  • Any idea how to handle this PvE? All my nodes are 200 plus guys.

Altlover pretty much summed it up for you. Its not about killing fast, its about controll.

Normal hawkeye can acctualy be good for goons. Make tiles drop to the same row, then take them all out. Also, his crit tile can help as well.

Also, if a low damaging goon tile that destroys a row is about to go off, use that to your advantage.

Identify tiles. Some are not that dangerous. Focus on dangerous stuff.

But, if you are facing 200+ goons with your roster, well... you are dead icon_e_confused.gif

Have you been grinding down the nodes?
Try to just make one clear and then leave it for a while. Rubberbanding will catch you up and scaling should not be so bad.
Thats what im doing and i have yet to see a goon above 180.

    Gl mate

they jump up before i touch them
  • Me, that sucks mate.

Not sure what do do about it. Did you grind hard in the last event?

I know scaling has been a big talk here on the forums.

Personally i have never had a problem with it. I rarely see guys above 200 doing as i described.
  • I did in the last pvp but I had been tanking most of the Lighting Rounds. I would get 100 pts and then put my **** team in. I think the main problem is I am on that border of my 2* passing my 1* team so I am seeing a few harder missions. Not getting anywhere in the "Best there......" PVP. Right now I am in the 118 spot in the PVE but really think I want to drop back to the 200 range by the end to grab the Ares cover anyways.
  • Alright, here it is. My guide to pvp. This is what i have learned during my 3 months playing this game, both by trial and error and also from reading these forums.
It might not work every time, but i can almost guarantee a higher score overall in pvp.

Ill go over it in steps, trying to explain why i do stuff, and why it works.
Hopefully this will help some of you and you can get covers quicker.

    NR 1: TANKING

For the longest time i ignored tanking, figuring it was not as good as stated. I have never been more wrong.
Tanking is godlike. I still don't like the concept behind it, but since most, or atleast alot of players do it, so do i, cause in the end, i wants more covers.
Tanking, if you did not know it's meaning, is losing on purpose in pvp to get lower mmr. Mmr is your hidden ranking that sticks with you wherever you go. Meaning you can play two tornaments at the same time, and you Will have the same mmr in both of them. It goes up if you win, pitting you against harder teams. Losing drops your mmr and you Will face lesser teams.
What i have noticed is that your mmr goes up alot slower than it goes down. Meaning you wont have to lose as many fights as you win in order to lower it.
There are two ways to tank.
1: put in a tank team and let other players beat you up.
2: retreating out of fights, retreating counts as a loss.
Both have their pros and cons.

1: fight a couple of fights to get some points, then win the last fight with **** team you can.
The team you won your last fight with is the team others Will see in matchmaking. You want a team that's easy to beat so players Will do that. The good about this is you can drop your mmr with relatively little work. The bad...you might not get hit many times, making it a waste.

2: this is by far the method i suggest. It almost breaks the game, making alot of fights trivial in the beginning.
Enter the shield simmulator. Start a fight with your **** dudes and the retreat immideatly out. You can do this four Times' if your chars where at Max health from the start. When they are dead, repeat with the next threesome untill you are satisfied, or your entire roster is dead.
The bad. It Will take some of your time, and it's not very fun.
The good. Guaranteed mmr drops. I can make it so i fight 1* lvl 12 teams.

Be aware though. When you reach a certain point threshhold, your mmr Will count for **** and most players Will see you.
It's usually fairly high up, say 700-800 points, so don't go there to early in a tornament if you don't intend to shield.

Also, since you are mostly fighting lesser teams, the risk for retaliations is smaller since your team is better and proves a danger.

    2: timing.

Don't join a tornament straight away when it starts. Those brackets tend to be full of nolifers, hardcore players that grind up the points way to high for our liking. You want to find a nice, casual bracket, with a bunch of players who don't care as much, and the show them who is boss!
Join at wierd hours, this you have to find out for yourself wich hours works best for you.
And remember, all you have to do is play One match to be put in a bracket. You don't have to commit to the grind straight away. I usually play One match before I'm of to work, then leave it there till i make my push.

