How should Caltrops be nerfed?

Maybe they should make Caltrops like mine sweeper (old school!). The first match you make can't detonate it, and it shows you how many traps are next to the tiles you just matched.......hmmm......no, that won't work.0 -
Forget caltrops nerf turn to smoke. You want to talk about a goon ability that tears through you it is turn to smoke. You are almost required to bring Falcon and a easy protect tile generator in order to survive survival mode. It would be nice to do a high level survival node in enemy of the state without using Falcon, Spider-Man, Blade combo.0

TTS has the same counter as caltrops. Protect tiles.
I didn't use Falcon, Blade, or Spiderman through the whole event. Again, Squirrel Girl LOVES TTS ninjas. Her protect tiles absorb and negate the damage while her purple ability is powered up by them.
I mean, by the end I was using Torch, PX, and Kamala Khan, mostly just because I was doing over 4,000 damage per turn with Torch's 5 cover green.
Oh, is that you Gorgon? Here's two 6,000 damage fireballs. PX, you go place some more special tiles. KK, you heal my team for whatever little damage I have taken.0 -
As a power it suits the type of enemy that drops it, and in keeping with the character they should be hidden, that being said it shouldn't affect the entire team.0

Thought I would revive this thread as we are, yet again, facing a caltrops heavy PVE.
I HATE caltrops. It says something that I am gunning down Kishu, A GOON, prior to anyone else on the opposing team. Caltrops is, by far, the worst goon power there is. It fires off at next to no cost, it is completely hidden, and burns HP from the entire team. Grrrrrrrrr.
End rant.0 -

Caltrops is the worst, but only if you ignore all of the Ultron goons. HEY WE'RE JUST GONNA FIRE ALL OF OUR POWERS EACH AND IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE POWER ONE TRIGGERS WILL ENABLE THE NEXT ONE TO GO BOOM HA HA HA0 -

As has been said before, to be realistic, Caltrops should always be on the field, even though the caltrops layer has died. If that happens, then they need to be nerfed heavily in damage.0

Facing only one Kishu, Caltrops is just fine.
But with two of them, the AI tends to use Caltrops a lot and creating great number of traps, in which you don't know which Kishu cast those trap0 -

While I agree that the Ultron goons are ridiculous as well, you can SEE the results of what they are doing. What can be seen can be countered. There is no counter to caltrops.0 -
I cast a vote for "no longer hits entire team," but on further consideration I think it would be fine if I could just tell which goon had fired the power. I feel the same way about Doombots and soldiers, not just ninjas. It's frustrating to nuke down a Kishu or Pyro or whatever and be all "hurray now the bad thing will go away" and then the other identical dude is like "lol u missed bro"0

(On mobile at least) For any countdown tile (i.e. not caltrops), if you rotate through which enemy is in front, the countdown tiles that character spawned will briefly highlight (get slightly bigger). Also if you click on the front enemy (to open up their power/match dmg window), then when you close that window the owned countdown tiles will also highlight.0 -

While all those strategies apply to attempting to minimize the damage that caltrops brings along with it, and are all very strongly advised and helpful, none of them are explicitly a counter-measure.
Need to deal with Turn to Smoke, Daredevil or Doc Ock have got you covered.
Need to deal with Countdown Tiles, OBW is on the case.
Caltrops cannot actually be directly stopped on the board. Sure, "kill the goon" works, but you could easily get hit two or three times prior to making that happen. A goon should not have an AOE skill that is invisible and that it can fire practically at will because it is self-generating AP. Not just that, but they put like 6 of them on the board! That's what 4* Nick Fury is doing with full blue covers, and he doesn't get team damage. I would much rather see Strength with Numbers, because I can deal with that directly. Caltrops has not stopped my progression advancement, ultimately, at any point. But I've definitely wiped on more occasions than I should have.
To the other point of character skills that opponents use from being fed by goons, I'm sure there are 33 threads or so on that in here, because that's total nonsense too. Stupid Wolverine showing up at the back of the crowd at the last minute in the middle of a wave....ugh. I agree with that point, I would rather see Caltrops than get wrecked by a hero power getting spammed.
Anyway, I'm just ranting and I totally appreciate the genuine replies. And the humorous ones too.0 -

I even play on mobile, and never noticed this. You are a gentleman (or possibly gentlelady) and a scholar.0 -

Need a new character, The Eraser, whose sole, passive power is to overwrite a special tile (even invisible traps) into a basic tile of a random color.
elektra is even worse then0
