  • I forgot that it was a mid-day finish or I would have come in and contributed another 50-80 myself. It looks like we got it anyway. We are doing very well in the Iso event too. Loving this!

Dranzi, you must have cost me 200 ISO in skips during this last Lightning Round icon_e_biggrin.gif

****. I didn't even think of looking to see if any of my opponents were in our alliance. Hope I didn't cost anyone points... You can take comfort in knowing that i helped you get a Hulk cover. icon_e_smile.gif

As for the PvE event, do the point values eventually get higher? I don't remember from last time. I don't see how anyone could get the high progression rewards at this rate.
  • How do I get accepted to this alliance?!! I'm a very active player in this game with many 3* n 2* characters currently ranked #104 in current tourney... These smaller alliance just aren't cutting it
  • Apologies for not being as hyper active as I usually am... I've been sick the last week or so and finally feel better. Still glad we hit in the top 100 on Fearless Defenders.

On another note... how has everyone's week been?

We just had someone leave our alliance. How often do you play? What is your in-game name? What place did you get in the simulator event?

Glad you're feeling better. We lost a member and are now down to 19. There are a ton of applicants in the game, but I feel like we should figure out who's going to be an asset. None of their rosters look particularly strong. Does anyone have a recommendation?

On an unrelated topic, I'm digging into Power Pivot for Excel. Fun times.

Thanks to everyone who applied, we're back to 20 members now. There were several strong 2-to-3 star transitioners in the mix, so it wasn't too easy to narrow it down.

We are going to start digging into Power Pivot pretty soon. We took a detour into learning R... which was like pulling teeth.

Wow. We're currently #7 in the ISO 8 event and 17 in the Wolverine tourney. Of course, there's a lot of time left, but it's nice to know that we're one of the more productive groups without being a-holes about it.

I'm going to flip the script and go full a-hole, don't spoil the surprise.

You cannot give reputation so soon. You may try again later.
  • Do any of you guys do the Facebook share? I rarely get anything anymore yet I'm constantly sending out. I'm pretty sure most of my list were us "rage-quitters" after Rags or others that have simply stopped playing. I'd like to just de-friend everyone and start over. Gone are the days of sharing with 25, or even 10 people. So I'd like to just setup the alliance and share amongst ourselves.

I'm open to adding alliance members on Facebook. The only active player on my Facebook list is our non-posting teammate, dizlegion. I send him stuff all the time.

If you friend me on Facebook, send your forum and in-game names so I don't reject you as some wacko. My name is Dayv Benzino on there. And now I can be google-stalked even more easily.

Would it make sense to set up fake fb accounts so that our only friends are in the alliance? Can you realign your game with a new account?
  • I use a fake Facebook, but I don't have a real one, so...

Ice said in this thread to contact their support to delink from an existing Facebook account

    viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1127&p=13326&hilit=facebook+unlink#p13326n

Sounds like you can also do something in Facebook itself, but some say it doesn't work right and I would also be paranoid about losing, everything.

When you guys are ready you can add me here:

    https://www.facebook.com/regalis.proeliator

    I've flushed my friends list.

I'm too paranoid to risk losing my account, so I'll use my real one.

Same here. I'm Brad Trevis for anyone that wants to be pals.
  • I left my phone at home today... I feel so weird not having it to sneak a game here and there. I have my tablet, but it isn't like I can sneak a game on a 10" screen like you can on a phone.

For stat analyst geeks: got asked today if I could make numbers look better. nothing weird there, a boss trying to ask if there is anything that can be done/removed/lied about to make his team looks better. Every data analyst has field this question.
What was weird was he meant the way the graph was built bothered his OCD like sensibilities and wanted me to re-arrange it entirely because it bothered him. That one is new for me.

Have you read anything on graph/dashboard presentation and design? It's interesting how visual some people are. For me, you can put the raw numbers out there and I'll see the big picture. But, others absolutely need to see the bars and lines to understand what's going on. I haven't found any books that I would recommend, per se, but I think 'Information Dashboard Design' by Stephen Few is interesting. One of the challenges I've found as an analyst is that not everyone gets numbers like I do. They really need you to hold their hands through the process and show them every metric and how they relate.

That said, I worked with someone who was completely unwilling to allow changes in the graphs and charts we had been using for years. They were full of ugly colors, hash marks, grid lines, etc. The new regime is much more willing to allow my team to determine how to best present the data. We have to stick to some standard color palettes, but it was nice to finally update and streamline our dashboards.

We went thru that a few years ago and created a standard palette that works really well. And you are so very much right, raw numbers are useless to most people except those three or 4 weirdos that want to know the trend of widget 5 on Wednesdays in June year over year. You have to package this stuff in something that you can digest quickly but is still meaningful. It also helps if it looks good and pretty, because a positive emotional response to the aesthetic leads to retention.

When we went thru the crucible of design change a few years ago I had people asking me why they couldn't get rounded corners on all the graphs. Also we are in an environment where everyone prints everything, no matter what we try to do to change that. And by everyone I mean execs, so our main customers. We went thru and dropped a ton of design work because we realized it wouldn't print without going into Power Point and changing the settings.

This guy tho... he is new and just doesn't like what we have as bars or what we have as lines and thinks things are in the wrong order (like in the legend on the graph). Real weird details that scream OCD to me. Also he isn't an exec, so he gets to just deal with it lol
