I was thinking the same thing. Though that did give me an idea for if DecoyDuck ever wanted to expand the CareBearStare to 40 or 60 members. You can set up a promotion system between 2-3 teams where the bottom 2 or 3 players drop down a team while the top 2-3 move up (assuming their scores are more than the bottom 2-3 of the upper team). And if a member is going to be out of town or taking an event off he/she could be moved down to a lower level team for the time being and not feel like he's letting the group down. That would allow for us to accommodate the casual players, the hardcore players, and everything in-between without every having to kick members.
Not that we need to add any additional teams. I like what we have here. I'm just throwing that idea out there.0 -
How did everyone do?
A special shout out to FriteJay, who inched me out at the end of seson 1. Mind you I got hit a few times and knocked back.
Season 1 - 14th overall.
Krakadoom - 4th.
I can definitely live with those numbers and the ISO comming my way from selling 20 BAGMAN COVERS!!! The Pain! The Pain!!
I am just going to max him out at 85 and hope that the sacrifice to the MPQ gods shows them I am worthy of not getting him in covers anymore...
* * * * * * * * * * *
On a different note... Have you guys seen the rewards??
simulator, 3000 points, Black psylocke (checking and need), 3200 Blue Daken (checking and need)...
Pulse check... worth "that much effort"....? No way. Mind you, simulator is a great place to ISO farm.
That is all!!
Gratz CareBears for your Nick Fury's. Unless FuryGate should begin...0 -

We'd be like some sort of weird alt-dimension version of 5DVs or x-Men1,2,3. I wonder if Klingsor or Johnny1Punch can give me pointers on how to crack a whip, I mean, motivate.0 -
For those of us stuck at work, am I to understand from Tonzil's post that we are diving straight into S2 with a reinitialized Simulator?
I'll go lurk in the Events/Tournaments forums...0 -

Krakadoom - 4th.
Krakadoom - 17th (probably my worst score in the season...couldn't play both PvE end + Krakadoom at 5-6am hum...).Tonzil wrote:I can definitely live with those numbers and the ISO comming my way from selling 20 BAGMAN COVERS!!! The Pain! The Pain!!
My guess 10 Yelena, 6 IM35 & 4 Mhawkeye...or something like thisTonzil wrote:simulator, 3000 points, Black psylocke (checking and need), 3200 Blue Daken (checking and need)...

Not sure about a CareBearStare 2 alliance. How much real money is it for all the HP required? I was thinking it be more fun to stand up a thread like dogshaming.com and have a little fun.0

Well, then I guess I should post about this now instead of a little bit later, because it may be relevant to the discussion we will have to have about how we want to deal with Season 2.
I wanted to warn you guys that I will be travelling for work May 31 to June 6 with probably no access whatsoever to the game. This is a long break in the context of how the season scores are calculated, so I feel you guys deserve a fair warning (I told DecoyDuck a few weeks back already). As traditional vacation season comes around, we should discuss what we want to happen with these life events.
My personal vote in the discussion of how hard to push this season is tinted by this travel plan of mine. I would like us to get top 100 alliance rewards in PVPs that reward covers nearly all of us need (LDaken, Falcon, HT-type rewards) but I would not mind if we were to not be there in tournaments with less desirable rewards, even if I may need them myself (Psylocke is an example of that, I'm missing a lot of her covers, but I don't feel like the alliance should grind like crazy for her if that's not the general case for us. Punisher or Rags would be other examples in that category for me.) Similarly, the second Fury cover is a lot less desirable to me (you only need the one cover to unlock anything restricted) so while I'd be glad to get the second one, I will not be throwing a fit if we miss it.
Any thoughts?
(Edited for messed up sentence.)0 -
I'm game for easing back as much as people want to, but I'll probably go with the flow in any case. My wife will be having surgery in mid-June, which means I may be easing up on my playing some, but it also means that I may be doubling down on other stuff, as I'm taking about a week and a half off to help with her recovery and there may be a lot of down time. In any case, I may not be super-reliable.0

