Is anyone else finding an unusually high number of defensive victories? I'm running cap Thor spidey and I seem to be winning about 1/3 of the attacks on me so far.

Ive had five hits, with two victories that resulted in net points. What would be so hard? The fights I start are pretty darn easy....
  • I think I have 50% of wins when defending.

    I just dropped to #2 by 15pts.

kevin - gratz on Cap covers! I envy You! icon_e_smile.gif

As for the team, I went with usual Punisher + OBW. Cap is around lvl80-ish when boosted, so ocassionaly he's able to be useful.

You might consider the fact, that we have 1 desert node this time - paradise for Patch or Hulk or I dunno icon_lol.gif
  • Indeed we have desert - -I am tempted to go with mstorm really... Too bad my Captain is too low level for that. So probably will avoid that arena for good.

For patch it is quite killer, his green strike tiles get killed off instantly by green generation leaving only the purples.

I'll probably just treat captain as ballast for now and start with patch/mags, then switch to pun/mags, then figure out something looking at other teams. Anyone tried Hulk/BP for defense yet?

Most people start with massive retreat-tanking to drop the mmr gain from prev. tournament.
  • I'm shielded at 847pts. I planned to get to at least 900 today, but getting matches worth 8-10pts seemed to be too risky. Hell, I need to fight 5 battles, when someone will hit me once for -40? No, thank You.

Hopefully next time there will be more people worth better points. But 1100pts Captain Morgan (a.k.a. the Red) seems to be elusive right now.
  • Two things:

    1. Is anyone sharing rewards via facebook? I have connected my second account - the scAvenger - and if any of You is sharing, feel free to add me - https://www.facebook.com/jan.bezziemi.923

    2. Who's playing on Steam? I currently use to chat a lot with Moghwyn, pasa and Phantron. If You want to join, look for emerytpl.

I play on steam, I will look that up.

...and also does anyone have a good game plan as far as how to approach the end of this Unstable Iso-8 event? (When to start grinds or play sessions to lead into the final stretch and make a good refreshed rubberbanding push, etc)

    I'm currently #17 with 32518.

If time is not an issue, the guaranteed to work strategy is:

Grind to #1 on the refresh before the last one.

Constnatly do your lowest point mission as the last refresh starts to stay at around top 5.

Use your biggest point missions when time is low enough that you can only finish your biggest point missions.

I said this assume time is not an issue, because you usually end up clearing every mission down to 1 twice. That said the general structure does not change. Get the biggest lead (or closest to #1) as you possibly can before the last refresh, and then keep all your biggest point missions and grind at the low point missions to try to stay at the top for as long as you can. People always overlook the fact that the #1 is the guy who gets to do all his mission the latest. That is, as long as you're #1 (or near it), you're in no hurry to do your big point missions and force other guys to make a move first. Generally speaking whoever has the most number of big point missions going into the final hour will win, and you need to grind your low point missions as much as you can to force your opponents to use them up.
  • First Avenger:

I grinded another 100pts to around 950 and then it started. I was hit by the same %$^#@ from Wrecking Crue like 5 times. For around 35-40 each. 1100 looks unachievable, though I put 3hrs shield and start grinding a bit again when US will go to sleep. Hopefully EU likes to sleep longer on Sunday and Japan has small amount of players icon_e_wink.gif

Currently sitting at 814pts. Davecazz is shielded at almost 1k. I won't try to take down his place, top5 is perfectly fine for me.

At least thanks to all the fights I was able to get mr Rogers to his soft cap at lvl64. At 3/2/2 he's far from being a beast, but at least I'll be able to level him slowly each time I get a new cover.

    I think I'm hungry.

Yeah after getting cap to his soft cap I've started putting ISO into Gsbw since mine is low even though she has been fully covered wrong for a long time. I'll prolly just push for 6 hours out to 700-800 and shield for 3 hours. I feel like gaining hp this tourney and I don't need any more red xforce.
  • hi emeryt icon_e_biggrin.gif , actually isz it v expensive to to use multiple shields per pvp? actually how much did u spend on e last pvp cos on e posts above u mention u shield multiple times

Last tourney was different, as I really wanted the covers, #1 was green IW and I had plenty of time. I spend around 600 HP on covers, while usually I spend no more than 375 HP.
  • The nodes got replaced in ISO after 36h, possibly these will last to the end. Guess best play to harvest them close to end of 12h cycles, just leaving safe play for all 3 series.

Community will surely scale up all nonessentials to 230 fast as RB people catch up, starting with the big-point ones.

edit: that didn't take long, fattest got to 230 in 1h8m, and I give 5-6 minutes for the second to get there.

Well I shielded to the end of the pvp at 720 ish hoping for a top 10 and looks good. Will likely run a round of pve before bed and another in the morning to get ready for the big push tomorrow night. Nothing on my board is 230 yet I've been playing minimally to keep scaling down. Hoping to get a yellow wolvie from it but won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen is such a messed up pve event hope they never run this one again.
  • Staying strong at #1 in unstable Iso. I'm at 43,096 with a few hundred point lead... Johney Storm here we come!
  • Managed to get that Cap Red cover .. whew. Now at 1106. Spent 375hp for all shields used.

awesome job. that must be a satisfying feeling! I'm only hovering around 700 & trying to stay in the top 10. I usually can't make it past 900 without being attacked by a chain of -40's from other attackers.

I did this, but I think it was 225 in shields. Combine the desirability of the red Shieldbro cover with the preciousness of tourney points in the alliance era, equals money spent on shields. I would never have done this before alliances were a thing.

Thanks. I have a good MMR so it was only when I was at 1040ish when the -40 attacks started to happen.
I decided to shield for 8 hours and rest when I was down at 990. Then I did 2 fights boosted, 3 hr shield.
2 fights boosted, 3hr shield. I only needed 8 pts for that final push for 1100, so again 1 fight boosted then shield.

This just shows how much the S.H.I.E.L.D Alliance have advantage over everybody. Every PVP event they get that precious 500HP.
This allows them a lot of leeway when it comes to using their shields to stay on top.

Because to be honest, I aint pushing for 1100 if not for a good cover.
For the S.H.I.E.L.D guys, spending 300HP on a PVP event would be dirt cheap. *sigh*
