The Gauntlet - Ultron Edition (Sept. 07th- Sept. 14th, 2015)

So the gauntlet has taught me something.
The team of Wolverine, OBW, and Loki punch WAAAAAAY above their weight class.
My Wolv is maxed and boosted to 150, OBW is 94, and Loki is only 70 something, but has his passive to punish match 4-5s.
This carried me from the SW/She Hulk/Cyclops node up to the IF/Luke/4Pool node, so now ap denial is no longer a viable tactic, because their attack tile and protect tile damage don't require AP.0 -
I love my team of LCap/Hood/X (Usually DP) this Gauntlet. It beat most of the third sub in one shot, I've wiped only once to that horrible FistBuster/Hood node (which I ended up just whaling). I've not had the opportunity to use LCap much before this, since I've had him as 5/2/3 or something like that for so long, but he is so good at PvE when boosted!0

Need help with node 32. Not being to do match 5s because of Jean Grey is killing me. Maybe a stun to circumvent this?0

Although not the highest level by any means, I think that node is the cruelest design in this gauntlet (maybe imhb/if/hood matches it, but only because hood is stupid over-leveled).
I used cage/switch/deadpool to beat it. But others here have reported great success with doc oc (especially if you have 4-5 black and can turn out those attack tiles.
Target the gunner first, if he starts generating critical tiles then soon they will start making match-5s and prof.x will destroy you.
I also recommend bringing a strong purple user, since you really want to keep purple away from both JG and Prof. X.0 -

I died so fast it was funny. As soon as enough special tiles spammed to trigger the first Core Meltdown, BLAM! Match-5. Master Plan. One dead character. BLAM! Jean's purple. Second dead character. Third down to 100 health. One match-3. Game over.
I lasted about 5 turns.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention, you'll want to use 1 Blue/Purple AP boost, and if possible, 1 All AP boost, to accelerate your AP thievery by Widow.
I think I did deviate on this node to Wolverine/Daken/OBW and was able to just brute force it with the above AP boosts to start OBW ap denial early. Hit the drone first, then Professor X, then grey last, and avoid match 5ing.0 -

With your roster Loki/CStorm/MNMags should work. I think it was mentioned a few pages back in the thread, but I can confirm it works. I think I did it with this team on 2nd attempt, although it might have been 3rd.
Take Jean out first (grab the purples for Mags) then get Prof X before he can cast Blind Spot which makes Ultron drone's tiles pretty lethal. Set up loads of match 4s for the enemy, Loki hates these according to the flavour text but it really helps with gathering that much needed AP.0 -

Tried Loki/storm/man mags twice and tiny kitty Prof X hits me two turns in with a lucky match 5. Waiting for health packs to recharge.0

I sometimes feel a bit bad for the devs. They obviously put a lot of effort into thinking up good opponent combinations for The Gauntlet and then I just trivialize them with Wanda/GSBW/PX. Teams like Carnage/Kamala/Ant-Man and DP/DPX/Spidey, for example. These are interesting teams that I'll never really fight because after turn 4 the AI never got another turn.
Then I pull a mHawkeye from a Gauntlet token and I stop feeling bad for the jerkwads.0 -

If it makes you feel better, I demolished the C/K/A with Wolv/OBW/Loki and just straight brute forced DP/DPX/Spidey with Wolv/Dak/OBW. With Wolv and Dak both being 2 stars.0 -
Edit: Using Cage, Rogers, and QS and targeting Hulkbuster did work... Barely...
I don't recall seeing anyone mention the Quicksilver Essential (just above Simulation 41), consisting of Hulkbuster, Iron Fist, and Hood. They are all about level 338 for me. I can't quite seem to get a leg-up. I want to take out Hood as fast as possible so he stops stealing my stuff, but then HB gets all Overdrive and Repulsor Punch. Combine that with IF's 900+ per turn damage tile, I don't last very long. I just leveled up Quicksilver from 90 to 120, so hopefully that helps a bit, but I can't quite seem to come up with the right character combo (or maybe I need to ignore Hood and focus on HB first, whilst matching as much yellow and red as possible). Maybe Rogers, Cage and QS?
I've finished almost all the other nodes (still have the Roger's 2nd, and 3rd to go). Otherwise, everything else is complete.
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

I finally pulled off a winfinte on dreaded 41. Level 114 Cyclops, Mystique and MagnetoMN against 256 XDP, Luke, Fist.
I don't have Mr Fantastic so the top prize is locked out. Also my Blade purple is max covered so I could call it a day after getting wanda in 40. But from sheer gambling ardor I wanted to see if I can beat the only node that could stop me from completing - all the rest can be whaled. So this is one more gauntlet that I would complete if I had all essentials.
Once again I realize how love-hate feeling I have to this game. Gauntlet is awesome idea but essentials locking out top progression is total ****. It should be hard to get because nodes are challenging, not impossible because you are missing a character.0 -

Yeah I think Im stuck on 41. The best thing I can think of for that node would be Moonstone with 5 black covers, but sadly, she only has 2 for me. I can keep their abilities suppressed, for the most part, but the inability to deal with Fist's Attack Tile inevitably does in my team.0

Just cleared Sim-32 with one of the luckiest TU uses ever. I really never look at what I'm getting, I just hit "Fight!" and take whatever random ones the game gives me.
2* Wolvie + 3* Steve + Cage. I downed the Gunner without him popping a crit, and had the board down to two enemy strike tiles. I stunned Jean with a blue shield, but X went invisible on me.
Uh-oh. A few match-3s later, the strike tiles are suddenly 1000/each!
A red shield downed Jean and made X visible again, but still those wretched strike tiles. They're in an unmatchable spot and it's 3 turns until Steve's shield comes back to get rid of one of them. By then at least one character will be dead and if X goes invisible again it'll be game over.
I look at my TU abilities, hoping something will work.
Striking Distance. The much-maligned yellow 4hor power. Turns enemy strike tiles into charged tiles! I think I even just got it today from the Big Enchilada.
So long, Chuck.0 -
Anyone have any tips for node 37? I am getting slaughtered. I'm willing to try any combo once!0

I can't believe I just beat this with Wolverine and SW. I got one Adamantium Slash out, then 'sacrificed' Wolverine, then I just got lucky with a bunch of Reality Crushes. Went after HB first. I'm really happy I didn't need to use up a whale here.0 -

I don't have patch fully leveled or covered. So I tried 3 star Thor, Loki, and daken as per your suggestion and that did the ticket! TY kindly for the advice.0
