Why are the progression rewards so high for Webbed Wonder?

Then they screwed us again on the 25CP for Webbed Wonder and what should be a fun throw away event to make people happy happy and generate good will ends up being hard as hell for nothing.

Why in the tinykitty wont the devs ever listen?

I just moved this weekend, so didn't really play it that aggressively and I just hit 54K about 30 mins before the end of the event. I didn't even grind everything down. I just played the wave nodes a few times and when they became too difficult I went to the lesser point nodes until I hit 54K.

I'm not dismissing concerns and I agree it should have been easier given this a sort of joke character, but I'm just trying to find the disconnect in our experiences. Did you miss a bunch of clears? I missed at least one and a few were not at full points because I got a late start.

I agree arimis. I didn't play sub 1 well. joined late. didn't get a good grind in. probably got them to 4/7 or 5/7 on average. played sub 2 good for me, but that includes not playing the flip and not clearing first clear until 5 hrs into the sub. I did grind sub 2 well. after 2 clears in sub 3 I need 8K, which is ~2 clears tonight (if I hit the waves 2x there won't be much left to do. if I hit them 1x, the other nodes will take some hard grinding). it is longer than normal, but not overly impossible. they basically moved it from a normal t100 effort to a ~t20-50 effort. which is harder, no doubt. but not impossible. I realized I had a chance in sub 2 and went hard at it to give me a chance and unless something weird happens in RL, I'm in good shape.

edit: ok, while it wasn't impossible, it is clearly further out than the normal 3-3.5 clear level. and I agree, anything requiring more than 4 clears for progression starts gating out large chunks of the player base and that's a problem.

I had to grind way more than I usually do to hit top progression. Last event too, but I was gunning for a new 4*. This time should have been easier but took a similar amount of effort. Next event looks to be the same, with the added difficulty of the test pve changes. This is an unsustainable amount of effort, and if it is the new normal, pve will become a daily 2cp ration and not much else.

No, I didn't miss any clears but I admittedly wasn't perfectly optimal. I played slice one from nearly the beginning, I had all essential characters.

Came in 47th in The Hunt, got my purple Howard but missed the 25CP by about 1900 or so points.

Came in 43rd in Webbed Wonder with 54,011 points, finished 4:30 or something in the morning with less than 2 hours to spare. It was God Awful but I did it. Everything was giving me very, very low points. I kept reading other posters getting more than a thousand points per clear more than me and yet I cleared every node. Either rubberbanding is screwed up or there is some sort of coding designed to screw people who join early and play hard to con them in to spending money or something. I also have been clustering hard. I have 6 Doc Ocks dying on the vine and I don't have him championed yet so I either have to farm hard or buy iso to preserve them if I don't want to sell them. All of my pulls lately have been 2*s or Doc Ock.

Do you mean 2 hours of grinding at the end of every sub, or 2 hours of grinding on the last day of the event? @_@

A very casual 2 hours at the end of each sub.
Usually enough to get all the rewards for the required nodes and trivial nodes. I don't push too hard on the difficult nodes unless they're minions. I want to have some health packs left for the first clear of a new sub.

I finished the event with 60,478

finished 17th with 60,500. I forgot a wipe after the first wave was done ticked the timer without providing pts (or just the first wave's pts) and that cost me some. that happened in yesterday afternoon's clear and not thinking, I just went again, basically double tapping it. so not only lost wave 2 and 3 pts, but was completely sub-optimal for the next clear. that spidey node might have been the hardest on the event. anyway, made it fine, but it was a lot of playing.

The problem was that you needed all the essential to do that. I was missing howard and and was only able able to roster Wolvie on the second clear, and it was clear that the CP was out of reach. In the past, even with only one essential, the CP was still reachable, but this event was diffinitely out of hand.

The progression was doable, but required grinding, or at least more than the usual 3 full clears per sub to achieve. Those 3 full clears are the maximum amount of time and energy I'm willing to invest in a non-release PvE, which is also why I strongly dislike the new PvE format from the tests. Having to put in more effort without an increase in rewards just isn't very player-friendly.

Same here Mr. Nexus. Didn't play this one to the hilt, cleared each sub in the morning ... in the afternoon, ground 2hrs in the evening, skipped 1st clear on each (bed instead), finished 60845, 26th place.

My bracket's top 10 ranged from 86K on down to 76K.

So the progression was doable, and could be far surpassed.

And the last sub was indeed worth around double the 1st sub.

The short length (3x24hrs) just freaked people out.

Is this irony/joke? What is casual about 2hrs grind at the end of the sub? Do you really think this is 'casual'?!?!?!!?

Yeah, the CP was reachable, but with more than 4 clears for every sub, which is not what it is usually required (usually 3 is enough).

People freaked out because AGAIN they are required to put more time into a game to get the same rewards. Devs NEED, MUST standarize how many clears are required to get the final progression. It can't change that much, sometimes you need 3 clears, sometimes 4, sometimes not even 2, this is stupid, it makes no sense (even for the same event it changes continuously !!!)

PS: It doesn't help that this was supposed to be a celebration for Howard, instead it was a grind celebration.

With regards to the "casual" remark, I wasn't saying 2 hours of solid grinding was casual, I was saying I casually ground the nodes down for 2 hours. Meaning I took my time, didn't rush them, took breaks of a minute or two to look at something else for a while. Just did what I could for about 2 hours. Also ate dinner while I was doing it.

Going at it more hardcore, I'd have aimed to grind everything down to 1 point, which I haven't done for a long time simply because it takes way longer now.

I also agree the top progression was reachable, but it was way closer than normal. Usually I hit the progression on the last day, usually quite early in it. I wasn't certain I'd make this one, but I did. And again, my not-that-far-over-progression score got me 16th place in the end. That's higher than I've hit for a while. Normally getting to the progression mark gets me top 100, or maybe top 50 on a slow bracket.

My general rule of getting all of the rewards for the required and trivial nodes, then mopping up whatever I could be bothered with afterwards usually gets me progression easilly. Not so much this time, so yeah the rewards were a scooch too high.

EVERY "story mode" event is a grind celebration!

And it isn't going away. Tried the "tests"? They are "testing" doubling down on grinding icon_rolleyes.gif

Yolu can play once/day ... for 3x as long! Yayyyyyyyyy!

Not going to happen icon_razz.gif If they change PvE to this, I will stop playing for placement completely.

I know PvE is a grind celebration in general, but in anniversaries and I hoped for this duck season also it would be different... Silly me.
