Yeah, this combo failed HARD. As mentioned above a single Threaten went off and ruined the entire match. Wasn't anywhere close to pulling this off with that team.
game is 25% luck, ymmv, etc.

Wiped with 2 other teams that should have been able to handle this node as well. Spectacular waste of time. Sam Wilson isn't anywhere close to worth this kind of aggravation.

Well, I thought something was a bit off, because I cleared it much easier the first time than my second attempt, which took several tries.. and I'm glad that made me decide to take my foot of the pedal slightly here, especially because the 2nd sub is 48 hrs long..

As you found out eventually.. all of this was due to the community scaling being accidentally switched on.

They have switched it off now, so hopefully everything should be better for anybody still trying to grind the end of the first sub.

Nodes have not scaled down. I think we will have to wait until the 2nd sub, which takes many of us out of the running for T20

Have you used this team (or a gsbs/shehulk variant) before?

Raisin is right in that some luck is involved. Lightning strike sometimes runs out of gas prematurely. I wouldn't say it's 25% though. Success rate is pretty damn high.

Can possibly post a video tonight if want.

So... Two nodes went from level 140 to 190. 50 levels. Here I was thinking this event wouldn't be that bad.

My highest character not boosted is level 85. Cyclops is 160 and hardly covered. Thor is 136.

What kind of scaling hell is this?!

Edit: Did a clear about 5:30pm, they've gone up to 210.

I'd be interested to know how you find the nodes the next time you play.. it seems our problem is that our old enemy, the community scaling, was accidentally turned on..

I'd be interested to know how any team can survive an 899 strike tile.. let alone 4 with a Tommy Gun counter ready to blow the next turn.. actually icon_lol.gif

I will post a video, but by the time it's uploaded the sub will be over. Luckily this team works great in pretty much every pve node (even against 3 villains) so you can still see how it's played. I've done my third clear and haven't lost more than a few hundred damage from matches. Threaten and Tommy Gun never went off. It's a super small anecdote but it does work.

Community scaling doesn't matter. Goons are sitting ducks and Bullseye doesn't nuke so I consider him a goon in this situation as well. For what it's worth, My Mag and KK are 207, Storm is 145. The node was 293 on my last clear.

Props to Ebolamonkey for showing me the way icon_e_wink.gif

Link to this please as I haven't seen an official announcement. Not calling you out or anything I just feel assured when I see it from an administration.

Been a while since I have seen level 312 goons and thought I was in for a good top 10 on the first sub until I woke up and logged in again.

*Edit* Never mind I found it.

These nodes where they use yellow to create a tile, and then blow up yellow tiles when the CD ends. Makes XDP's purple pretty much worthless (thanks for making your new guy worthless). Silly game!

I'm not so sure what you mean by the first statement? Isn't that how countdown tiles work? most of them deal damage when the counter goes to 0 and the tile gets destroyed. Some countdown tiles have other powers, like healing and special tile making, but all of them gets destroyed to once it reaches 0?

If you are merely stating the fact that the damage from XDP purple is less than the goon tiles.. that's probably just an effect of the scaling..

No... what I mean is. One of the abilities is to create a yellow countdown tile. Then, when the tile CD ends, it blows up yellow tiles. So, since yellow is their strongest color, XDP can't ever find a tile to put his purple on, because they are either enemy CD tiles, or there aren't any because they were blown up from the ability. It is rather annoying. Makes Surgical Strike dumb too.

have a feeling the perpetual top 50 will disagree, but w/e floats your boat
I have to agree with those that say this combo isn't very reliable. If one threaten goes off you're screwed. It works well when I'm able to match away CD tiles, but so do most combos.

    this ends nearly any match
  • I have seen level 210 goons and Bullseye for the first time in a while. I wiped out and they dropped to just over 160. Wiped with a weaker team on an easier node and they dropped again to just barely over 150. Now that is the type of personal scaling I can get behind!

The best team I've found so far is Rocket & Groot + Cyclops + Iron Fist. The goal is to feed Cyclops and kill things before CDs become a problem, although there's a surprising amount of board shake with this composition as well. The only thing I don't like about it is Cyclops uses the tutile.png that Rocket & Groot needs to heal from soaking any abilities you can't avoid.

I was moderately excited about this event. Not necessarily about Faptain America (he's a hero who likes to work alone), but because it was almost entirely off season.

But then I saw the 2-day sub for round 2 and remembered why I'd rather be hung by my toenails than play competitive pve

Anyone know if the main event node closes after the first sub or remains open? Gonna be grinding my **** off in a few.

Here is the video of Cmag/KK/Mohawk in the Freeze Buddy node. Started from the easiest nodes and by the time I got to this one they were level 325. My highest is 207. 8 minutes long because those damn Bullseye tiles. Used 3x iso boosts. Recorded a second video right after, but I don't think it's worth uploading. Same thing happened. Can, though.
  • finished Mediterranean sub on my stream if folks want the lowdown - community scaling seems to still be on icon_e_sad.gif
  • I set up a decently leveled suicide squad to see if it would lower node levels.

Team I used against level 210 goons (boosted):
    Level 75 Lady Thor 1/1/1.
Level 145 Deadpool with 1 red cover.
    Level 71 2-star Magneto 3/2/3.

    I used one storm TU.
I miraculously won with less than 300 health on magneto.

.......... And the goons stay the same level.

Nice video, watched it in entirety. I thought it was interesting you left the Muscles up until the end; I usually finish goons in turn so that they stop generating AP. The node I was destroyed on was actually the previous one with a Muscle and two Hitman. I suspect the Threaten tiles come more quickly on that node. It might also have just been bad luck being unable to match or storm away the Threaten CDs.
