Well, there you go, you learn something new everyday!
Either way, the point mostly stands. The implication that somehow Hi-Fi was stopping the other "red names" from communicating is a bit far fetched.0 -
Hi-Fi did the best that he could with the hand that was dealt him. He would have been elated to have the devs communicate with us more directly on the forum. As many have noted, he tended to do a lot of his magic behind the scenes and I assume part of this is that he wanted to be cautious in regards to managing people's expectations.
Believe me, he was very aware of the big issues that plague the game but there was only so much he could do.
It's also important to keep in mind that IceIX, Cthulhu, Hi-Fi and Brigby are different people so they will have different approaches to the way they interact with the game's community. None of them will be perfect but they each have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to communication and providing information.
Brigby has been doing an outstanding job in his first week. He really hit the ground running and his enthusiasm really shows. But I also want everyone to keep in mind that his current schedule allows him the time to be more active. There will be down times for sure and it is during those times that we will have to be more understanding and try to avoid being overly cynical.
But as long as he is able to communicate clearly with the community what is going then I think he will do just fine.0 -
Cthulhu wrote:Hello, I posed this elsewhere but wanted to call it out after talking with a friend. We never mean for players to be beta testers or want players to feel that we aren't doing our best to make the updates and events fun for all players.
My first year on the project has been great, I've learned a lot and also have been pushing to make the game fun for early players, older players and everything in-between. Demiurge and D3 have come up with great ideas that we hope you all enjoyed, it was great meeting a lot of people at Ny Comic Con and other places, and hearing the feedback of players enjoying the latest updates. I know I always say it, but more stuff is coming that we know players will be happy with.
After hearing from the community and some feedback internally (for example I got destroyed in boss rush and could not beat Kaecilius) we have recently made some process changes to hopefully catch this stuff better in the future. As always, we read all the feedback and do our best, please pardon our dust as we keep pushing forward.
Thank youCthulhu
The panacea is always communication. Sometimes the best laid plans get gnawed by the rats of chaos, but communication is a much better pacifier than radio silence. We may not always get the answers we want, but as long as there's someone willing/able to speak up, community feedback will be significantly less murder-inclined.

I know at least one dev has 2 champed 5*.
Having 2 champed 5* is not the same as being an upper level player.
I suggest everyone to listen to the latest Puzzle Warriors episode (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=55160). I'm still amazed by some of the remarks of the devs. They very clearly are not on the same page as the upper level players. It almost seems as they are playing a different game even.
And at this point it almost feels like an insult to see such a red post again. They only thing they have ever said is that they listen, not once have they actually mentioned what they did with our feedback.0 -

You'd feel just as insulted if the red names weren't posting.
How 'bout maybe don't call communication an "insult" and maybe we'll see more of it?0 -
I do appreciate the communication.
But after 3 years, merely "listening" is not enough.
Actions speak a lot louder than words, and I'm yet to see any indication that things are actually in the works which address the stuff that we've been calling out for 3 years now - namely scaling, and, in the last 13 months, RNG only progression into top tier play.
Listening is good.
Being aware of stuff is good.
But I'm listening to a lot of morons each day where I forget what they said right after I heard it.
I'm also aware of a lot of things without any intention of changing it.
Please don't let this be another thing just to calm down the forum without any follow-up to it.0 -

Ok, so you are satisfied with them posting 'we are listening' over and over again? Of course I appreciate the fact that there seem to be more red activity lately, but I also feel that we should be able to expres our feelings. Thanks for that! Let's see how the new processes turn out.
But please also listen to the Steam players as well(especially to the Shield Signal Inercepts not even evailable for Steam VIP users outcry...)

On top of game problems, maybe you could figure out what the word "fun" means. Like the node in the second sub for Captain America 2*. 2 AP stealers make the match drag out forever, this is NOT fun. Let me repeat that so you don't misunderstand, that is NOT fun. We do not like matches dragging out to 10 plus minutes cause every move causes you to lose AP. Then you get a bad luck game multiple times in a row where the AI gets 10 to 20 AP a turn, just makes it frustrating too.0

What i really want is not to see one of these posts. But, some answers to our problems. Being a VIP steam user, i would have loved to see a post about the concerns of the rewards of the intercepts and now that i read the forum everyday, i see numerous problems which are pointed everyday, but i've never seen any kind of real answer or feedback.
I've not found any game which make me happy as MPQ right now, but i'm still looking for...0 -
Thanks much for the post. I posted to this effect early on when I joined...players are a lot more forgiving and will get on board when they see any sort of regular communication. More communication of any sort really helps keep forums and the player base from turning toxic. For me personally, let me know you're actively working on improving the game and give me a glimpse of the game plan, and I'll continue to support it.Uthgarprime wrote:On top of game problems, maybe you could figure out what the word "fun" means. Counterpoint: I appreciate the challenges thought up in Simulator. No one is missing out on much by not hitting a high rank in this one anyway. Some of the nodes are very challenging without a roster to counter, but as a 3* player, I'm cool with that. These are mostly legit teams we are up against, not the cheapness of Muscles and feeders in general. IM40 has no problem on that particular node. I stunned and gunned them all down with him and my 10 cover Peggy. I'm sure there are other good options. If you're really stuck, get some AP boosts to take out Hood right away and then it's smooth sailing.0 -
lmfao.
Y'all are complaining about them ONLY LISTENING, when many of you are NOT ACTUALLY READING.
If someone comes into a new position at a project that's been going of for SEVERAL YEARS......what? You think they get to automatically click their heels and EVERYTHING will get immediately fixed?
Clearly, he is JUST GETTING STARTED, so HIS version of listening is "listening and taking action, slowly but surely."
Good grief, y'all. Open your eyes. Smh.0 -
It's nice that you're listening, better than nothing I suppose, but what you actually need to do is test your freaking game. Every new feature is bugged; every boss battle has been designed without a sanity check (possible exception: Civil War); multiple tiers of gameplay are basically being generated procedurally by scaling-up code that was designed and tested for mid-level rosters. No offense to Hi-Fi or Brigby, but if D3 announced that it was taking the money previously dedicated to the community manager position and using it to hire for QA instead, I'd cheer.
By way of comparison, the other freemium game I play is Final Fantasy Record Keeper, where there is no communication between the devs and the player base (the devs are Japanese, but even in Japan there's no communication), in-game help is frequently misleading, customer support is every bit as capricious as D3's, but by and large people don't care because the game works. Bugs are infrequent and when they do crop up they rarely affect gameplay and are fixed in a matter of days, not weeks or ☠☠☠☠ months. Communication is not your problem.0 -