    3: when do i push?
I always shield. You should too. An eight hour shield costs 150hp. It's Worth it.
I play a bit differently. Sometimes i do nothing and then play like a madman till I'm happy.
But usually i do this. Play One time to be put in a bracket. The when i feel like it, i climb to 300-400 and leave it there.
10 hours before the tornament enda is usually when i make my push. If i have any nice retaliations i do them then keep going. I break the 8 hour time barrier and if I'm happy, i shield. If not, i keep going.
I usually never play during the last 3 hours since i find it's way to many players playing and the risk for retaliations is way greater.
Play when everyone Else is sleeping, eating or doing lightning rounds. The more ppl ignore you, the more points you Will have. And when they start retaliating, you are already shielded and wont lose any points.

4:bravo. If you read all this I'm proud of you.
Also, i wrote this on the damned iPad, so autocorrect can go and die.
English is not my first language and i don't have the time to correct myself. You probably know what i mean anyway.
If not, i can type this in Swedish and you can just translate it. icon_twisted.gif

    Hope i helped some atleast.

If i remember correctly your roster has no effect on scaling or mmr. It's only preformance based.
You are simply to good icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Think I have a short term plan of attack at the current time. Seeing there are a few covers I could use and it seems like a place to grind some ISO I will split my time between the PVE event and using the Shield training as a spot to lvl up. Then if we need point on the back end of the Wolvie PVP I will try to grind a little on it. Unless everyone here thinks that Wolverine event is more important.
  • We should be able to snag the cap alliance cover easily me thinks, no need to sweat it right now.

Grind, feed, get fat, prevail, world dominion, rule supreme!
  • An update:

Couldn't wait and ended up starting the wolverine tournament. Currently at 310pts and I'm going to hold at this level for a bit. Trying to grind out some points in the red-iso pve but not doing very well. I've only got about 17K and can't seem to climb up. It's the price I'm paying for getting the three black widow covers instead of LazyCap covers. I hope to finish high enough in the wolverine tournament to get a Cap cover and make up some ground with rubberbanding later.

Also, got another OBW cover from the super soldier token at 15k putting her at 2/5/5. Having a tough time deciding between putting iso into OBW or wolverine. I think Black Widow is helping more even though wolverine is powered up. Pvp has been mostly a cake walk with Ares-Wolverine-OBW since Ares' damage is ridiculous and i'm abusing OBW's 2 AP-stealing abilities like crazy.

Obw all the way. Max her. She Will still be usefull even after you have a roster of tre stars. Trust me on this
  • Quick update from me. I'm currently at 463 points in best there is. Will lurk there untill i make my push sometime tomorrow.
Will be going for that Green IW. Seems i might have lucked out and found myself a nice sleeping bracket.
I'm currently second with Top sitting at 500ish points.

Sorry didn't keep my stats on the fearless defenders I thought the additional hulk was a distant dream until the by in to the group. (Many thanks all). I did get 3 Obw though. It a shame trading hasn't become an option would have given these to members lacking.

Currently have 18709 rank 121 in unstable ISO event (struggling without a cap)
231 points in the best the is event 78th waiting for the heal to charge to hit it again.

    Happy hunting all!!

Wow Xormar that was an enlightening mouthful. It all makes sense now why I can't hold my top spots for long.
  • I'm currently at 546 in Best There Is and 17885 in Unstable ISO. I'd like the yellow cap cover, but I'm not sure how achievable that is. We'll see how kind rubberbanding and scaling are to me.

    Thanks for the guide Xorm!
  • Sitting at 20462 and 50th place in my bracket. Also at 313 and #62 in the Wolvie tourney.
  • Feeling like the slacker. Got just shy of 18000 in the PvE but cannot break 100pts in the PvP

Don't. You don't have a maxed A. Wolvie, which is the only reason why I'm doing pretty decent in this PvP.

Dis man speaks da truth man
  • Those are some great tips Xormar! I have to try that MMR stuff, I had no idea that's how it worked.

One thing I wish I had discovered earlier: if you join a lightning round in the first couple minutes, you can fight a lot of 'fake' teams that consist of 2 one star heroes and the featured hero all at low levels. In just 10 minutes you can break 100 points, meaning make 1000 ISO (from fight rewards and prizes) and get a recruit token, even if you're just starting out and your roster sucks. Really useful for getting money and covers.
  • Not sure I'm going to break 600 in The Best There Is which is a shame because it's nice when the progression reward is something useful. Every time I get to around 550, I keep getting attacked. Currently holding at 515 which is good enough for 15th right now. Being required to use a wolverine and not being able to pick which one is really gimping my team. Also, I've either got a really tough bracket or more people with endgame rosters are participating because of Lazycap.
