Hey, guys. Thanks for info on tanking. I was tearing my hair out in last pvp against lvl 141 punishers and spiders!. I basically killed my whole roster before I slept. I woke up and hit 450pts on best there is....fighting iron man/storm and 2* black widow! Result. Now to do same before final push and I should be back hitting top 10.

In game chat will be great too!

Also- thx for info on wolv and inv. woman. I got lucky (sort of) and pulled them from card packs. Absolutely no skl involved! I say sort of because they left me in a predicament on what to add to my roster. Ultimately sacrificed 50% built moonstone, cap 2* and daken to fit the two of them and new cap for event. Probably going to have same dilemma when Johnny storm gets here! I have hulk on standby and absolutely kicking myself because I could have 4+ covers but I've sacrificed him at various times for other cards and once because no hp

. Is anyone building the new cap or intending on building human torch? I heard a new daken was coming? I'm actually most upset I sold my 2* daken. I really like his green match power. I ultimately sold him because I didn't have him maxed for two strike tile atk. I was thinking how good would he be matched with hulks black power!

I'm not sure whether to dump cap. I never really liked old card and only added him this time for event. So far good choice because were ranking well.

What's everyone's thoughts on him and new card?

Cap isn't very good. The new one is okay, but it still is rather expensive to get the ball rolling with him on offense. Without spidey nerfed cap's blue just doesn't cut it. His yellow is awful. Way too expensive for what it does. The lazy shield bro red on the other hand is not the worst use of red on the world atm, but I feel as new characters come in they will ha e a better red than what it does. Cap is decent against goons, that is his stong point, but not all that great for pvp...actually pretty poor. That said, if he is leveled at all I woukdnt dump him. He is pve boosted often enough to warrant a roster spot unless you have a bunch of way stronger characters.

You need to stop dropping.characters and figure out why you aren't having enough hp inflow to buy a new slot for each character. You should basically never buy a cover if you dont already have an ADDITIONAL 600+ hp saved up. So to purchase a 3***, you should have at minimum 1850 hp...imo. moonstone isn't that big a deal losing, dakan is a little worse though. He is cheap iso cost and rather effective for a 2 ** (despite being a cupcake due to his health..no longer am issue with a 3*** release). Between 1 pve a week, 3 PvP, and random luck draws from other things you should be taking in upwards of 400 hp a week before shields between alliance rewards, PvP awards,
pve rewards, alliance pve rewards, etc. That's not even counting if they have hp in the nodes like they usually do. Only about 225 should be going towards shields hopefully? That might not be enough for you to keep up with all the new characters right away, but over time it will...especially as you get better placement.
3***>2** but only if you are getting covers. You can function perfectly fine with a 3 member 2** roster. Selling off all but. 3 1* is also helpful for room maintainence if slots are an issue. I recommend keeping Juggs, modern storm and ironman, but it really depends on who of the 1* u already have leveled.

I won't be putting iso into either cover. Even if I wasn't saving iso for xforce (if ppl wonder why I don't ha e multiple 141 on my roster...there is your reason why mostly) cap is not something I would waste/use 100k+ iso on and while johnny has some promise at a glance, I am afraid the ai won't use him well on defense (also low hp) and his offense won't contribute enough to take him over some other characters . If you like ht as a character though, I don't think he is a bad choice to out iso into. How good he is will also depend on if any of his tiles disappear when he dies. The machine getting his green off early once.or twice before he dies could lead to some irritating damage accumulation for example.

soenottelling: Since most in the alliance are veterans, I doubt anyone is going to be surprised by picking and chosing brackets and maximizing rubber banding icon_e_wink.gif
Sometimes it's also just a matter of being burned out of grinding every single day. I have a vacation atm so I can play an ungodly amount, but when I'm busier I also try to focus on more efficient playing, get the most points I can out of as little and focused playtime as possible.
  • We're top 2 in PvE!
  • Yeah! Crazy. I'm hardly hitting it and am top 10...same in my pvp. Although that's more to do with tanking

The event has very strange scoring since there are no subbrackets. So everyone just does one clear and then calls it a day. So far I can defend 2nd place in my bracket just with doing each mission once. Next to no rubber banding and everyone's points are extremely close together. Expect things to go batshit insane in the rankings on the last day.

