Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a max level Sentry. Mine is only 1/1/1 right now, but I've got 165k ISO in the bank and 3900HP, and with a Nick Fury DLC I could do it. He sounds pretty OP. I wouldn't mind paying the money to instantly become more competitive - if this helps me fill out the rest of my 3* roster faster, it could be a very good investment. On the other hand if a 2* roster is best for winning PvPs then it really wouldn't be worth it. What do you guys think? Unfortunately my LDaken is 0/1/2, or I would max him out too...

Wow! That's a lot of HP. I use all mine up with shields or roster spots. I definitely play differently than you. The one thing I don't like about sentry is that although you'll win matches easier, you'll spend a lot of time healing. That's something to keep in mind. Unless you want him now, maybe it's good to wait until you see when he becomes a feature PvP.

So, here are my thoughts on this. Sentry is one of, if not the best, defensive players. He can cause major damage, but you can only play with him for so long. He hurts the whole team, and he can hurt the whole team a lot.

But, I pass on him on fights, because I don't feel like risking getting demolished by someone who has high health, and high damage. So, if you decide to go with Sentry, know you may not be able to do a lot of fights at once. I feel he is best to put out for your last match that you will play so people don't retaliate.

I don't know for sure about this, as I do not have him leveled at all either, but this is what I have read, and experienced why playing against him. I feel he is similar to Patch, but defensively. He has a lot of upside, but a really big downside with the damage to allies and himself.

As i would recommend playing with a 2* Team as long as possible i dont know if i would lvl sentry.... I think using the sale is awesome to complete a competitive Team. I used it on my hood, to geht him nearly maxed. Do you habe two other 3* Chars to complement your sentry?

Virus, the last time I splurged on HP I bought two covers to finish my OBW. I also gambled a bit on tokens before they neutered the 3* drop rate. Since then I've been like you, only spending on shields and roster slots.

However. With an increasing number of 3* players I've been concerned that by the time I finally get the roster I'm looking for it won't stand out anymore. So I'm looking to accelerate the process and get a leg up on the competition. The points you guys make about Sentry are good ones. I guess if I'm looking for a one-man army I have to go with lazy Thor. Mine is unleveled, but with three more covers at least that's 3750 I'll save on HP. He's so boring, though. And is one 3* enough (plus OBW)? Or do I have to have at least 3?

Looking at my roster, do you guys see a better short-term way to spend 10k+ HP and 200k ISO? I've got a 102 4/2/4 Pun, a 92 4/2/4 Patch, 3/1/2 Hulk and 5/2/2 GSBW. None of those guys are an instant win button. I love Patch, but without Mags or old Spidey his usefullness is limited.

I love my Patch. But, like you said, he is best with Mags. He can be scary to play with by himself, and should be speced 3/5/5 without Spidey or cMag. Hulk, I have noticed, has been a pretty good deterrent on retaliations, but his offense is limited.

Personally, I find Punisher to be a great 1 man army. I haven't been using him a ton lately, as he doesn't mesh well with Patch, but that is really the only character he doesn't mesh well with. If you have 5 green, he can rack up a lot of damage. He isn't an instant win, but his damage gradually continues up, without any downside. Though, he isn't really a deterrent on defense.

I am also big on LThor. I know he may seem boring, but I have had more wipes against LThor than any other character. If you are really adamant about spending money and leveling up a character, LThor is a good pick, but Punisher is the cheaper pick.

Right now, i am building up my Hood, because I want another support character other than Spidey. But, Thor is who I want to build, I just need more yellow for him to really be viable. If you have a few green and enough yellow, it can be game over.

I think I could almost max both of them out, too. Those two plus OBW would make a pretty dangerous team on the rare occasion when I could use all three.

I think those three would make a really good team. Be aware though, you would not be able to max them both out. You need ~173k ISO to max a 3* from level 15. It would also take you ~87k to max Punisher from 102.

Ouch, you're right. Miscalculated the math...Thor would clean me out. Still, he might tide me over for the time being. You 3* players, who do you think is the bigger deterrent paired with Thor, OBW or Punisher? Or to put it another way, is anybody really not going to take the risk of going up against OBW with Thor when she's so squishy?

I will face an OBW anytime, given the points are worth it. She is very squishy with only ~3.1k health. Thor alone makes me think of what I am doing. Punisher doesn't scare me at all, but he can cause problems, and is basically idiot proof by the computer. He was great when I was first getting my 3*s because of his versatility. But, OBW is great to pair with him because of her steal and heal, and color combo. I still maxed thor and OBW teams, and they beat my maxed Patch and Mags plenty. Don't expect high level players to skip over OBW, but you will certainly be able to compete with OBW and Thor.

Spidey event isn't required. It awards Hunan Torch.
We agreed that aside from awards 4*, Spidey, Lstorm, that we would play ones awarding Patch, Classic Mags, Daken, and LazyThor.

And for some reason, I awoke to a lot of attacks. I didn't win a game there yet (on purpose) so I don't know what's going on. I think Cyrus had that issue at one point. His seed team was stuck. So played a fee with Patch and Classic Mags to hopefully stop it.

I don't know if it's the same problem I had; when I asked other people on the forums they said what I had experienced was normal. Who knows. Just out of curiosity, how did we decide to make Spidey tourneys mandatory in the first place? I thought nobody wants him anymore. Not that I'm complaining; I scored a record 4 covers! I'm stoked about that. At this rate I will max covers years before I ever have the ISO to level the characters...

Ha ha. Yeah. I made an executive decision because I had never seen it before. I also figured that people would vote Spidey anyway and I wanted to really know what people wanted, not just the ones that we were going to play anyway. Never thought he would be a reward or so soon. I think so many people run an OBW, that Spidey will be the new norm. Although he's so low level now that I don't find him that interesting or good yet.

Cyrus, I thought you won a match though and then tanked. I didn't win one match yet. It really is different result than what I was expecting. I had to start playing much sooner than I wanted but probably a good thing because I'll need to experiment who I want to play with Spidey. So far it's Patch and Classic Magneto.

I'm enjoying playing as Spidey, but it seems that the people in my bracket aren't fighting that much. Hopefully it'll keep up and I'll hit 1100 to get another spidy cover (right now he's 2/1/2).

If you get enough green, Torch + Daken is fun (thinking ahead to the inevitable Torch event), maybe with IM40 or OBW (she's great for healing and stealing, but I'm so tired of playing as OBW + Ares).