Sometimes it's just not possible since we are a very small team and I'm managing both MTGPQ and MPQ, but I've definitely found my stride and hope to be a bit more available as some things take a lot less time then they used to!
If you're handling both gaming properties, then you need to ask for a raise!I'm sure it's a lot of work and mad props to you for being able to do so.

We definitely appreciate the effort you guys put into the game. We only get frustrated cause we love the game and see what it could be. If we really had issues with it why would we still be around? But one thing that causes major concern for me is that the testing for boss rush was played in a different way than the players would be playing it. Testing it in single fights instead of waves, when the player base had to play in waves (The intent was to play waves the entire time) Why? That makes absolutely no sense to test it differently than how you plan on the players to play. You don't bake cookies and taste test store bought ones before you sell the ones you bake. And players have been complaining about scaling for years but the event was tested with only one type of roster, again I can understand how that makes sense. If the players complain about scaling, tests with all types of rosters must be used to see if there is an issue. When I heard all this, my jaw dropped and I just sat there. Both of those would have been easy things to see and pretty obvious mistakes in the testing phase.
I say all this out of love. I realize in my job, Im suppose to figure out every possible way for something to go wrong so I can fix it before the guests encounter them. But I do believe those were simple ones that were overlooked.0 -

1) Of course not. But you know what? The new guy is trying to say and do the right things so, y'know, how 'bout maybe judge him by what happens when the fecal matter hits the spinning blades, as it so often does?
2) of course you can express your feelings.
3) SNIP If you're going to be insulted by radio silence, then you need to deal with it like a rational, mature adult when the new guy shows up trying to reset relations instead of proclaiming how you're ALMOST insulted (see what you did there?) by the temerity he showed in posting something that wasn't FREE STUFF FOR ALL WE'RE SO SORRY RITUAL SEPPUKU IS FORTHCOMING.

So if you are listening, would you please answer to the matter of different droprates in pvp for 2*covers? Not a token issue (which was the first answer on my ticket), its the reward for the fight (70iso, 140iso, 250 iso, 1*cover, 2*cover). For me and other players we experienced a lower droprate for these 2* rewards since the patch which introduced higher iso-selling-rates for maxlevel-fullchampioned chars.
The issue is described here:

I have not much hope and in the meantime I´m completely disencouraged to play pvp (esp. "villain"-lightningrounds).0 -

1) He is not a new guy and even if he was, he is the representative of the company I'm dissapointed with. Unlucky for him/her to have to listen to the complaints of the customer, but it's never directed at him/her personally.
2) thanks
3) I'm not a native English speaker and unfortunately not capable enough of adding multiple layers into a sentence. I'll retry: I would like to be treated better by the company that I've devoted a lot of my spare time to over the last 3 years, and when I have legitimate concerns about the game it would be nice to hear a bit more than only 'we are listening'. And that's why I feel insulted by 'them' repeating that sentence over and over. Actions speak louder than words.0 -
i was thinking about this and the replies to the OP. My conclusion is it is a lie, intentional or not.
I started with realizing there have been many, many recent improvements such as clearance levels, vip program, finite times pve nodes need to be cleared to get all node rewards, etc. So, my thought was, everyone is correct, they are listening. In fact, these changes got me back to playing after being gone for over a year.
Then i had a larger realization. The player base has been asking for (and suggesting) these changes for years. If MPQ was truly "listening," we would have had these changes long ago. Instead it feels we got these changes despite players ' voices falling on deaf ears for what seems an eternity.
Case in point, 3 of the largest things players have been asking for continue to be disregarded despite MPQ's "listening. "
1. Pve still requires too much time. 4 full clears of a pve sub to reach top progression takes over 3 hours for many (if they have the health packs and roster to do it). Thats not counting time for dpdq, PvP, or lr"s. 3 hours for a mobile game?
For ppl with families, jobs, lives, and enjoy playing more than one game per day, that's entirely too much time. it is ignorant and disrespectful to design a game in such a manner imho.
2. PvP (and to a lesser extent pve) placement rewards still have not been updated to reflect that we left a 3* meta over 2 years ago. 3* placement rewards should have been entirely replaced by 4*s long ago. However, there was a slight tweak and that's it. The placement rewards should reflect the current meta. I'm pretty sure that's basic game design.
3. RNG based progression is compete b.s. I'm talking about 5*s. Granted MPQ gets partial credit for allowing fringe cases to e-mail cs to exchange covers. So MPQ partially recognizes the problem. However, that's a very minor amount of the cases.
I guess MPQ believes players are lying to them when they tell them that they despise 5* progression being totally based on rng. Because if MPQ is truly "listening" and not making changes, that's the implication i take away.
TL; DR: If MPQ is truly listening to the players, the game should not have it's biggest weaknesses year after year.0