Why 1850hp! As soon as I get enough hp (350 atm) I spend it on roster places. Why so much? I haven't been buying covers with hp! Do you guys actually buy the covers with hp? I only spend it on roster places...i haven't even bought a shield so far!!! I must admit though having read various articles on forum I've made some really bad mistakes. Ie; I haven't focused on one 3* but jumped on a variety. I'm realising various cards I only have 1 cover to will not feature for ages now esp. With so many new characters being introduced. This means they're just wasted roster space. I'll post link to useful article by northern polarity for 2>3* transition I wish I'd read earlier. Probably won't matter to top players but weaker members of alliance transitioning from 2>3 * may find useful.

I'm now nearly maxed on a 2* roster with a decent back up squad too. (Thor/obw/wolv with mags/storm/ares nearly complete). What I'm reading seems to suggest for 3* transition I should go all out on a new character as at first the covers are openly available. As I've realised if I don't go all out for a character it could be weeks before I nail the missing covers...reason my roster is full of 1 cover 3*'s!

At the moment I've only secured the one cap cover. If all goes well in pve I'll get 3 more. I've got feeling I've already missed out on 2 from failing in last pve. Am I better off going for the HT as I could potentially get all covers or still giving cap a go? Or should I try something completely different?!?! Ie; wait for daken? I could go for daken and Ht and focus all resources on both

Could someone check my roster and advise me. I' realise I should have probably ditched some of those 1 cover 3* cards but at the time thought they were the be all and end all. I now think I'll drop some and focus everything towards 1/2 3* cards.

    Thx.

I never buy covers, I think what he meant was that you also shouldn't buy covers unless you have such a huge HP pool extra so you can spare it.

And you are right in your new approach, focusing on a single 3* is the right way to go. If you will indeed get 3 Cap covers, then why not. I'm personally not too interested in him, but when you start out with 3*s, you really need to go where the covers are. It's nice that Spiderman is so overpowered, but I still don't have him because he just wasn't available to me yet. No use crying over spilled milk as the saying goes, you just try to make the best of what's available instead. If Captain America is that, then go for it.

I still think a great starting point for 3* progressing are Lightning Rounds, because they have the same rewards every week, so you aren't depending on the devs making good reward choices for you. With enough tanking you should easily get into Top25 of LRs. If you catch one event of a specific character (Magneto is the best, Doom is also viable, Hood is amazing support, but not a good starting point to build your team around since he is strictly support) every day you'll have 5 or 6 covers in a week without too much fuss. After that, try to end up in rank 26-50. Those ranks give you a diabolical token that awards a random 3* villian cover. Over time you'll get the ones you need. You can do this on the side while you work on a 3* hero via the other events since LRs are every week. But I wouldn't let that opportunity slip.

I'm waiting on another event with Black Panther covers myself. Currently have him at 2/2/3. One more cover of each and I could push him to level 100 and use him in my core team. Damn, make it happen devs!
  • I think that's how I ended up with so many random 3* covers. Suddenly doing well in LR as my 2* deck evolved. However, due to not tanking I was gradually getting way too hard opp. It was ok as my roster improved but once it was stabilised I was everyone's ****. Over last few LR I was scratching my head at how id managed to get any villain covers at all!. Top 100 let alone 25 seemed impossible!

Yeah, I'm not in favour of cap but if covers are a avaible in going to pursue it along with Ht. I'm not going to invest any ISO in them until I have enough covers so may even wait til daken is released to really commit to a 3*...however I already own one cap...so why not start somewhere.

I do really like your LR idea. I have at least 1-4 of most villain covers (I got a few hood recently). As explained before, I was despairing at gaining another but I've decided I'm going to tank next LR round I'm not interested in and beast the next card I am.

Currently top 20 in both events icon_e_smile.gif

I stopped the Wolvie Tourney at 750. I had just won a match that would have brought me exactly to 800 points for 1000 ISO when I started getting two retaliations in a row and had to shield up. A bit frustrating icon_cry.gif
  • Hey, just wanted to stop back in and say that I saw you guys are #5 in the Unholy ISO event. Really great job, guys!

