    Most people's opinions here are coming from players who are already well into 3star land.

    As a player who is nearing max 2star territory, I see the role for the Gold Characters. There was no reason for me to skip maxing my 2stars, because even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have the covers to level my lazy Thor or Cap. So even after I got lazy Thor, I still finished maxing my 2star Thor, because he''ll be more powerful for probably at least another month, or more.

    Not everyone has lots of extra HP/ISO to stratagize with. It still makes sense to level the 2stars, because they're the only ones many have enough covers for. And those who have tons of 3stars wouldn't use the 2star versions anyways. Now you have the choice of dropping your 2star version or keeping them around for select events. I see it as similar Modern Widow. Incredibly useful when in 1star land, but then sellable once you've moved beyond. Yes, you can keep her for 1star tournaments, or you can sell her for the slot/ISO.

    The Gold Covers play a role in natural player progression that those well into 3star territory aren't affected by. But it still plays a solid role. I've used maxed Daken/Thor/Cap a lot from my 2stars, and now I want to level their 3star versions so I can continue to use them.

    And yes, as a strong user of both 2star Daken and Cap, there are definitely nuances to strategy that I think a lot of people miss when you have characters that just keep smashing the board till the opponent's gone.

    IceIX has hinted that the next 4* character will be Void, but that might take awhile. See Dark Reign Void for how he fits into Norman Osborn's plans. I really don't know anything about D3's plans, but that page and the Dark Reign storyline suggests a possible MPQ storyline, where the Cabal tries to turn on Osborn. That would give a reason to play Doctor Doom, Ragnarok, Magneto, The Hood, Ares, Loki, Daken, and Bullseye as part of a storyline, and Void / those on his side could be the major opponents. Pure speculation on my part.

    Damn, never made it through the storyline to read up on that guy, how do you even make a card that powerful? Description puts him on par with Galactus level of power. Also kind of seems like you can't really have Void without the Sentry can you?

    I suspect we'll see both (and probably separate covers). Both are very relevant to the storyline in their own way.
