20th try with 1/3/4 level 145. got it. finally got enough green and saved it until after inferno (actually had 22 saved, so quickly had a second ready - took all the attacks out but 1). was able to deny TU just enough. came out with 4K health. used r/y+2, g/k+2, 100% match boost (didn't use those on the first 16 tries - had gotten him down to ~1500 a couple of times). I've used every health pack except one (for bop) since 5:30 this morning. was on my last pack here at lunch before I'd be done until this evening.

yay me. starlord red. putting him at 5/2/5. at least he can deal some damage if they don't get matched away.

this was by far the most unfun match. not liking the game today. really tired after going hard for LRs and 2 days of heroic play. need a recharge day. good luck to all.
  • They should create a 0* loaner deadpool character that has 1 hp, and 1 match damage for all colors, with no abilities, that prevents you from using a deadpool teamup. Then you could use team-ups without the ability to whales a legendary every 5 days.

After 8 tries with a level 167 5/4/4 Thing, and some of my worst cascade luck in a while (lost three matches when I had several thousand health left and HT was down to a couple hundred, due to drop-in red and green matches that powered Flame Jets and Fireballs), I finally gave in and full boosted.

At which point I got a Christmas-themed board with so much green and red that the AI only got to move tiles once. Tis (almost) the season, I suppose.

They were able to block DP team ups on Galactus without this.

It's like they want me to rage quit. Maybe that's their secret plan!

Drive people like me to the point of such frustration that we stop posting here about how tinykitty up this game is.

Between this node and having to pray for a generous board to have a chance, or grinding the CP nodes into the dust that makes up dust for one lousy CP, I'm ready to start drinking...early.

I know, I know. You can just quit. Well, to those people I say, cram it with walnuts! Not really. I could. But like so many, I've invested a lot of time and effort to get to this point. It's not easy to walk away. However, having so much of my fate left to the fickle finger of fate is tinykitty.

Worst of all, I don't think they care. *sniff*

There is something mildly amusing that by adding new stuff and new ways to get bigger rewards in difficult ways it actually peeves people off way more then just never adding that stuff at all.

I stand by loving this node for putting a huge reward up against one unique, but very, very hard fight. But like, you can't have a very, very hard node without all the stuff about "relying on lucky boards" and "ruined by enemy cascades" being a factor, unfortunately.

But it's still one of the funnest fights in the game, imo.

Difficult is one thing, but relying solely on a "good board" is another. It is a fine line, I'll grant you. But in a fight like this where you have two powers at your disposal, you really are pretty much at the mercy of the board if your Thing is massive(ly) covered. icon_razz.gif

I stand by hating this node because it's exactly the sort of thing a person in my transitional position needs, but it's out of reach most times unless I'm willing to buy boosts/health packs until I "get lucky." And seriously, if your Thing can't get lucky ...

4* DDQ is a giant bag of ****. That there have been numerous updates without fixing the TU is just a blatant FU to the player base.

I thought this feature was supposed to help people with the 4* transition. Turns out it's only helping people with their 5* transition. The only ones that I have beaten are for the characters that are fully or near covered.

My Thing is 2/2/3 and I never got Torch lower than 5k health regardless of what I boosted.

Yeah this one does not seem to working with my 2 0 3 thing who is actually 2 3 3 covers but the yellow passive is most definitely passive here. The combination of wasting health packs, luck dependent board's and troll team ups is making these face off more often than not an exercise in frustration.

The worst one for me is probably the team up though. They say the CPU still getting a TU is an oversight yet every challenge they go and find the worst trollest team up possible to give to the CPU. Give the CPU bagman and be done with it.

I threw my 0/0/1 Thing at him unboosted just to see, with predictable results. It's relaxing knowing there is no chance so I don't need to throw boosts and health packs away hoping for a good board.

I throw a few health packs at them every time just to register the loss into the win/loss stats they are keeping track of somewhere.

You need to stop thinking this as virtually every 4* DDQ to date has contradicted that thought. Yes, they originally talked about a new DDQ feature to help with the 4* transition, but when LTs were implemented the 4* DDQ morphed into a mode meant to help people that were somewhat established in 4* land to continue to progress their 4* rosters and start picking up some 5* characters.

4* DDQ is hard. It always has been. It is supposed to be. Stop thinking it should be easy.

2/5/5 lvl 243. First try, moving the streak to 14 of 14.

I'm done with Sam Wilson, barring an onslaught of his red covers soon.

The customer is always right. Obviously, this incarnation of the 4* DPD is not what the majority of the player base wants. Therefore, they should change it to what they led us to believe it would be.

Removing the TU would be a great start, one that was promised months & many updates ago.

Decreasing the levels slightly would also help. They didn't make Dino go up against a 270. Why not have everyone go up against a 250? A lot more people would be able to finish it, but it still would be difficult if you didn't have a mostly covered character.

Beat it on 9th try with my 3/1/4 covered icon_thing.png .... after I got some lucky cascades. It is sad that even a well covered character has a hard time doing this (I consider 8/13 covers well covered, I suppose). I was not pleased.

On the bright side, the token_legendary.png did yield a star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_jeangrey.png Phoenix

    0/2/4 capped at 147 here.

8 tries so far and no luck. I feel like I might have a shot if I had unlimite match damage (all) boosts. But as is I only have enough for a few matches, and one unlucky green or black or red cascade is match over.

I think we can add this matchup to xfw v. Cyclops and star-lord v. Gamora as the most difficult ones to date.

Or they could remove the TU and any other number of things to make it less ****.

And, when a player with 7 covers (more than 1/2) has no chance, it certainly doesn't seem like 4* DDQ is there to aid even partially transitioned players.

A 2/2/3 Thing definitely has a chance at this. My level 147, 4/2/3 finished with enough health to eat a Fireball, which was still a red match and an aggressive recon away.

My 2/4/3 @ lvl 188 has tried like 15 times today with no luck, both with match boosts and ap boosts...

my 1/3/4 level 145 took 20. just depends on how bad you want it. throw enough tries at it and you have to take maximum advantage of any luck thrown your way. could have finished it off about try #6 if I had played a little different. I didn't play it wrong necessarily - dumped ap with abilities before he fired recon, but then I didn't have green when he fired black, so it ate me up quickly - had him to 1500 that time. good luck.

The few that I've won have all come down to favorable boards. You're drastically outgunned, so you need a little luck to tip the scales in your favor. Unfortunately it seems like things usually tip the other way.
  • Stop blaming luck for your wins and losses. This is a skill-based game with a luck factor. There is a reason why week in and week out you see guys finishing with sub-level 150 characters while guys with 180+ characters complain about the difficulty. These people aren't continually getting lucky. They are actually good at the game.
