Okay, nice. Yeah, the speed is what I was wondering about. I tend to get attacked really quickly when I shield-hop and Thor/Cap have always seemed slow to me. On the other hand, with boosts I suppose it's pretty fast to get them going especially if you can take out Hood early and keep him from stealing any AP.

Ah, yes. They were $2,400 and 8 hours worth of pure suckage. Should find out the results in about 3 months, but they were an altogether miserable experience.

Glad to hear it, glad to hear it! Were you thinking that you were paying $300/hr for that pain as you went through it, or did you just focus on the lump sum of pain? I know the feeling of the suckage, every time I get sent back to sea, I have to slog through a minimum of 10 hours of certification exams before I can re-qualify. They are three exams with MINIMUM time limits, two 4 hour exams and a 2 hour exam, normally takes about 6, 6, and 4 hours to complete, followed by a few oral boards which are 2, 2, and 1 hours to complete. And I've had to do this 6 times in my career, 7th coming up in a few weeks. So believe me when I say, I feel your pain.

As some of you might already know, and those reactions in chat were priceless from those not coordinating, we have now a casual/feeder alliance currently called Spandex Force. (This was my old alliance and I checked on them from time to time to see how everything was going but found out they basically stopped playing. Yes, all of them.) So earlier today or late yesterday depending on when everyone went to bed there was a conversation about expanding/creating a new alliance so that we could check out prospects for the inevitable retirements that happen from time to time. People were going back and forth about whether it would be a waste of 2,500 to start one or whether to make another account on a different smart device.

That's when I chimed in that I knew of a free 20 slot alliance that was dead that we could expand, take over, and turn into the feeder one for us. Talked it over with the commanders and they didn't care anymore as they dropped the game months ago so it was made private and all the players not commanders were kicked for inactivity. Beast made a temp account on Steam to be the new temp commander while we figure out someone we all can trust to run it full time. And we will submit a CS ticket to change the name and drop the commanders as one of them had their dog eat the tablet so can no longer log on. This will be good in case someone has to go on vacation, birth of a child, illness, or any other real life issues and they can just drop into the casual one until everything is back to normal.

What we need are ideas on the name of the alliance as no one will take Spandex Force seriously. There is a limit on characters, so far 14 to 15 is max, but could be 16 if we are lucky.

Also there is a debate on what the standards should be. I was thinking about 500 points in PvP minimum to at least get the 2* progression cover and I believe that is the minimum amount of effort to achieve top 100 status. However 600 would be better as they would have to be able to jump in to temp for any one of us at a moments notice. Also top 100 for PvE would be necessary to ensure everyone can get the new release covers.

Also we have had to say goodbye to quite a few great teammates over the seasons who never had any performance issues but got burned out or real life happened and that was disappointing. Now they have the opportunity to stay within the alliance and play a more easy path than usual. I think this will help morale knowing that you can stay within the family and this makes things less cutthroat overall as many people have applied to be a part of this alliance but space is at a premium.

Fun fact: If we weren't on people's radar before you tinykitty well expect to get attacked now because of this. Expansion is what is hated because it makes top 100 so hard to attain and retain that another competitive alliance is going to set some others on the bubble off. That is the difference from 4* Thor and a token next season.

The feeder alliance sounds awesome. I'm a Doom fan so I like the Latveria reference, but also Dormammu State clearly associates it with us.

I like Dormammu Prep and Hood High, but I admit I'm partial to the ones that start with Dormammu as like IronMan said, they clearly associate with us.

I think as a feeder/break alliance, we should have lower participation goals. I would suggest to start that we don't actually have an enforced minimum, but when we get to recruiting for it we state a goal amount. I was thinking 400-500.

I also think we should reserve at least one slot in that alliance at all times. We initially started the discussion seeking a way to preview someone's roster, an empty slot would allow this. As well, reserving a slot would give someone a place to drop to when RL things happen.

Ads-Jack is still playing and responded to my PM last night, he wants to join the sister alliance, so I gave him the name and am just waiting on him to join. I believe we have our first new member!

I also agree, we will have to figure out the communication angle. I'll leave it to the young-uns, as it was definitely pointed out last night I'm the oldest in our group, and I may have trouble with all this newfangled technology and stuff...

I kinda like Latveria State. We could organize under the Villains Consortium or League. Just like Ivy or PAC 10 or other collegiate orgs.

If we would ever want to add more (probably won't happen but whatever), it would also be easier to come up with new names than if we stuck exclusively with the Dormammu label.


I agree that 400-500 is a good place to start. I really think that having explicit expectations from members is a good idea. It allows for objective criteria for evaluating (and if necessary, kicking) members. Leaves less room for misunderstandings & drama.

My only concern with having too high of a minimum is if someone needs to take a break for real life reasons. It makes little sense to drop to the feeder team if the points requirement is the same. It's not much of a break.

I like the 500 minimum, since it's a feeder alliance folks would at least need to be getting the 2 * progression. That said I also don't think we'd need to enforce it as strongly as we do the main alliance. If folks are in the 400s on a sister alliance I'm not sure we have to immediately bounce them or anything. Encourage them to get to 500, if they're in the ball park that'll be working.

The more I think about the name the more I like the Dormammu reference. Whatever we follow it with is fine, but I think that reference will gather more attention than the University motif. Both are good though, it's a good problem to have.

Also need ideas on effective cross-alliance communication, I personally would like to steer clear of using FaceBook as many would like to keep their private lives separate from their forum presence. I keep hearing about the Line app, but know absolutely nothing about it. Looked real quick in the App store, and it appeared to just be txt messages and voice calls, but that can't be how the other alliances are using it... If anyone knows, please educate me!

Also, I think the above are our realistic choices for a name so far. We should probably vote or something, I'd make a poll if we could do that in the middle of a thread, but meh. Rank your top 3 in a post and we will see where it ends up, and then we will present PorkBelly with the results for consideration. If you feel something in that list should be changed or added, PM me and I'll edit this post.
