As far as I can tell, Event decks were the part about deck slots that everyone really liked.

So this change isn't going to be popular, is it.

Are they serious with this?  I can no longer bring in my basic deck and tweak it to include zombies or embalm or whatever the objective?  Now I either have to create it from scratch or edit my deck permanently.  Seems like a really awful change to me.

The change they SHOULD have implemented, was letting you customize a deck for an event (say Trials of the Planeswalkers or Fateful Showdown) and then use the same deck on every node.

What kind of crack brain idea was this?

Hi Everyone. Apologies for the confusion. I am reaching out to the developers right now to find out what is going on. I will update everyone once I get a reply.

    @Brigby

Please let them know that this is a huge step backwards from the way things were before the update. The first iteration of deck slots worked fantastically, in the sense that it let you port a pre-constructed deck into the event, which you could then tweak as necessary without changing the original copy of the deck. I won't get into the inability to rename the chase decks; that's another subject entirely.

But there was literally no reason to change the functionality of deck slots. And if it was done in an effort to force people to purchase deck slots (which I'm sure you can't reveal to us, even if you are privy to that knowledge), your developers are well and truly out of touch with their playerbase.

There is an option to port an existing deck into the event deck slot.  Right next to the green arrow is another button that does just that.  You can even edit the event deck.  At least for fateful showdowns it also carries over the planeswalker from the previous node as well as the event deck which seems to be what people wanted.  I selected one deck to start and havent changed it yet.

well, I just hope it doesn't do the same thing at coalition PVE events.. I will certainly not enjoy to re-build everything on each fight.

Erm... Ok I think I need to redact my previous post... I now see that there is a little icon under your custom decks that allow you to move an existing deck to the Event Deck.  You can then edit it here.  This is actually an ok change.. but not really different from what we could do before...

... So what, we've jumped the gun AGAIN with negative reactions to non-existant features?

    oops :)

Ahh I see. Yes. Those icons underneath your existing decks will allow you to use them as your Event Deck. Here I was worried those icons weren't working, or the design had changed unexpectedly.

Glad to hear that players are still able to use custom decks as event decks.

I still don't see the benefit of this. Everyone was fine the way it was!

Currently better because it kept all the good things and now the event deck persists.

Basically the best from old and new format.

I'm waiting for the weekend event to double check that it still functions in the desired fashion before making any judgement.

I will reserve judgement until the weekend events.  In Trial of Zeal, I would often use Sorin for 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 but 3.3 would have a vastly different deck because of the secondary objectives.  If this is no longer possible then it will be a definite step backwards.

While it looks like they are building upon the deck slot feature, I see no net benefit right now.

They need to take this one step further, and "remember" your decks from the last time you played the same event.

Then the player can start with what they used to have, and keep it, tweak it or replace it based on prior performance and any new cards obtained since.

If totp is of any indication, looks that way.

Like the new feature button where you can make one of your standard decks an event deck

They are problematic when it comes to story mode. Now if I want to edit a deck for a specific heroic challenge for example, I have to edit one of the default decks. There is no "event deck" slot there, and I cannot edit a deck once I have it in place anymore. Complicates even further when it comes to sideboarding.
So.... no, I do not like the way this was implemented. Sorry

I did story mode just last week.

There was no event deck for story mode, was there?

In theory this is a great idea. In practice, playing Fateful Showdown is now super annoying because there's only a single event deck for the whole event. So if I'm moving down the list, I keep having to replace the deck, but then if I want to go back and try and get some more points from a previous fight, I'll have to recreate that deck from memory. Previously, each fight saved the PW + deck you chose. Annoying step backwards.

Confusing.  Agree with previous post... I liked before when each fight kept its PW... If I decided to go back to it the PW I used on it last was still there and I just had to tweak it.   It was almost as annoying to have to build a new deck each time but since every fight has a different requirement 25% of the nodes I use different PW's anyway.

I'm still annoyed that you can't tweak decks in the Story Line and not affect your main deck.  Any changes made to the deck aren't temporary so I have to go back and fix my decks after playing the story line.
