So how exactly do event decks work, then? Do you only get one event deck per event? And why are they timing out before the end of the event? And why were they changed at all?

It's very difficult for me to be outraged about things when I don't even know how they work properly. How about some instructions? Some games features instructions!
You will be able to "unlock" instructions in the future update!

The one day timer is no good.  I set my event decks yesterday for HoR, then had to rebuild them again this morning.  I expect to rebuild again tomorrow.

Echoing other players - the event decks are a huge step backwards in PVE.  The developers should try them out and see what they think.  The deficiency is fairly obvious.

Still don't like them, but at least in Fateful Showdown it's not quite as bad as I thought. Each individual PW remembers their Event Deck, it's just that you can only 'select' one PW at a time for the whole event. But if you choose a PW you used already for a new node, their deck is remembered still.

Now, this is a) not logical at all, and b) annoying if you're using the same PW with different decks for different nodes

edit: The verdict is in.  This is horrible.  Event slots in PVE are completely unusable.  They might as well not exist, because functionally, they don't.

They are problematic when it comes to story mode. Now if I want to edit a deck for a specific heroic challenge for example, I have to edit one of the default decks. There is no "event deck" slot there, and I cannot edit a deck once I have it in place anymore. Complicates even further when it comes to sideboarding.
So.... no, I do not like the way this was implemented. Sorry
The Event Deck slot is only available when you are playing an event, therefore Story Mode will not have that deck slot shown.
Indeed, in essence this hasn't changed. But playwise, now I have to edit one of my "permanent" deck slots, instead of the more handy alternative that I had before of using them as starting points, namely:
    - Open deck selection on specific challenge
    - Assign planeswalker with template deck
    - Open deck that is now copied-assigned as "challenge" deck
    - Edit the copy onto the challenge at hand

Now I can no longer do that, because any alternations directly edit my custom deck in place globally for the planeswalker (there's no "copy" anymore assigned to the challenge). This is very annoying and goes backwards in terms of usability.

I only noticed the silly counter after I started playing. Why put a time limit on them in the first place? Either they hold permanently, or thorough the duration of the event => hence I see absolutely no difference between the old and new way of using them, rendering this "cool feature" totally useless.

I waited till the "weekend event" to have a complete view of the new system.

And it is a lot worse than the old one. Not being to assign different decks fir different nodes using the same pw is basically going back to what we had before this feature was created.

I have nothing against the new UI. Just how it's working.

Please go back to the old system

    There is no neutral option
So we're back to a limit of one deck per Planeswalker per event.

They must have metrics showing nobody was buying their extra deck slots.  I can't see why they would go backwards on the way event decks work otherwise.

    This is a bad change.

Well, I also waited until this event until I finally made up my mind:

When the old-old system was a 3 on a scale 1-10, and the system active until last week an 8, this is a 4.
    Back to meh.

    Agreed. This is confusing thing.

Hate it... Hate it... Hate it...  Previously it kept my PW and deck when I played a node the second time through.  I changed it for a different node and then the deck used the one I created for a different node.  resulting in a loss of extra points because now I have the wrong deck for the node.   The whole point was to not have to change the deck every time... now I do again!  c'mon.

You realise why they've done this, of course, don't you.

It's because even tho everyone loved the Event deck slots, they weren't buying individual deck slots for each PW.

Obviously none of the devs play this game.  This was a terrible change.
it was great last week now I have to rebuild EVERY SINGLE NODE.
    Please change it back.

Because the individual deck slots were (are) obnoxiously overpriced. But you hit the nail on the head with your evaluation as far as I'm concerned. It's like when they started giving us mythics as rewards, then they realized that was too good for us and took those away again. Event decks are the new mythics.

Edit: And now we get to deal with the mad deck swapping on a 4 hr timer instead. How does everyone like their 4 hr refreshes now?

Well, yknow. Power creep is at such stupid levels now you can probably do the whole event with a single deck. Three, tops.

First time using the wrong deck on the third node! Yeah ! Thick thumbs. At least I have enough planeswalkers to just assign one per node.. All I need to remember is who's where

    Yeah, this is irritating.

@brigby just to clarify what we're saying, since perhaps this is not intended functionality:

Previously, if we chose a deck for a specific node, it would remain there until we changed it. For example, here's a sample two-node event:

    1.1 - Nahiri
    1.2 - Nahiri
    1.3 - Saheeli

    2.1 - Dovin
    2.2 - Dovin
    2.3 - Kiora

Let's say we play them in order. After finishing 2.3, and going back to repeat the cycle, the deck I had previously used would still be there. Which seemed like the intended functionality.

Now, however, after the change, if I end 2.3 on Kiora, and then try to play 1.1 or 2.1, guess what deck is there? Kiora. Not Nahiri or Dovin. This necessitates us reloading our event deck constantly.

Anyway, not sure if this is intentional, or a bug, but it defeats the purpose of having event decks if we're just selecting from our stored decks anyway.

Adding to this example.  When you revisit 1.1, and you select Nahiri, you get the last used (1.2) Nahiri deck, which you then have to rebuild.

I wish I could change my vote (I voted, stupidly, before the weekend event, wrongly assuming the change would not screw over that event). After the weekend event, the new event decks are just worse. You either have to use the same deck for each walker throughout all 3 nodes, or you have use 9 different walkers, or you have edit the deck each time. It is in no way an upgrade.