I myself need a break. There are some days I waffle about my ability to keep running this game. Perhaps fedlex and purinxa are on to something. But I like playing though. I just don't like fighting for artificial goals and the grind cycle. On particularly low days, some good alliance chat cheers me up and I think, "why would I ever quit these great group of people?"
CareBearStare has proven itself with our Season 1 finish. #63. We can relax for Season 2. Or even Season 3 and 4 for that matter.
But where does that leave our hardcore crew? Will too many casual finally cause them to leave and find better alliances? Undoubtedly, there will be a lot of spaces available in many alliances (including our own, sniff sniff) in the next few days. I like the idea of rallying when there is a particularly interesting reward... but will there be enough of us left to rally? Would it impact recruiting?
I've also thought maybe I'm the only one who needs a break. What does that mean? Play once a day? Every other day? Once a week? I've considered a self-exile into a newly-formed CareBearHibernate alliance. Regarding User311's comment. It could just be a standard 5 slot alliance, so it won't have any significant costs associated with it. I'd just get the 70iso alliance prize at the end of the events. And chat with myself and anyone else who wants to hibernate.
Regarding Kamu's statement. Just a week? We can survive that.
Ultimately, the goal is to come back refreshed and recharged. Hopefully into a game where the developers can tune and tweak things so that burnout is not part of the normal progression.0 -
My vote goes for easing up. I've said before that the football world cup will be a priority for me. But I'll also be travelling towards the later half of june so I won't be nearly as committed. Nick Fury won't be a useful hero in FOREVER and I don't expect I'll be around for long enough to ever get him to a point that will be useful.
I will echo what Kamu said. Let's focus on events where a majority of people need the alliance cover. I didn't make too much of an effort for Krakadoom as I only needed the Alliance cover and it was nice to be able to settle at 800-ish points.
If people want to keep fighting for the next Nick Fury then I'd be happy to step aside.
SEASON 1: I finished 14th and 24th in Krakadoom.
For the Alliance I believe the awards go to:
#1: DecoyDuck
#2: Berkowicz (ME)
#3: Tonzil
I hope everyone posts their reward draws, whether it be 10-packs or token rewards.
@DecoyDuck: It would be really cool if we could find a 2nd game that we could play together to take a break from this one, but I imagine that would be really hard considering the different platforms that people are playing on. I'd be up for it all the same if we could agree on another game.0 -
One way I look at it (and I posted it somewhere else): we got ourselves Nick Fury. If there's an essential node, we can do it. Having two covers isn't that much better than having one cover; I've got IW and XF at 6 and 7 covers respectively and they're still borderline useless.0

Sure, lets go with that.
5/5/3 X-force is useless... "The best there is" tournaments... he is less useful than the [unknown substance] that stained my once nice white phone...
EDIT:
I may just become a mercenary for hire here and there, if DD allows me to. You know, for a missing cover every now and again. And than, I'll go crawl into the Hibernate bear cave.0 -
I'm ok with the cutting back if that's what people want to do. I'd still like to see us place top 100 every once in a while but certainly no need to kill ourselves for it every single event.
Along with some of the restructuring of alliances that DD brought up I think we might just see a lot of players easing up a bit with a smaller group being even more focused. I think the bottom half of that top 100 alliances will on the average be more casual than they were season 1, I think our general attitude of being somewhat burned out is not very uncommon at this point.
I'm also cool with connecting in other games if people want. I don't play a ton of multiplayer games but if you want to add me on Steam we might cross paths at some point there.

The ONLY time I've seen a 4* required was for a PvP where each node you needed a different Wolverine. One node for each kind of Wolvie. There's not a chance in hell that Nick Fury will be mandatory in any event.
@AdamLMPQ: Even if we cut back I would still imagine us placing top 100 in nearly half of the events, except perhaps if people are away on travel. LOL Adam - 584 games owned on steam - think you could find something to play with others0 -
Meh, I'm gonna keep playing regardless. It doesn't matter how many bears go into hibernation, I'll still be getting more from this alliance than I was with the 5 man team I was on before.0

Invisible Woman in various iterations of the Hunt. I suspect they're going to pull something with Fury at some point.0 -

Ah yes, I do remember in the first (I believe) hunt. They scrapped it for the re-run though. I think they realised that it was highly unfair to newer players.0 -

It was there for at least two - I think the first two run-throughs, but not the third. My suspicion is that they'll do it with Fury right around when they add him to packs (at like a .4% chance) to try and sell tokens.0
