We are listening

There's a difference between listening, and giving the players what they say they want. Many of the things asked for would eliminate revenue and so they will never be implemented.
I'm just happy to see more interaction and responses from the dev team. Keep listening devs!0 -
I think players would be happier if you focused more on fixing the existing bugs, multi-platform integration, and developed PvP that was actually PvP instead of pushing the "new means we've improved, right?" model.
And testing. Seriously, hire some testers.0 -
you can listen all you want, but if its fallen on deaf ears and no action is taken.. there is no point....0

See, it's passive aggressive **** like this that makes the community managers not want to talk to us.0 -

Just the fact that this game is over 3 years old and still needs development and "beta testing" is why I don't play anymore.0

The combination of thread title and username makes this distinctly ominous, perhaps a reminder that the devs lie dreaming, not dead.0

For ppl with families, jobs, lives, and enjoy playing more than one game per day, that's entirely too much time. it is ignorant and disrespectful to design a game in such a manner imho.
F2P man. F2P. This "game" (more like daily slot routine) model needs to go away now.0 -
I've been here for almost one year, since then I have helped fix some things that have been asked for over the last 3 years. Things take time, but we (Demiurge and D3) have made some of these changes that have been requested, I'm doing my best and will continue to try and find ways to solve issues that come up or have been requested, but these things take time.
We do have more coming, and will share when we know it's ready.0 -
Would it possible for Brigby to PM me. I had to register a new account as I got locked out of my normal account due to the reset password email not being sent to my email. thanks.0

Yes but there's a difference between the cashier who smiles and greets you warmly and helps you out because gosh darn it and golly gee, isn't it just such a wonderful day today!? 8D
And the cashier who's had nothing but people treating him like **** all day who just wants to keep his head down and get the day over with, so he does the bare minimum because anything more than that feels like wasted effort.
If your job was to wade into the perpetual misery, sniping, trolling, insults and general bilge this board accumulates, you'd find yourself only showing up with general press briefings too. Anything more than that will just drown you in a flood of negativity. Now, I'm not saying "Let's all be nice huggy wuggy friends all the time!" there have been design decisions and gameplay features that have annoyed me along with the community, and these things need voicing. But being insulting or prickly about it isn't going to help anyone. If you have a complaint, be constructive. If you're just going to snipe, then just leave. It doesn't help anyone, it doesn't improve the game, it doesn't make the community managers want to speak to us and it just brings the whole mood down.0 -

Hate it when you guys say that. Reminds me of when I was a kid and mum or dad would say "We're going somewhere special at the weekend. But it's a surprise!" and it was only Monday. So the rest of the week was agony because you wanted to know NOW, dammit! ;.;0 -
An interesting point was raised in the interview with Demiurge in the PW3 podcast from last week. One of the devs admitted, very openly and frankly, that's there's always going to be a natural tension between what the devs want and what the players want. The devs want something that brings people back to play, but also encourages more playtime or in app purchases. The players want to have fun, want to feel like they're progressive, and they want more stuff (let's face it, we all want more stuff).
The two aren't mutually exclusive, but at the same time, there's a considerable dichotomy between the two objectives.
If we take TheOncomingStorm's post, nothing that he's asked for is unreasonable from a player's perspective (hell, I've asked for similar stuff over the last few years too), but it doesn't necessarily match what will make the devs money, to put it bluntly.1. Pve still requires too much time.
But a fair number of people are still playing it, and it's resulting in eyes on the game metrics for the devs. They're tried to tweak the game so that if you play casually, you can play to your own schedule, but it's counterproductive for them to try and decrease our playtime. (I agree with you, by the way, I do think a mobile game should require less of a time commitment).2. PvP (and to a lesser extent pve) placement rewards still have not been updated to reflect that we left a 3* meta over 2 years ago. 3* placement rewards should have been entirely replaced by 4*s long ago.
The devs' likely objective is slow your progression, the further you get through the game. The only way of measuring progression is via character covers and levels (and the only real content for that matter), so this is definitely a case of there being a natural tension between what the devs want and what we want.3. RNG based progression is compete b.s. I'm talking about 5*s. Granted MPQ gets partial credit for allowing fringe cases to e-mail cs to exchange covers. So MPQ partially recognizes the problem. However, that's a very minor amount of the cases.
Again, I agree with you. But again, it relates back the devs' objective to slow progression, and make money. Definite tension between what the devs want, and what the players want.
tldr - I wouldn't question Cthulhu on the fact that they are listening. I think they definitely are. But there are just some things on which they're not going to act, because it's not in the best interests of them as a company to do so.0 -

Heh, yeah I hear you. And, the cynical side of me can't help but think,"They don't have to keep a promise they never make." So, until the dev work is done, useless banal platitudes like "we listen" is all you'll ever get.
And while the attempted olive branch is appreciated, Cthulhu, you have to know that people are definitely burned out on random progression. It may very well be that this randomness leads to what you see as significant income from your megawhale buy clubs, and it wouldn't be prudent to state that plainly. But, know that this is a double edged sword. I won't put a dime into this game anymore until we have some sort of reasonable system of progression. If you want to spend all your time trying to chase the few players that would spend thousands, that is completely the prerogative of the dev team. Just know that it may be coming at the cost of losing the thousands of players that would spend a few.0 -
i know i'm not the only one. but i'm not getting any shield intercepts since the update happened.
seems like a fair amount of folk are now though. any chance this gets cleared up sooner rather than later. not a big fan of missing out on the extra resources while others are getting them...0 -

Cthulu, thanks for replying again.
I have no problem with all y'all keeping the revenue flowing, and because of that, I'm not interested in in-game l00t giveaways whenever anything happens. I can understand some events not working out in reality as well as they did in planning. I think the game (and forum spirit) would be better with the following touches:
-- Compensation when SOME of the playerbase is negatively affected, be it by OS or time slice or /reason (but if everyone gets ****, then I'm fine).
-- Consistency in Customer Service experience, regardless of "whaleishness."
-- Post-Mortem statements after new events.
-- No new releases during major NA, European, or Asian holidays. Let folks have some kind of outside life without feeling they're missing their one big chance on a new 4* (or ruining their alliance's chances).
-- Ignore any posts with the phrase "literally a slap in the face."
I've been treated pretty well, spent a fair amount, and I have few complaints over my 700+ playing days. I do think that my persistence results in burnout, and I viciously cycle, but so be it.0 -

I agree things take time and I have no doubt that you guys have more good things coming down the pipeline. However, I can't get excited because the problems we're talking about are lack of testing and releasing things broken just about every time (and refusing to ever apologize in the least for that). Until that changes this anger/frustration is going to keep occurring. I'd much rather see things come out slower and less frequently, but come out polished and working. Can you work on that please?0 -
I think the true idea here is that what we want is not always what they want. So, sometimes, what is best for the company may indeed infuriate the customer base. And what may make the customers happy will result in less money. I do agree that they tend to err on the side of "we only care about the money" too often, but I get it. I just wish someone would have the gall to admit it.
"sorry, giving out 4* easier, and eliminating the RNG, is not something we plan to do."
"sorry, giving out ISO would hurt our business model."
I would hate to hear those, but I would respect any person willing to admit it out loud. For now, it just seems like they want to keep us guessing while padding their pockets, until the tension boils over. We are fast approaching a tipping point, methinks.0
