Just a heads up to everyone, I'm busy this weekend going to a convention, so I won't get a chance to start the Captain Marvel PvP event until Sunday. I still plan on putting up similar scores to what I normally do, just won't start until the last day.

Can't miss that sweet, sweet Blade cover(s).
But goodness, goodness... using him in the Gauntlet - I can't keep that lousy green stealing tile alive for anything!
  • Hi carebears!

Hope all is well and everyone had an enjoyable Halloween. icon_e_smile.gif
  • Amazing work team! A new Bear record in terms of points for the PVP (20K+) and a top50 team victory!
Blade covers were hot and the points were high - but we kept pace, kept heart, and kept the stare. strike.png

I set a personal high for myself: 927 points.

I won't be getting there often. The HP cost was very high. I think I made 4 jumps. I know the cost is probably less then DD spends every week, but it was certainly big for me.

    But where are the Skittles?
e.g. Yo mama so fat, when she sat on a rainbow Skittles popped out.
  • 4.5 days until the season ends! Keep those scores up and have a recruitment slot ready!

For a moment there... I thought you were hinting at your imminent retirement.
My heart is restarting now... ecountdown.png

icon_lol.gif Sorry, I guess I should have said roster slot
  • hi Bear..
Marvel.com: When will players get a chance to try out the mutant master of subterfuge?

Joe Fletcher: Mystique will be available through the fairly standard method—at this point—of being a reward in a PVE Event, followed by a Versus Event featuring her. November 6 is her date for the PVE Event, a re-running of Heroic Chapter 2 - Juggernaut. Fitting, isn't it? The Versus Tournament for her runs on November 14, and features some neat custom art for her background to show off some of her shapeshift-y goodness.

  • Duck rant!
Now that the 20-man alliances are de facto, my reaction has been mostly meh. You see, I bought all 20 alliance slots way back when it was still a suspicious action, worthy of the sandbox. In the early days of alliances, there were many schemes about each new person buying the next slot, or some PayPal shenanigans, or whatever. In the early days, no alliance had enough reputation (rank-wise) so the alliances sorted themselves out with philosophies of play, point minimums, roster configurations, funny names, and the like. There are still styles and philosophies, but most alliance distinguish themselves by their typical rankings.

Even though I bought all the alliance slots a while ago, I don't think believe I'm personally owed any compensation (I cannot speak for anyone else). It's sunk. It's sunk like a bad token 10 pack purchase. Plus, and this is my cynical side speaking, I'm presuming the devs don't keep records about who bought what, when, and where.

I'm actually interested in the change to the meta game. Now that alliance slots are all open - what does that do the balance of power? Not in the top25 or even top50 group... but the 75-150 ranks? We're seeing a lot more "little-known" alliances pop up looking for members. Alliances looking for merging. Some philosophies of play are being reintroduced. I wished this announcement to max alliance came with news about upcoming alliance features. I don't have to list any ideas here... the suggestions thread takes care of that (though if they introduce a stat-modifying Headquarters feature, you know I'm gonna get for the Bears the best Headquarters money$$$ can buy! Depend upon it!).

So alliances are maxed. No compensation anticipated. No new alliance features being teased. Stare on.
  • If I have time later today I think I might chart our alliance rank history based on what we have recorded in the war room. Would be interesting to see the trend line of rank improvement in the beginning and how well and consistently we've held our current rankings.

If you just want to see overall scores, it's on the original post of this thread! Since the season7 leaderboards have been borked, it's been a little trickier.
  • I'm going to be traveling a bit, so I may not start the grindfest until Sunday. It'll be late, in any case - not before tomorrow.

I imagine that there are some unhappy alliance members out there that spent some good money to get those 20 spots such as yourself. During that time though, the alliances that did pay for those spots had an advantage over every non 20 member alliance out there so I guess you could argue that you did get something for your money. Well, at least that's how D3 can rationalize keeping your money at least. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I'm interested in how opening up 20 member alliances to all will effect the meta game as well. Will it make getting top 50 harder since there will be far more 20 member alliances out there, or will it actually make it easier as members of strong alliances branch off to form their own, deluding the strength of alliances in general. My guess is that there will initially be a lot of chaos once season 7 ends, actually making it easier to get top 50 for those alliances that stick together and season 8 will require a lower point total to be top 50 as alliances suffer through factions splintering off throughout the season.

My guess is it won't affect us too much, at least at first - we're already ranking pretty well among 20-person alliances, and a lot of the new ones will be hodge-podged enough they won't be averaging close to what we average.

As they sort out, though, we may see the emergence of more super-alliances like the X-Men, especially as cheap as they are liable to get. And there will probably be a few more scoring in our ballpark. Top fifty may get tougher, and top hundred might become more common for us.
  • Stare on Bears... It should be no surprise they made the end of season particularly draining. I'll be at a conference for a few days starting Sunday. What does that mean for my MPQ? MORE time! Just, a bit more erratic. For the season!
