what exactly was going on there.

    HoR does seem to have an inordinate amount of issues doesn't it

    something went wrong again just now. I don't remember how many points got ripped off by server issue. lame

    Edit: you know what? 2 more nodes went wrong and 14 more ribbons gone! @Brigby it is frustrating.

    @Brigby I'm still getting this error, and it's particularly frustrating when it happens after I've just finished a match. Hitting the "cancel" button takes me to the event page, but does not provide me with the points won. This error has cost me the top 25 positions for a few times already. Very disappointed.
