You’ve no doubt heard a few rumors, and today we can confirm that Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is coming to consoles!



Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is coming soon to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation® 4 and PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment systems. How soon? We can’t provide exact dates just yet, but we’re talking just-around-the-corner, 2015 soon!

Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is in development by WayForward and - for the first time ever in MPQ - players will be able to put their squads to the test in both online and local multiplayer. This “stand alone” version of the game will be available for $14.99 MSRP.

So this game doesn't include online ranking and stuff?
So every character is unlockable from just playing the prologue missions and I presume the story events? Is there any original content (other than the character lol).
Also do all the characters get unlocked at level 300, max covers? Or do we have a similar system as the mobile versions?

Don't know how I feel about this... like the idea of playing against my children or spouse... but unsure if you unlock a 5/5/5 character or if you have to build them?

Is there only story mode and playing a 2nd player in the same room? Is there PVE or PVP as we know it on Mobile?

Occam's razor suggests that if you didn't have to build the characters they wouldn't bother with 5/5/5. It'd just be Iron Man, or Storm.

I mean, it wouldn't be much of an RPG if you didn't have to grow the characters somehow, anyway.

Will we have a separate forum section for the console version? With the differences in characters and gameplay, this seems necessary.

Glad this is coming out for the last-gen consoles, since my only current one is a Wii U. For $15 and with head-to-head multiplayer 'll definitely consider picking it up.

Do characters level up by covers obtained or once you unlock a character, are they 5/5/5 at lvl 300?

Based on the announcement, it sounds like WayForward did development work from the supposed code-split and not just publishing?

No offense to the original game's composer(s) but would love to hear Jake Kaufman take another crack at superhero music.

But seriously they both have touch screens...and this game originally was built for touch screens. Sad to see it isn't coming to Wii U.

As a person with a 170,000+ xbox gamerscore,this looks like a pretty solid pickup.

I DO hope it's not going to be savage PTW. Paying $14.95 up front is groovy, more than happy to. Also happy to buy DLC when it comes out.

But please don't make it where there's 10,000 microtransactions once you buy it. That would make me very sad, and would make me avoid the game all together.

Nope, not the plan. Currently set for 14.99 (with crossbuy on PS3/PS4) and 3 pieces of DLC. Could always DLC it up with more characters down the road if it does well, but we're on a wait and see with that part.

Is the DLC aimed at adding the characters/events introduced to the FTP version since the code split, or will this be new-to-everyone stuff?
