A short note to all members:

First of all, yes, we are a competitive alliance. We all want to place highly in each event, and of course we all joined an alliance to increase the awards we receive.

Having said that, we hold a few other things valuable as well. We strive to be a friendly alliance, as most of you have seen through the in game chat. We specifically did not put requirements on rosters to be considered for membership. It is our opinion that nearly everyone has the ability to contribute in all event. As a matter of fact, with scaling in PVE and MMR in PVP, the only thing limiting the ability to contribute equally is specific character requirements for some event nodes. Some have more experience than others, and we strive to share insights to the betterment of all. If you have questions, ask. If it is not a simple short question, It is often easier to ask here, as posts do not scroll beyond the screen and can solicit input from all.

Most importantly, we realize that people have lives outside this game, and occasionally events happen in these lives that can disrupt a member's ability to contribute. Again, we have not placed minimum point generation limits on continued membership. We want to form a lasting alliance, and the best way to accomplish this is to treat each other with respect and understanding. All we ask is when events happen, let one of the Commanders know. We don't necessarily need to know your specifics, but let us know you will not be around much, and if known, when you plan on being back full force. One additional thing, if it is possible, attempt to quickly log into the game once per day and compete a quick and easy fight. This will help everyone. You will secure your daily reward, and reap the daily alliance ISO, as well as contribute to the next day's alliance ISO amount. If that is not possible, we understand.

Lastly, we all want to have fun. If this begins to feel like a second job, you will just get frustrated and eventually want to quit. Drop a line here, we will discuss what is going on. There may someday be events the alliance will skip, or more likely not push hard for. If we all decide we need a break, if we all communicate, we will emerge stronger and more ready for the next fight. The last thing we want is to burnout half the members through a 'Heroic Hunt' style event.

I've said my piece, please feel free to comment, discuss, or disagree.

Just wanted to pop in an link to this guide to PvE strategy.

I was planning on writing a whole series of pages but someone else (thanks eddiemon!) had pretty much done it for me already. So, if you're ever questioning the best timing, what is going to drive up your scaling, etc., the link below is where to get those answers

    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5304

If one of our resident PvP killers like entrailbucket would be interested in putting something similar together for PvP, I think several alliance members (myself included as someone who rarely cracks 750 in PvP) would find it helpful.

BTW, I also wholeheartedly endorse Beast1970's above post.

    See you in the game

I have thought that several times after seeing you on the boards.

And generally, I see you guys neck and neck with us in the alliance rankings.

This is now officially my second-favorite alliance. Good luck to you guys; may your top 100 finishes and 3* covers be plentiful.

Just wanted to pop in and say "great work" regarding yesterday.

That purple c mags is going to flesh out a number of people's rosters.

And it was a lot of fun chatting in-game during the last few crunch hours of the Hunt (so glad it's over) & the Doom tourney.

Right, PVP stuff...I left some notes in chat but I can put together something bigger.

I didn't really figure out PVP until after the devs made some matchmaking changes recently...matchmaking is now MUCH more based on your point total than on your win-loss record, which is really good for those of us who had really high win-loss records. I had stopped doing any tanking a long time ago because I thought it was super boring, and all my matches after seed teams were 3x level 141's for a few months. Since the change I see much much more diversity and it's like 1000x easier to place well, mostly because I can find 2* or non-max 3* teams at all point levels.

    Anyway, a couple of tips:

    - Find two heroes that you have well covered and level them as high as you can. Extra points if they work well together! The idea here is that the vast majority of the time you're only going to need two heroes in PVP. You'll usually be given the third if you don't have them. If you have the third hero at a high level it's a bonus, but most of the time it won't matter too much if your main team works, and it especially won't matter if your main two can combo. Also try to pick heroes that work better overall (ie don't pick Yelena and Bag-Man as your PVP team). Check the giant character rankings post for suggestions.

    - Understand that having a good team (even max 3*!) (seriously. even max 4*!) actually has very little impact on being attacked in PVP. The secret that doesn't become apparent until you have a high level team of your own is that any good team can beat any other good team like 99% of the time. Most high-scoring players will only skip you if you're not worth many points. No team is scary on defense.

    - The overall goal strategy-wise is to minimize the time you're worth a lot of points and available to attack, while also scoring a bunch of points and not spending 1000+ HP on shields. To do this, you want to be playing and winning as many matches for as many points as you possibly can in short bursts, then shielding immediately when you're done. Playing in bursts minimizes the time when people can see you. Even if you can't afford to shield between all of your pushes, popping a 3 hour shield right after you push will probably cause most of the retaliations from the matches you just played to bounce off your shield.

    - Time your bursts when most people are not playing. Since most players are in the USA, you want to be playing when they're at work or sleeping. Other good times include weekend mornings (gamers like to sleep in). Avoid the first and last 3-5 hours of any tournament, this time tends to be the most active. Also, now that most of the game has figured out shielding, most people make a big push with around 3 hours to go, then shield for the last 3 hours. If you can afford it, push 8 hours out and use the 8 hour shield to avoid the "3 hours left" scrum.

    - Below about 500 points, you don't lose as many points when you're attacked. Use this to your advantage...there's no need to shield until after you cross that threshold.

    - Don't retaliate against people with fewer points than you. *Do* retaliate against people with more points than you, and *especially* retaliate against people with more points than you that repeatedly retaliate against you. This is one of the fastest ways to score a ton of points.

Anyway, tl;dr: Have a team that can win on offense, ignore defense, play at weird times, score bunches of points at a time, make sure you're never a juicy target.
  • Hi all,

Sorry for taking so long to join the forum chat, I didn't realize we had one on the forums. I was out of town for the past and wasn't able to get on much, but will try and pull my weight now that i am back. I'll also make sure to send out an update the next time I'm away.

    Hey!

Thanks for chiming in. I appreciate it. Solid points today, btw.

And definitely PM one of the commanders (our forum names are the same as in game) if you're going to be away for a bit.
  • Hey guys. Been reading the forums awhile, first time posting. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the alliance. I am a doctor in residency, so my schedule can get pretty busy, but I will contribute best I can. I currently have maxed out my 2 star covers (except I still need one more red wolvie since the nerf), and am slowly raising my 3 stars. I am also trying to adjust my strategies to maximize my PVP points.

Looking forward to working with y'all!
  • Hi all. Just joined up. I'm able to play and chat daily but more so Wednesday thru Saturday since I work 3 twelve hour shifts Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Glad to be part of a good alliance.

    Hey everyone-

Just made a very basic alliance graphic for the boards until we get a better one

You can link to this image, if you'd like

    How's this or too much?

    It's cool but too big.

There is a pixel size limit & you don't want to slow down page loading too much either.

I like the idea but it would definitely have to smaller & cleaner to be a sig.

Really like the dormammu image as well.

Great graphic, I agree it needs to be resized as well. PorkBelly, what size is the image you created?

Just found the size limit. Posted by IceIX in the news and announcements forum, size limit is 700x125.
  • K resized so we shall see how it looks as a sig

Also tried to do another with size constraints in mind : 157c6qr.jpg

What size are those? They appear smaller than the one PorkBelly posted. I would say at that size, the text in the one in your body might be better red, or something with a bit more contrast. Your original image, perhaps take a bit off the top, move the figure right some? I know that would cut off the over image, but I'm assuming your source graphic was both the main and ghosted image together and as such they are not independently adjustable.

Having said all that, both are very cool. When you are done with tweaks and they are ready, could I ask you to post the URL, I'm using an iPad which prevents me from right clicking to obtain the URL. Hopefully I'll get my computer unpacked and set up, won't be an issue then.