And sorry KaioShin, I had to hit you back at least once after you popped me twice in a row in the Wolvie event. icon_razz.gif

Heh, no worries, I usually don't check the names and don't notice such things. When I notice I hit someone multiple times I feel really bad about it icon_lol.gif Unless it's lightning rounds, sorry folks but you all must die.
  • Just can't keep my score up on The Best There Is. Have been attacked 12 times in the last hour. Hoping to get a break, but losing faster than I can win right now.
  • I'm out at 811. Could have tried for first at 838 but I don't care about IW.
  • Can I retreat for tanking. Or do I need to actually fight and lose?
  • Yeah, just retreat. I go to shield training in prologue and do this with lowest cards in my roster. You can do it 3/4 times with each character. Just start and retreat immediately. I read another way is to enter a lightning round early when you face weak bots and beat the bots using a weak team. This way you'll be an easy target to others. Not sure if this works but read it somewhere. Obviously, you are then writing off that event beacause the aim is to take hits. You could probably amass 100+ pts with a 1* squad against the early bots too. Again, I've not tried this. Think I will in next few I'm not interested in

I just got top 5 (I hope...definitelty top 10) in best there is! Even at 700pts I was fighting teams with 1* storm! hawk eye and mbw.

I wiped my whole squad out last night tanking which really helped

I need more info on shield tactics though. I still haven't used one! My timezone is great for event finishes (as are my work hrs) at the moment. I was sidetracked today but reckon in last 3hrs if I'd shielded I could have hit 900pts and then only lost 25hp. But perhaps won the tourney.

I know you guys do it but wondered whether due to my situation it's worth it? Will losing 75hp gain me much more especially if I lose my team...and then can't achieve 900pts.

for pve tanking, no. For PvP tanking, yes.

PvP only registers the team you last won with. To lower your mmr you need to record a defensive loss, so you need to have a team in that is weak enough to attract attention while having enough points that ppl don't just ignore you. Generally lr are your best bet because they are weekly, the rewards are rather ho hum if you already have a given cover, the progress rewards ar low, and most importantly they reset every 2 hrs. The reason this is key is because if you start (click the event enough to open the node page)the event within about a min of starting (it can be longer depending on the time of day) you get bit team used to inject points into the event. With normal tournements you get these guys only once every 2 days. With lr its once every 2 hrs. This allows you to more easily tank by saving 1-2 nodes of really low opponents to fight after getting your score up to between 100-250 points. That way the team you win with can be something like lvl 15 doom, lvl 1 venom, lvl 30 dakan and still win the fight. Now everyone sees someone with 30-250 pts with a base freebie, a lvl 1 and a low hp character and say "I shall kill.it." getting killed tells the game your mmr is too high, so it drops (wins tell it the opposite and increases your mmr). This is the art of PvP tanking.

Tanking in pve records the fact that you lost as well and tries to lower the enemy lvls based upon your net total # of losses(though I've no idea how effective it is for this event. Some events it only takes 4-6 loses to see a drop..others its considerably more). Since the machine doesn't fight back, a "loss" is counted as you losing a match when in PvP that basically is relegated to only when you lose on def (didn't use to be, they changed it to try and counter tanking.to some extent...which it did...for maybe a week or two? Lol. It's still less tankable than.before by a mile though).

@Abat, its worth it for only 25 hp if you can guarantee a win or just go lessen the stress of someone passing.you at the last second. 25 hp, imo, is a somewhat trivial amount compared being stressed about a game. I have 12,900+ hp atm though...so maybe I am bias. Still, real life stress relief for 25 hp? And a chance for a higher reward? That said....remember others might be willing to drop shield and place a new one so jist passing a score doesnt guarantee you that spot....always take that into account as well. On top of that...iw isn't very good...and o don't expect them to ever MAKE her good. Her abilities are such that too much buffing and she could be pretty op, but too little and she is what she is now. That is, a decent character that might be interesting to use and work well with a certain team, but overall doesn't give you enough offensive or def firepower to warrant her use. At least xforce SUPPOSEDLY has a chance of being buffed. Heck, if he was just a 4**** version of astonishing wolvie I would be happy at this point.
  • Wow...you may have just eclipsed my explanation on that topic! Lol

I think I've learnt more about this game in two days than I have in two months! Yeah, I was panicking...and often do in the pvp awards. You're so right too. Why...for 25hp!?!! Haha. When you actually put it in context it's a simple answer. I've been scrambling for roster places with no real idea to why up until now. I think I'll go with shielding up at 3hrs left having amassed a 5/700pt haul. I avoid the big hitters anyway so having retaliation battles doesn't even benefit me.
  • Hold on...when you shield up can you still attack people too? Or does the shield break once you atk?
