The difficulty in this event is ****. The essential wolverine node is one of the hardest in the game. Can't keep up with a muscle and 2 dons.

I'm glad someone else had this experience ha ha.

I only picked up 1 cover to do the essential thinking (like I usually do) that I would easily ace that node with a 2 man team...a few defeats later and I accepted defeat and added a couple more covers to my temp wolvie to don the node.

I'm really starting to think there has been an error in setting the points for the subs. Normally (well... 'normally' I guess) in a 3 day event the first node of the a sub would give you 100 points in sub 1, 150 in sub 2 and 200 in sub 3. In this event it was 100 in sub 1 and 133 in sub 2, the same as would it be a 4 day event (100-133-166-200 for subs 1-4).

Could it be that the points and progression is set to a 4 day event by mistake? Or are there some massive points to be gained in sub 3 by means of survival nodes? I'm still in sub 2 so I couldn't say.

They just want to make their PVE tests look good, by making progression for the old style PVE much harder.
Can't help but thinking this is done on purpose.

    I keep remembering that quote.

    "We are supposed to lose."

    Where did I hear that?

    Edit:

Just did some math. With my current score, and doing full 8 hour refresh clears, I'll need to do 7,200 points worth of grinding between this subs end and the next. And I haven't missed an 8-hour clear and have done grinding at the ends. ****

I really need that purple Red Hulk cover to get him to 13 covers, so I've been grinding myself at the end of subs (Can't wait until Thursday when I can sleep in again.) but right now I'm at 49,675 after my first clear of the 3rd sub. Should get the progression on my 2nd clear later today.

I'm lucky to have a maxed 4Hor who, when boosted with IM40 backing her, just one shots people one after another once the recharge gets through. But the top player in my bracket only has one maxed 4 star (Fury of all people) with the rest being just champed 3*'s. Rank #10 is at 40,789.

Its tough, but doable. I'm okay with new events being a challenge, even for the progression rewards. I think its questionable to do it right after a new character event grind, but then again I likely wouldn't be top 10 if there weren't so many burnt out after that.

My first sub was worth 3603 and I joined right at the beginning. Sub 2 is worth 4060 per clear. I think that 6502 might be correct, I'll confirm it when my 3rd sub starts tonight.

6502 is correct; I've done my first clear of the last sub.

I'm at 45.5k after that clear. Gonna get the cp in third clear tonight. And I'll be finishing top-10. Lot of people are going to be missing it. Not cool.

Just to prepare myself...how many carnage/symboite nodes are we talking about in the final sub?

Should we be suspicious that the cp prog reward was the same 54k in the previous event? Might demiurge have just cut and pasted the prog rewards, forgetting that this event was shorter? Do the lower tier prog rewards also match across both events?

Also, why the **** is this a problem at all?! 3x full clears for each sub is not a hard number to calculate.

So, the good news is that the last sub is 6500 so I will get the CPs, the bad news is that I will need one more clear than expected to reach them.

I don't know why devs mess so much with the CPs. We know they said 3 clears should be enough isn't it? or are we imagining they said that? did they really say that we should be able to get the max progression with 3 full clears? Because if they really said 3 clears should be enough for any given PvE, I don't know how they can mess the math so much. It is really simple

    (3600+4100+6500) * 3= 14200 * 3 = 42600!!!

The level we have now is almost 12000 points more, which is almost a 30% more, it is not like they missed by 5-10%.

I'd love to see a link to that as well. It certainly seems to have become gospel on the forum, but I don't think I ever saw a dev say that. Looking through the announcements board right now but nothing specific yet.

Like much of the information about the game, we've gathered it ourselves. Things have shifted over time, but typically if you do three clears and a bit of grinding for the CP prizes on the hard nodes you'll get there.

After two days of at least 3 clears each, I'm only just hitting the 3* progression prize. So I guess I won't be able to win the 25cp in the last grinding. That's too bad. Looks like all the time spent earlier was worthless!

I feel that there's a general air of stinginess with all events and prizes. It would be great if they could give even a little bit more. I feel that other games I play do a better job of providing additional rewards and progression, as well as special prizes for when you make it past a certain level of completion with your play. Prizes that speed up further progression, once you hit certain experience levels.

Hm, unfortunately, that's what I kinda figured too. Normally I've been doing 4 clears when I can, and that's been doing the trick for the 25 cp reward (for now) pretty reliably. Got strategy through trial and error. I only really grind if I want a top placement (rare) or the CP nodes, though its easy enough to grind down the the trivial nodes if I've got the time. That goes further than you think for so little effort. As long as the trivial nodes last, that is.

Even so, ISO from 3-4 clears still ain't bad. (its not great, but it helps.)

A full clear of Swipe Left is 6587 points, 8 health packs, an hour, and roughly 25 4 letter words. Most will not be able to get the "free" Howard. A survival node full of Venom goons and Doc Ock, all leveled to 242. This whole event sucked and was so much less than it could have been.

I have 2 purple Howard covers to show so far. Looking forward to not being able to pull off his 4* DDQ.

Depending on his opponent, you may still be able to make it. The purple covers grant multiple invis tiles that also do damage. I haven't completed an IW DDQ yet, but from what I've read you don't need any more than that one invis tile and a good match denial strategy. I expect Howard will be similar.

Might take a few hours, though.

Eh, it begins with a wave of Hammer goons - you can just amass AP there and waltz through the rest of the waves. 2*Mags, 2*Storm, and 2* or 3*Thor. Don't use Thor's Green and wait until you have 24+ green AP until firing Storm's. Utterly trivial as you can stunlock everyone. For giggles I used 3*Bullseye and filled the screen with Strike tiles.

Agreed. The scaling is harder, but the same tactics from Big Enchilada still work here, except for this you know it will be goons to start. A IM40 with 5 yellowflag.png will make that an even stronger proposition. I've done it twice with him and haven't taken damage either time.

The 3* essential survival node is harder in my opinion. Spidey will limit your usual difference makers and the Mutations will make your life a living hell if you don't build up quick. For the life of me, I couldn't get 6 yellowflag.png ap together for IM40, and they took 28K of health off my boosted 4* Thor champion before I got to the 2nd wave. Just brutal.

I used SWitch, Spidey and Deadpool for this. First 3 waves are goon waves, if you've been doing DDQ regularly it will feel like home only easier as the board movers don't come in until the last wave. Just max out red and purple for the last wave and in the meantime just do some light use of Little of the top and Whales as needed. Get Spidey's stuns out and use his useless yellow heal as needed.

Just before you finish off the last Venom goons in wave 3, make sure you use a power to finish the goon off so Doc Oct and gang don't get a turn while you unleash 5 Little off the tops and 2 Whales on them. icon_lol.gif

im two clears into final sub and i still need 7000 pts for progression.

    and im top 20.

seriously who screwed this pooch. icon_redface.gif

i feel for those who took it easy in the first couple subs thinking progression would be reasonable.
